imsoclueless Senior(you're good, my replies may be a bit short too, with all that's going on-)
Ellie nodded, sitting down on the ground by Joel. "Well," she spoke after a few minutes of silence, rubbing his hands together. "I guess if we're gonna be traveling together for a while, I suppose we should, 'get to know each other'." -
(That's fine! I hope you're okay ❤)
Joel looked at her, and nodded, placing his arms behind his head, and crossing one leg over the other. "Alright, you first kiddo. Me and Tess practically bombarded you with questions when we met you" He thought for a moment as a hint of sadness crossed his face. "Ask me whatever you would like." -
Ellie nodded and scrunched her nose, pondering for a moment about what to ask. "Uh, do you have any family? Well- I guess, any family that's still alive?" She asked, then covered her mouth. "Wait- s---, that's- that's probably a bad question, forget it."
-
Joel chuckled at Ellies question. "Actually yes. I have a brother named Tommy. We haven't seen each other in a while. We kind of veered off path from each other, and haven't spoken since." Joel looked over at Ellie, then back a the ceiling. "I should try to get back in contact with him, but I doubt that would get anywhere. So, what about you? How did you come to get that nifty bite of yours?"
-
imsoclueless SeniorEllie froze and looked down at her lap, the hands resting on her legs clenching into fists. "I-" She started to speak, but paused for a moment to take a deep breath. "I was hiding out with my best friend. We- We were tryin' to find someone, anyone for help. I mean, we're literal teenagers on our own, for f---'s sake!" She paused and took another shaky breath, keeping her stare on her hands. "So, when we got jumped by some Clickers and had to fend for ourselves, it-" She began to blink away tears, realizing she was beginning to cry. She inhaled and furiously rubbed her eyes, trying to calm herself down. "My friend got bit, and I had to watch her die in my f---ing arms."
-
imsoclueless Senior(arms." She exhaled, glancing down at her arm. "I got the bite mark trying to fend the Clickers off and thought, well, I guess I'm accepting that same fate, but-" She squeezed her eyes shut and breathed deeply for a moment before looking up at Joel. "Sorry, I just- It's kind of hard to talk about, as you could expect..."**)

Joel nodded in slight understanding. "Loss is difficult. Especially when it's someone close to you." He sat up for a moment, and looked at the broken watch that was on his left wrist. "Believe it or not, I had a daughter once. Close to your age. Her name was Sarah, and I would have done anything for her." Joel thought back to that night, and the series of events that transpired. He took a deep breath. "Just remember, certain things you will never have control of. It doesn't mean it hurts any less."
-
imsoclueless SeniorEllie looked up, staring at Joel with teary eyes. She chuckled shortly, wiping her eyes and cheeks. "Guess you do get it..." She sighed, leaning back and propping herself up with her hands. "I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure your daughter was a great kid."
-
"Thanks. And she was." Joel said, trying not to let his emotions get the best of him. He layed his head back down on his backpack and closed his eyes. "I think everyone had lost someone important during this. Most people just want to try to do right, and make amends." Joel started to fall asleep, and before he knew it he was pulled into his dreams.

Before Ellie or Joel realized, the morning had come faster than anticipated. Joel was just starting to wake up. He kept his eyes closed for a moment, and listened to the birds that were chirping. He thought if he stayed like this maybe the world would magically change and he would be back home with Sarah and Tommy. He knew that wasn't the case though. He opened his eyes and sat up, stretching his arms and legs. He looked at Ellie, who had fallen asleep not to far from him. He decided he would wake her after he got his holster and backpack on, if she didn't wake up before then. -
Ellie slowly stirred awake and groaned, squeezing her eyes shut to block out the blinding light of the sun. She slowly sat up and yawned, stretching her arms up in the air and arching her back. "f---, sleeping on the ground does one hell of a number on your back," she muttered, rubbing the tired out of her eyes. She looked over to see Joel, a small sigh of relief escaping her lips to see he didn't abandon her in the middle of the night. "Morning, old man," she teased, standing up and brushing her pants off.
-
Joel chuckled and shook his head. Maybe the girl was growing on him a little bit. "Good morning." He said, fixing the holster to the gun, then swinging his backpack over his shoulders. "So, I figured we could try to find some more food and water, then we could trek out to Bill and Franks. What do you think?" Joel said, his stomach already starting to rumble slightly.
-
"Yeah, that sounds good," Ellie replied as she reached down, picking up her bag. She threw the strap over her shoulder and adjusted it to sit comfortably, looking over at Joel. "Ready whenever you are."
-
Joel looked at Ellie and nodded, making his way back to the first floor of the building. Everything in the area seemed fairly quiet, which unnerved Joel slightly. With the amount of people that came through yesterday, and the patrols, it was odd to not hear a sound. To be fair, they were almost out of the city, so it wasn't too uncommon either. He walked out of the building, the sunlight seemingly brighter that it was most days. He noticed a highway in the distance, and smiled. They were close, or at least figuratively closer to where they needed to be. It was going to be a walk, but they could do it. Maybe look for caches along the way. If Joel remembered right. There was one maybe 10 miles away from here. If they were lucky, they could make it their before dark. It would give them a place to rest.
He walked toward the highway, waving Ellie along. In the distance, he could see a camper. It might be something she would be interested in exploring. -
imsoclueless SeniorEllie followed and noticed the abandoned camper, making a beeline towards it. "Hmm, wonder what kinda goodies are in here," she said with a smirk, walking up to the door. She stepped up on the step and grabbed the handle, pulling the handle and jiggling it until it popped open. She slowly opened it and peered inside, making sure it was fully abandoned before entering.
-
Joel smiled, and followed Ellie. It was a fairly big camper. It even came with an older radio, that had no doubt died by now. The inside of the camper seemed to have hardwood floor, which was suprising. Joel when to the front seat and sat down, looking into the glove box. It didn't look like there was anything in the glove box, except for a driver's manual. Joel flipped the visors, and didn't see anything there either. He looked back at Ellie as she explored the rest of the camper. "Pretty cool, right?" He said, standing up and moving toward the steps again.
