She nodded in acknowledgment and walked to face the target. "You're not how I thought you were going to be," she commented as she nocked her arrow.
-
Lares didn’t know what she meant by that, so he changed the subject. "You’re improving," he said.
-
"You've already told me that," she said. She aimed the arrow and shot.
-
"True," Lares admitted, nocking an arrow of his own and hitting a bullseye. He didn’t look surprised when his arrow hit the center.
-
Her arrow had hit outside of the bulleye. "You should take what I said a few seconds ago as a compliment," Erina said. "You are different than what they say."
-
Lares shrugged. "Maybe I am, but is what what people think of you any different than what you are? They suspect that you are someone else entirely, and then that other person becomes you."
-
"So you are difficult, arrogant, and condescending?" she said.
-
Lares shrugged. "Oftentimes it happens, but not always."
-
"You were when I first met you," Erina said. She nocked another arrow.
-
"People change like the tides in the ocean," Lares replied, nocking an arrow of his own. He let it fly, and it hit just outside of the bullseye. "Change is inevitable."
-
"So am I still supposed to remember that you're superior to me no matter what I may think of you or address you as?" she asked.
-
Lares looked sorrowful. "We all choose our own paths, no matter how much others influence them. Pick your path."
-
"You're sounding like a philosopher," she commented with a light laugh.
-
"Man, I’m going to stop being a prince. I’m going to become a philosopher now," Lares teased lightly.
-
"Good luck," she smiled. She realized she hadn't shot her arrow yet, so she did so. It split Lares' arrow outside the bullseye in half.
