Joel maneuvered around the table, his side in pain. He was going to have to find a safe spot to dress the wound. The pain would subside in a couple of hours, but for now it was quite literally like a thorn in his side. He made his way through a door way, and this next room seemed to be covered in shelves, Joel couldn't help but noticed the dust covering the shelves. He took a deep breath, standing up. Even if the Raiders came by, he would be ready. Joel at this point didn't care. He wanted to get to a safe spot to patch up.
He walked across the room, and opened a door. It led to some scaffolding that led downward toward the ground. He made his way down the scaffolding, and grunted once his boots touched the ground. -
Ellie followed close by, staying at Joel’s side. “How’s your arm?”
-
"I think it will be fine." Joel said, taking off his pack, and taking the anti-biotic, and wrap out of it. He rolled up his shirt and put the ointment on, then started to wrap. "Wish I had some alcohol, then I could use it as a disinfectant." He grunted, as he wrapped up the graze. It was fairly deep, but nothing that time wouldn't heal on its own.
-
“Do you think we’re safe- Well, at least for now?”
-
"I hope so." Joel said, standing up observing the area around them. Making this trek had proved to be difficult so far. He looked around at the near-by buildings and sighed. He kept thinking about Tess, and what the road in front of them had in store. He was nervous, and not much made Joel nervous. Having Ellie with him was causing Joel to rediscover his humanity.
-
“So? What’s our next course of action?” Ellie asked, watching Joel with a look of anticipation on her face. Sure she was scared, but she wasn’t gonna let him know.
-
(I am so sorry 😭)
Joel looked around the area surrounding them, and stood up. He looked around at all the buildings in the distance. His next step was to find Tommy, his brother. But the only lead he had was an old radio broadcast signal that happened months ago. He looked at Ellie. "Let's try to the hotel over there." He pointed to one of the few buildings that seemed solid, and still intact. We'll see what we can do from there. -
(you’re all good!)
Ellie nodded, following Joel over to the abandoned building. -
As Joel walked up to the enterance to the hotel, he couldn't help but here shuffling inside. Damn it.... He thought internally. It seemed like no matter what steps him and Ellie took, there was always something going on. It was never simple for some reason. He looked at Ellie for a moment, trying to not look defeated. "Looks like we are going to have to fight our way through this place too." He said, gruffly.
-
Ellie nodded, trying to hide the nervousness in her expression. “Hey, I can handle myself,” she said with a weak smile, trying to stay strong.
-
Joel knew that Ellie was strong, but he kept thinking of everything that they were going through just to get her to the Fireflies. Not only had he lost Tess, but it seemed like one thing after the other. He looked at the doors that led to the inside of the hotel, and took a deep breath. He reached out his hand and opened the door. Thankfully, it opened quietly. He peered inside, the lobby was covered in dust. He didn't see anyone in there, so he walked inside; keeping the door open for Ellie.
-
Ellie walked carefully through the door and into the room, surveying her surroundings for a moment and listening for any noises.
