Anne held Lily close, wrapping her arms around her friend. 'It'll be OK,' she whispered in Lily's ear.
-
Lily nodded, resting her head against Anne's shoulder and she fell to sleep, her body sucked into darkness.
-
Anne gave a small smile and held her close.
'We're going to need to take her to the hospital,' the doctor said. -
Lily didn't hear what the doctor said, but that was fortunate as she would of resisted and scream, as the only time her friend had gone to the "spital" as they called it, she'd died from the treatment.
-
'We'll take her,' Mariella said, feeling it better if Anne was there for Lily as emotional support. Anne ran her hand through Lily's less knotted hair, to calm her down even though she was asleep.
-
(should we skip to an hour later?)
-
(sure!)
-
Within the next hour the three females had rose in a cart all the way to the hospital. Fortunately for Lily, Anne's mother was rich and was able to afford the treatment and hospitality from the better hospitals so Lily wouldn't have to sleep on the floor with all the blood like her friend once did. Lily started to stir as she was laid down on a hospital bed.
-
Anne was sat on the edge of Lily's bed, reading. She looked up from her book when Lily began to stir. Anne smiled and reached for her hand, holding it in hers.
-
Lily was still sleepy but her expression was panicked. "Where am I?" She looked around with her large brown eyes scanning the room.
-
'The hospital,' Anne said. There were nine other beds in the room they were in, seven of them occupied. Someone puked into a bucket from the other side of the room. Anne set her book on the bedside table. 'How are you feeling?'
-
"hot" she replied taking off the blanket that had been put over her. Inside she was screaming with terror but she tried to stay calm, Anne had been right earlier, there was no need to start screaming again. She squeezed Anne's hand and gave her a small smile.
-
Anne smiled as well. She held Lily's hand with both of hers. 'Are you still feeling sick? A nurse can go fetch a bucket if you feel the need to spew again.'
-
Lily shook her head. "I'm alright for now" she said. She looked up at Anne with her puppy-dog-eyes. "What do you think dying feels like?" She asked.
-
Anne was taken aback by that question. A worried expression crossed her face. 'Well, uh, I'm not sure. Are you sure you're OK?' she asked, frowning in concern for her friend.
