"that sucks." Valako said. She figured it was terrible to have a friend start acting or seeming different. She never had friends, but if she did she would hate to lose them. Except now she did have a friend. It made the thought even sadder

Jonah realized Valako was looking a bit down. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked, looking her in the eye.

"well, I realized how terrible it truly would be to lose a friend since I have a friend now." Valako said.

“Hey, you’re not gonna lose me anytime soon.” Jonah said, trying to give her a comforting smile.

"that's reassuring. I promise you, it's gonna take awhile to get me to stop staring from the treeline of you ever stop coming back to the forest." Valako said

“Good thing I won’t stop then.”

"great, because it would be very awkward and creepy to stalk you from the forest. If I did that I might actually be the monster." Valako said

“Please, as if you’d ever.”

"I wouldn't have much else to do. Other than rewatch my mom's old Disney tapes for the 12th time this year." Valako said giggling.

Jonah laughed along. “Oh man, I don’t know if I’d last watching Disney tapes that much!”

"it's better than rewatching where the red fern grows, or old yeller. I'm too attached to those dogs" Valako said

“Oh no, not the dogs! They were so pure!” Jonah agreed.

"yeah, dogs, and most pets really are just too sweet for this world." Valako said

Jonah nodded. “They don’t deserve us.” He said. “Rest in peace all pets from classic movies, because they all seem to die at the end.”

"Exactly. I will never forgive Marley and me for that." Valako said. That movie made her cry for days after Marley died in her first watch and she demanded her mom get her a dog which got her thirty minutes in timeout. She was around 7 years old
