(Shall time-skip till dinner!)
After the shower, Joel made his way to the dining room. It felt nice to actually be clean for once, instead of covered in dirt and grime. Bill seemed to be bustling around the house now that him and Ellie were here. He looked at the table that seemed to be covered in all sorts of good food. There was turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and definitely more. It seems Bill had set up a separate table of desserts. Joel sat down at the table, his stomach rumbling. -
Ellie walked into the room, inhaling the scent of the food. "Mm, that smells good," she spoke with a small smile, walking over and sitting down beside Joel.
-
Bill looked at Joel and Ellie and nodded as he took a seat at the table himself. "Thought the least I could do was cook up a meal for you." His voice was a bit gruff, but he seemed to have kind intentions. Joel looked at Bill. "Thank you for making the meal." Bill smiled. "It's just nice to have someone in the house. It's been lonely." Bill didn't want to go into specifics, but it was nice to not be in his own head. "Well, dig in!" He said, making himself a plate.
Joel picked up his plate, and started to pile food on top of it. It felt good to be at an actual dining table. Once he finished piling to food onto his plate, he started to dig in. -
Ellie stared at the food for a moment before going to pile food onto her plate, quickly eating. She sighed with content as she took the first bite, a small smile on her face. "Yeah, that's the stuff~"
-
Bill looked at Joel, and Ellie for a moment. It was odd without Tess being here. "So, what's the deal with the girl?" Bill said, eating a bite of the turkey. Joel looked at Bill for a moment, trying to think of his next words wisely. Bill was a no bull-s--- type of guy, so this conversation could go one of two ways. "A favor from an old friend, essentially." Joel knew he could trust Bill, he just wasn't sure if they should say anything right now. Joel looked at Ellie. It was in moments like these she made him think of the daughter he lost.
"So, do you all want to stay here for the night? Or do you want to get back on the road?" Bill asked both of them quizzically -
Ellie looked over at Joel, also wondering the same thing.
-
Joel looked at Ellie for a moment. "I don't see the harm in staying one more night. It's better than trying to find a place to sleep out there." Joel said, continuing to eat. "Ellie, what do you think?"
(I'm sorry my response is so short 😭) -
“That honestly sounds great,” Ellie replied with a chuckle, nodding and running a hand through her hair. “Probably the safest option, anyways, so why not?”
-
Joel nodded and looked at Bill. "I guess we'll camp out here tonight." He finished the rest of the food that was on his plate, and carried his dirty dishes into the kitchen. Being here made him wish life was still like this. Back when all he had to take care of was Sarah. He placed his dishes in the sink, and walked back to the dining room, leaning against the door. "There are two separate guest bedrooms that you all can use." Bill said gruffly. "One is in the basement, and one is upstairs." Joel nodded, as he waited for Ellie. "I can take the one in the basement " He said, yawning.
-
“Guess I’ll take the one upstairs, then,” Ellie replied with a yawn, standing and putting her dishes in the sink. She hummed softly as she made her way to the room, looking around for a moment before walking over to the bed and flopping down on it.
-
Joel made his way down to the basement, and looked at the bed like a long lost friend. He laid down on the bed, and seemed to melt into it. Before Joel knew it, he was asleep.
(Exciting stuffs up next, I promise 🤞🏼) -
(xD slayy)
Ellie soon passed out on the bed, a comic resting on top of her rising and falling chest as she slept. -
Joel was jolted awake by the sound of glass shattering, and rounds of gun shots going off. "Oh s---." He said, rolling off the bed. He had left his bag upstairs at the top of the basement, along either his pistol. Joel crouched, and quietly made his way up the stairs. "Get out of here you god forsaken idiots!" He could hear Bill yelling from a far corner of the house, and more gun shots rang out. Joel reached the top of the stairs, and snatched his back-pack up quickly, and readied his pistol.
Joel looked to his left where the front door was, and saw that it was left ajar. He looked upstairs, and though of Ellie. I hope she is okay He though, his heart pounding in his chest. Not only did he have to get this girl to the Fireflies, but she was growing on him. As much as he didn't want to admit it. He looked to his right, and saw some movement that direction. He stayed down, and slowly mad his way toward the figure that was moving toward the dining room. He quickly took a killer shot, and the figure dropped. He assumed the test of the intruders were in a different section of the house, he just didn't know where. -
Ellie stirred awake to the loud noises, panic rising. s---- Okay, relax- You can handle this, you’ve just- you’ve just gotta find Joel, alright? She thought, jumping out of bed and grabbing her things. She pulled out her pistol and cautiously made her way out of her room, searching for Joel. “Joel?!” She whisper-shouted, her hands shaking a little from fear. “Joel, where are you?!”
-
Joel made his way back to the stairs, and could here Ellie Faintly calling his name. He quickly made his way up the stairs, hopefully not garnering any attention from the intruders. "Ellie..." He said, in a loud whisper. "Where are you?" He kept his pistol high, and looked around the hall. For some reason his brain still seemed on sleep auto-pilot.
