"uh... Well... At first I was doing fine, then, all I could think about was resisting the urge. The urge to bite into something and drain it dry....... I started to drink my own blood just to try to stop it... At some point I blacked out and I woke up just.... So, so weak. After a week I was trying to walk again.... And then I lost my eye and my boyfriend in one night." Jack said as he rubbed his neck
-
'Holy cow,' Mildred said, looking at him in sympathy. 'That's terrible. Are all vampires like that, or just the royal ones?'
-
"only the royal vampires have this affliction. The vampires that can't hunt have lived for hundreds of years with rabbits blood." Jack said as he continued to rub his neck. He pushed his plate away.
-
‘Makes sense,’ Mildred said, noticing him push his plate away. ‘Are you okay, Jack?’
-
"I'm fine I'm just... Not hungry anymore." Jack said. He stood up and grabbed the pitcher of milk. He refilled his goblet. "Ring the bell whenever you're done. I think I shall take a small nap." Jack said.
-
Mildred blinked. She’d waken up less than an hour before. ‘Um, okay. If you’re sure you’re okay.’
-
"I am fine." Jack said before walking away. He left the sealed pitcher at the table. He didn't want it. He didn't want to be reminded. He walked through the halls quickly and slammed the doors to his room. He paced the floor.
-
Mildred went back to her food. She finished her pancakes after a bit and rang the bell, then walked down to her room.
-
Jack kept pacing. He thought if he could just defy his horrific nature Frederick wouldn't leave, but he did. He would've just forgiven him too if he'd not taken something so precious with him. Jack rubbed his eye patch then took it off, throwing it to the ground in frustration.
-
Mildred sat on her bed, pulling out her book. She opened it up and leaned against the headboard as she read.
-
Jack stuck his fingers into his eye socket and screamed in pain and frustration. He couldn't stop thinking even though he needed to. He covered his eye socket with his hands and went to the throne room to pick up his book. He wanted to read in his room.
-
Mildred brought her legs up to her chest and leaned her book on her thighs. She pulled the blanket over her legs.
-
He started to read the last unicorn again. Molly gru the bandit and smendric the wizard were trying to turn amalthea back to a unicorn before she goes insane. Amalthea watched the sea as they tried hard to return her and lyre continued to bother amalthea.
-
Mildred continued to read her book. She was about up to the middle.
-
Jack read on and a pit started to form in his stomach. He felt like he wasn't going to like what he was about to read. Amalthea was surely going mad, however lyre had started to earn her heart and he learned she was a unicorn.
