"Do you want to do it?" she asked.

"Do what?" Lares hadn’t been paying attention.

"Be a commoner for a day," Erina said.

"How?" Lares asked.

"You'd know better than I would," Erina said. "Just run away for a day, I guess."

Lares swallowed. "What good would that do? It would throw the kingdom into a frenzy, and besides, I don’t have any commoner clothes."

"I can bring some tomorrow," she said. "Pretend you're sick and say you want to be left alone."

Lares nodded. "It’s a plan." He hefted his bow and set it back down again.

Erina nodded in return. "Sounds good," she said.

"I guess this is the end of our lesson today." Lares waved and returned to the castle.

Erina returned home, her stomach aflutter.

Lares hustled back inside the castle.

The next day, Erina arrived with her archery things and a set of clothes. -

Lares told the guards that he wasn’t feeling well and wanted to be left alone. Then, he walked to the training grounds. -
"Here," she said, tossing him the bundle of clothes.
