“I’m- I’m fine, just leave it alone,” Jared muttered as he waved a dismissive hand at Liam, exhaling shakily.

Liam hesitated before nodding and watching Jared for a second. “Oh- okay, sorry.”

Jared watched Liam for a moment, guilt washing over him. “s---, no- I- I’m sorry, I’m just-“ He groaned softly, rubbing his face with his hands. “God, why can’t my stupid f---ing brain just shut up?!” He huffed with anger, speeding up and walking off alone.

Liam frowned, speeding up just after him. “What- what do you mean??” he asked, getting his shoulder grabbed by Evan. “Hey, give him a little space-“

Jared groaned angrily as he clenched his fists together, kicking a rock that was on the path off to the side. No, I- I can’t be in love with him! I f---ing can’t! If I am- If I am, my parents will kill me- His breathing became erratic as he started running, passing Michael on the past. “Uh- Watch it, Jared-“ Michael started to say before he rushed past. “Uhh, Evan? Jared- Jared’s running off down the path!!” He shouted, running back to his counselor.

“Uhh, Jared! Come back please-“ Evan said, glancing up from Liam. He started jogging where he could see Jared.

Jared slowed to a stop at a clearing, panicked, gasping breaths escaping his mouth. He dropped to the ground as his hands gripped onto his hair and shirt, tears brimming in his eyes. If I’m gay, they’ll- they’ll disown me and- and kick me out- I- I can’t go back to Matthew- But- I love Liam- He hyperventilated as he tugged at his shirt collar, his heart pounding.

Evan started to run after Jared, Liam right behind him. “Jared, Jared!” He said, jogging into the clearing.

Jared sat on the ground, unresponsive as he tugged at his shirt collar. What is happening to me?! I can’t f---ing breathe- He kept breathing heavy, shaking and gasping for air. He squeezed his eyes shut, burying his face in his knees as he hugged his legs to his chest.

“Hey, hey, woah, Jared,” Evan said, crouching down next to him. “Breathe-“

Jared tried to respond, but the only thing that came out were more gasping breaths. “I- I can’t breathe-“ He let out a shaky sob, squeezing his eyes shut.

“Focus on me, deep inhale, with me, c’mon,” Evan said, dramatically inhaling.

Jared tried to take deep breaths, but only gasped for air as he clutched his shirt in his hand. “I- I need Liam-“ He managed to say, taking fast, shaky breaths in and out as he tried to calm himself.

“Liam!” Evan called, the boy running from the start of the clearing. “What- what’s wrong?” He asked, crouching down next to Evan. “Jare, what’s wrongs?”

“I- I don’t know-“ Jared whispered, fear and panic in his voice as he took shaky breaths. He let go of his legs and moved onto his knees, basically flinging himself onto Liam. “I- I just need y-you-“
