Lares barely kept up with her pace. What’s a smith? he wondered. Usually all the pans in the castle were in the best shape.
-
Erina went to the blacksmith. There was a boy about her age there.
"Hey, Jonathan," she said. "Where's Anderson?"
"He had an errand to run, I'm in charge till he's back," Jonathan answered. He obviously had a liking towards Erina, but she was completely oblivious to it.
"Oh," Erina said. "Well, can you fix this? I didn't realize there was a hole until the meat juices started dripping though."
"Of course!" he said, taking the pan from her.
"Thanks, Johnny," she said.
"No problem, Erin," he said. "I'll have this done in no time, don't worry." -
Lares frowned at the two conversing with each other. Jonathan was smitten with Erina, but he decided not to say anything and make it awkward.
-
Erin smiled then bade him goodbye. "So what do you want to do?" she asked Lares.
-
Lares shrugged with a faint grin. "Whatever a commoner does."
-
"It kind of depends on the day, really," she shrugged
-
"Really?" Lares punched her in the arm playfully. "Well, what day is it, and what do you do on this type of day?"
-
"Ow!" Erina said, rubbing her arm. "I know that wasn't supposed to hurt but it did."
"Today is Friday and I'm supposed to go get herbs for Lillia," she said. "She's too old to get them herself and she's taught me what the ones she needs look like." -
"Sorry." A lopsided grin spread across Lares' face. "May I help you?"
-
"If you want to," she said. She walked in the direction of home to grab a basket for said herbs. "Lillia can cook like you've never imagined and she's also the town's healer."
-
"Food and healing." Lares snapped his fingers. "Awesome. I like food, and I hate wounds."
-
Erina couldn't help but laugh a little. She grabbed her woven basket off of a shelf and headed out the door.
-
-
Lares tagged along, a butterfly veering away from him. "So… where does Lillia live?" he asked nervously. "Far away or close? Because, you know, I don’t have a lot of experience traveling on foot."
-
"Just on the outskirts of town," Erin said. "We're stopping there to find out which herbs we're supposed to get"
