The doctor put his hand over Lily's forehead to feel her temperature. She flinched back terrified.

Mariella frowned. 'Lily, what's wrong?'
Anne finally finished making the tea and hurried downstairs, cup in hand. -
Lily said nothing and peered up the doctor.

The doctor returned his hand to Lily's forehead, having seen much more stubborn patients. Anne set the tea on the counter.
'Here you go, Doctor,' she said -
The doctor nodded and took Lily's temperature. He frowned. "Definitely a fever, make sure she has clean wrags soaked in water every hour, and make her drink water. Seems to be overcome of shock. Had anything happened recently?"

'Her parents are on a business trip,' Mariella said. 'She's come to stay with us. I think that's it, Lily?'

Lily looked at Anne unsure whether to tell her.

Anne shook her head quickly so that Mariella didn't see.

Sorry every time I make a post it randomly deleted and it's really annoying plus I am struggling at school so I haven't been posting much.

Lily nodded and took a deep breath as she stared up at the doctor, trying not to daydream about monstrous thoughts about what the doctor might do to her.

The doctor pressed the back of his hand to Lily's forehead again, then pressed his stethoscope to her chest. Anne held Lily's hand, squeezing it softly every once in a while.

Lily closed her eyes shaking every time she felt cold metal or nimble fingers touch her skin. She flinched as he felt her forehead but stayed still, clutching Lily's hand like her life depended on it.

'I think she's got scarlet fever,' the doctor stated after a few minutes of silence. 'It can be treated.'

Lily bit her lip and looked at Anne, eyes wide in shock and fear, she looked to Anne's Mother, to the Doctor anyone to tell her it was a mistake he was wrong. Their dry expressions didn't change. Lily gulped back tears.
