Joel nodded in agreement. They could always stop and chat when the circumstances were better. "Just follow behind me, and we'll male our way out of here." He walked back through the room he was just in, and listened closely. He could hear more movement in the lower floors, but nothing else from the floor they were on right now. He peered put into the hallway, sunlight trickling in through the windows. He could see cases of goods and weapons from where the Fireflys had been stationed here. Joel couldn't wrap his head around why the camp had been ambushed. It was going to be even harder to find out where there next encampment was. Joel sheathed his knife, and walked to the end of the hall. He looked out of the window, staring at the decrepit buildings. He took off his bag, and grabbed the spare pistol that was in his bag.
He looked back at Ellie, and turned around handing her the weapon. "You can handle yourself. Just remember, we look out for each other." He shouldered his pack, and walked down the steps that went down the back of the Capitol Building. -
Ellie looked down at the pistol that was stuffed in her hand, gripping the handle. She looked up at Joel with an unreadable look before smiling shortly, nodding. "We stick together, no matter what." She added, nudging his arm with her elbow.
-
Joel smiled slightly, and kept heading down the stairs. There was a door to their left that Joel went into. On the other side of the room was a window that led directly outside onto the sidewalk. He walked over to it, and tried to lift. Joel strained for a moment, his muscles burning. That window wasn't going to budge. He thought for a minute, the exited the room. If he remembered, the last time him and Tess were here, there was a home-made exit. Joel quickly made his way over to a room that was a couple of doors down, and peeked inside. He nodded, and waved Ellie in. There was a shelf that him and Tess had put in front of a tiny crawl-space. He moved the shelf over, and he could see the ground on the other side. "Go, I'll be right behind you." He said, as the voices of guards started to get louder.
-
Ellie nodded and crouched, entering the makeshift exit. She crawled into the crawl space, moving forward.
-
Joel followed directly behind Ellie, turning slightly so he could move the shelf back into place. Before he knew it, they were on the other side. Before they could stop to recuperate, they needed to find a safe place to hide. Joel looked around at the buildings, and motioned Ellie to follow him into the nearest one. If they had to, they could clear it, but hopefully that wasn't the case.
-
Ellie followed closely behind Joel, gripping her pistol tightly in her hands.

(Sorry my response was short this morning! Work called ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚)
As Joel entered the building, he looked around. It was in the same state as the others they had been in previously. Joel didn't hear anything, but that didn't mean the building didn't hold infected. He looked at Ellie, and motioned her to hide behind an L-shaped counter. "Stay here, and I'll go check the floors above us." He was nervous about leaving her down here, but he did give her the pistol and she had shown him that she could take care of herself.
Joel headed up a set of stairs to the second floor. As he climbed the steps, he noticed fresh moss growing as he made his way up. When he reached the top of the steps, he pulled out his pistol, and cleared the first room. He walked into each of the side rooms, making sure each one was clear before heading back downstairs to Ellie. "Looks like everything is clear for now." He said holstering his pistol. -
Ellie nodded and followed close behind Joel, making sure to stay quiet.
(sorry for short reply, major headache rn :')) -
(It's okay! I hope you feel better!!)
Joel headed back upstairs, and to one of the rooms that was the farthest away from the Capitol Building. He took off his backpack and the holster that was wrapped around his waist. It felt like a heavy bulk had been lifted off his body. He took a deep breath, and tried to clear his mind from the events that just transpired less that 30 minutes ago. "While we are here, practice aiming that gun. I know I can trust you, but the most important thing is hitting your mark." Joel looked at Ellie, and was going to end what he said right there; but a part of him told him to be nicer to the girl. "And if you need help, I am just a step away."
Joel sat down on the ground, next to where he had placed his things. He placed his head in his hands for a moment, thinking about Tess; and his daughter he lost oh so long ago. Now, he had even less connections and he lost another person that was close to his heart. While thinking about Tess, he also had to think of a way to deliver this girl to the next Firefly post. The issue was, finding out where that was. If he played his cards right though, he still had a few cards up his sleeve. -
imsoclueless Senior"Yeah, yeah, I got that,"Ellie teased with a smirk, nodding and glancing down at the pistol in her hand. "Not like I've never handled a gun before."
-
Joel nodded his head, and chuckled. "Fair." He said, thinking about a long lost friend that they could possibly get information from. If he was still alive that is. "How about we rest here for the night, and we get started early tomorrow? I have a friend that may be able to point us in the right direction." If Joel remembered everything correctly, getting to Bill shouldn't be to hard from here. Maybe a few minor complications on the way, but it should be anything too serious. And, if he was lucky Frank would be with him too. He needed a foundation right now, and those two were the best ones anybody could find.
-
"Yeah, that sounds good," Ellie replied with a short nod, following close behind Joel. "And what friend? How do you know he's even alive??"
-
"If I know him right, that man is like a box of hardened nails. Not to mention, very intuitive." Joel chuckled. "He had his own personal bunker built before all this s--- went down." Joel said, thinking back to the first time he met Bill and Frank. "They lived in a local community that been evacuated, then after everyone was gone Bill started to build a fence around the town. Frank just happened to stumbled upon the place one day, and got stuck in one of many of Bill's traps. Bill was going to kill him, but they ended up hitting it off, and not they stay there together. It's a perfect place to stop, and rest."
(I am so torn between doing what the show did, and the game did, because both are sad. ðŸ˜) -
(xD frr)
"So we'll be safe there? At least for a bit??" Ellie asked, crossing her arms over her chest and raising an eyebrow. -
Joel nodded, and moved his pack over to make a make-shift pillow. "We should, even if it is for a couple of days." He layed down, and looked at the ceiling above him. He was hoping they could make it there. It was the next best spot.
(Sorry it's so short! Headed to bed!)
