Lily took hold of her cutlery, and glanced to Anne.

Anne's mother sat down at the table, the seat on the left side of the head. Anne's father was nowhere to be seen. There was a few minutes of silence before Anne spoke up.
'Where's father?' she asked, looking at her mother. -
"Still at work" Anne's mother wavered. Her husband hadn't been home for a few days and she worried that something awful had happened.
"Where does he work?" Lily asked inquisitively.
