Lares barely caught them. "Avert your eyes," he warned her, and once he was satisfied that her eyes were closed, he put on the clothes.

Erina promptly turned around when she realized what he was doing. Why he was changing in the middle of the training grounds in plain sight was a puzzle to her, but she didn't say anything.

"Okay, done." He turned around. "Do I look like a commoner?" A little bit of his gold hair peeked ou.

"Your shirt is inside out," she said, seeing the wrong side of the seams on the clothing.

Lares sighed. "Just keep it like that. This way I’ll look like a doofus, which is good."

Erina sighed. She adjusted a few things on him. "There, let's go now."

"Okay." Lares nodded. "Wait—are you going to bring me to your family?" He frowned.

"Only if you want to," she said. "I wasn't planning on it."

"You know what," he decided, "I’m just going to wing it."

"Come on," Erina said, leading him off the training grounds. It wasn't very far to the town she lived in.

Lares followed her, intrigued.

The town was scruffy, smelly, and noisy, but it was all familiar to Erina, and it was her home. -

It was almost too much to take in to Lares. Kids were shouting jubilantly. Trash pooled out of overfilled Dumpsters.
