“Yeah, bi,” Evan said with a reassuring smile, patting Jared on the back. “But aim proud of you, dude. That’s a hard thing to come to terms with.”

“Thanks,” Jared said, blushing a little from embarrassment. “I- I don’t want anyone else to know, just yet- God, especially not my parents-“ He paused, groaning softly as he rubbed his face with his free hand. “God, how am I gonna tell my mom…”

“You don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Liam said with a shrug. “I haven’t told my mom.” “Yeah, and your secret is safe with us. Actually-“ Evan paused , blowing out a breath. “I’m gonna have to… tell somebody about what happened to you and your pastor. I’m technically a mandated reporter and I have to say if something like that is happening.”

“But-“ “Hey, no buts, dude,” Michael said, crossing his arms. “What he did was not okay, like, at all- You need to tell someone.” Jared exhaled shakily, bringing his free hand to his chest and clutching his shirt in his hand.

“Hey, it’s for the best,” Liam said assuring, squeezing Jared’s hand and grabbing his other one. “Yeah, and I will try my best to not let it get to your parents, okay?” Evan said softly. “If that’s something you want. But- Jared, none of this was your fault, you know that right? It’s not your fault that man did that to you.”

“Yeah, he’s a gross pedo who took advantage of you, dude,” Michael said, furrowing his brows. Jared nodded, exhaling softly as he leaned into Liam’s touch. “I- I might have to tell them, anyways, since they’ll hear about it at church…”

“Yeah, but we’ll be right behind you, okay? Michael and I will stand with you no matter what,” Liam said with a soft smile. “And probably my mom- she never liked Pastor Matthew anyways-“

Jared chuckled, nodding. “Honestly, he kinda sucked,” he said, twining his fingers with Liam’s. “Okay, now that that’s all sorted out- Can we keep hiking??” Michael complained, groaning softly. “I wanna find that baby deer again-“

“Yes, oh my gosh, Michael,” Liam said with a chuckle, letting go of Jared’s other hand as they started to walk again.

Jared chuckled and watched Michael run off ahead, leaning into Liam’s side as they walked. He looked down at their hands, a smile on his face. “I’m sorry I made you think I was like, weirded out this morning-“

“It’s okay, I forgive you,” Liam said with a smile. “Did you come to any other realizations after this morning?” Evan asked, awkwardly third-wheeling as he trailed behind them.

“Wouldn’t you like to know~” Jared teased, smirking playfully at Evan. He glanced over at Liam, chuckling softly as he leaned into his side.

Liam giggled happily, ruffling his hair playfully. “You’re being way to suspicious about this-“ he teased his boyfriend, squeezing his hand.

“Mm, about what~?” Jared said with a chuckle, gently squeezing Liam’s hand back before letting go. He wrapped his arm around his boyfriend’s shoulder, looking forward. “s---, Bug, look-“ He said, pointing to two butterflies flying together in the air.

“Oh- Oh my gosh, they’re so cute,” Liam said with a bright smile, speeding up a little to get closer to them before they fluttered away. “Wait- Jared, what did you just call him?” Evan asked, curious.
