Jack opened the door to the dining room and sat in front of the fireplace
(Gonna be so fr, I have no clue. As it is though, I'll say that jack is a bit too much of an emotional wreck to be in a good relationship.) -
Mildred sat down next to him, watching the fireplace.
(Fair enough lol, maybe when they sort out the whole Frederick thing? Or maybe Mildred’s positivity is contagious and he eventually grows to be less emo, who knows. We can decide later xD) -
Jack rang the bell and Wilhelm walked out frantically. "I'm sorry my lord, but the food isn't ready yet. We just have to finish the cranberry sauce and the soup hasn't properly boiled and of course the chocolate-" Wilhelm spoke irratically. "It's fine Wilhelm. We can wait. I just wanted to get here before it got too hectic around here." Jack said.
(Definitely.) -
(Sounds good)
Mildred watched the two speak curiously, resting her chin on the palm of her hand. ‘I didn’t think cranberry grew around these parts,’ she said, looking at Jack. -
"we have a valley with them. It's useful for juice. Sometimes low income family will mix rabbits blood and juice to get more. It works for them but higher class vampires find it harder to get nutrients this way." Jack said
-
‘Oh. Fair enough,’ Mildred said, turning her gaze back towards the fireplace. She liked how she could imagine shapes dancing in the flames. The way it cracked and moved was mesmerising.
-
Wilhelm walked back into the kitchen and rushed the dinner preparations. Jack thought about how he could use a cup of milk
-
Mildred wasn’t sure what to say. She glanced at Jack. ‘How’s your sunburn?’ she asked quietly, still feeling bad about the face the vampire had thought it was an attempt to kill him.
-
"it's gone already. It's really a miracle. A vampire with a sunburn. I'm sure that's a setup to a joke." Jack said as he looked at his arms
-
‘Who would’ve thought? A peasant human knowing more about the vampire body than the prince vampire himself,’ Mildred said teasingly, grinning as she looked over at Jack.
-
"that just means we have lots to learn from each other, for example, did you know you can treat and infection with a slice of bad bread." Jack said.
-
Mildred blinked. ‘How did we try everything but that?!’ she exclaimed. ‘We thought my brother’s arm would need to be amputated because his cut got so infected, goddamn it!’
-
"well, bad bread has made humans I'll if not used to treat infections. However, the black and green parts of the bread hold a special spore that helps combat infection." Jack said
-
Mildred ran her hands through her hair, letting out a huff. ‘How did I not think of that?’
-
"humans tend to discount things they see as unclean. Your people believe it has no value. It is common but quite upsetting. There are so many things that could help but they are dismissed as dirty or useless." Jack said
