Jared chuckled softly, nodding. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you, okay?” He said softly, gently grabbing Liam’s hand.

“I’ll be fine,” Liam said with a small smile, taking Jared’s hand as he stood again. He squeezed it gently, starting to walk. “It’s very nice of you to care about me so much, though.”

“I mean, you’re my best friend and boyfriend, how could I not~?” Jared said with a smile, kissing the back of Liam’s hand. “Plus, your mom would kill me if I let anything bad happen to you, and I’d prefer not to get on her bad side- Again-“

“She’s not mad at you anymore, that was a while ago,” Liam said, twining their fingers together and flushing red. -

“I know, I just- Still feel really bad about it,” Jared said, sighing softly. He leaned against Liam’s side, humming softly. “I’m just glad she doesn’t thoroughly hate me-“ -

“She couldn’t, I don’t think,” Liam said with a shrug. “You’re too nice, anyways-“ -
“Yeah, I guess so,” Jared said, chuckling softly. He exhaled softly, gently squeezing Liam’s hand.

“So don’t worry, okay?” Liam said softly, smiling.

Jared nodded, a small smile on his face. “Your mom’s definitely the least of my worries, honestly,” he said quietly, looking down at the ground. He exhaled shakily, hugging his free arm across his chest.

“Hey, I’m sorry,” Liam said softly. “But- let’s have fun at camp, y’know! Forget about your stupid homophobic mom-“

“And Pastor Matthew-“ Jared exhaled, balling his free hand into a fist and nodding. “Yeah, f--- that. Let’s just have fun,” he said with a small smile, nodding as he looked back over at Liam.

“Yeah, exactly,” Liam said with a smile. “Don’t bottle it up, but let’s have a good summer!”

Jared nodded, smiling at Liam. “Yeah- Holy s---, what the f--- is that??” He said, pointing at a large, winged bug on a nearby, low-hanging tree branch. “s---, he’s a big guy, looks kinda like some sort of beetle-“

“Woah, I’ve never seen one of those,” Liam said softly, looking up and studying the bug as they stopped walking. “Definitely a beetle though-“ he agreed, taking a picture of it.

“Kinda f---in’ creepy, not gonna lie,” Jared said with a chuckle, moving closer to get a better look at the beetle. The bug turned in his direction and started moving, making the brunette quickly back up. “Liam, it wants to kill me, help-“ He said, moving behind the blonde.
