Mildred beamed. She was happily bouncing up and down by now. She stopped once she noticed the servants coming into the room.
-
Jack stood to address his people. "Hello all staff, I know as of late it's been tough, but alas, our troubles are soon to feel miles away! In 3 nights time, we will have a ball! This is to announce our new keeper of the books, Mildred!" Jack announced. The cheers were small at first but grew like a tidal wave. The vampires may not have had any thought about Mildred but a keeper of the books surely meant something for the kingdom, and a ball after all the pain of the kingdom was just what they'd all been waiting for. A party that even commoners could go to as it was hosted by the royals.
-
Mildred smiled as she listened to Jack talk. She couldn’t think of why she ever wanted to escape in her first hours here. Her heart pounded with excitement.
-
"let's make this party wonderful! Ivan, call lucresia for me please. We'll have the finest tailored silks and cloth!" Jack shouted in his excitement. He had to hold himself back from the transformation he felt growing.
-
Mildred was having trouble pronouncing the name Lucresia in her head. Loocreshia. Lyucrezia. Lucresia.
-
(it's pronounced like Loocreshia btw)
"Now then, let's get ready!" Jack shouted. The servants excitedly scrambled and grouped together to plan their part of the ball. The decoration team was already planning for a small group they called the crochet club to make dolls of Mildred to place around the room and give as party favors to friends and family. -
(Ty lol)
Mildred looked around. She wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do, or what the servants were planning to do, but she didn’t mind at all. ‘Is there anything I’m suppose to do?’ she checked with Jack curiously. -
"I mean, you are allowed to help with planning if you'd like but the only thing you really have to do is go to a few appointments with lucresia. She has single-handedly earned her noble title by working as the most skilled tailor in my kingdom." Jack explained.
-
‘Oh. That’s good,’ Mildred said, breathing a small sigh of relief. ‘I don’t think I’d have any idea what to do if I had to set up or something,’ she said with a small chuckle.
-
"if they needed your help, I'm sure they'd show you how, but they're excited to get the party ready. They actually get a bonus for that. They also get a special individual recognition before the music starts." Jack said. The servants bustled with excitement after the reminder of the gifts they got after the ballroom was all set up.
-
‘That’s good,’ Mildred said with a smile. She watched with fascination as the servants set up the room. ‘It’s good they enjoy their work.’
-
"I'm glad they do, if they didn't I'd feel too guilty to keep them here." Jack said. He liked it when they appreciated their jobs. A maid from the crowd smiled and waved at Mildred. She wore a similar dress to Mildred.
-
‘Me too, if I was in your position,’ Mildred said. She looked over at the maid. She smiled and waved back at her. ‘Who’s that?’ she asked Jack.
-
"oh, that's Celie. If my memory serves me correctly she loaned you that dress. We might ask lucresia to make you a few other dresses for everyday life." Jack said. He figured that Mildred should have at least two dresses of her own considering the fact that the dress she was wearing had not been washed in awhile as far as he knew.
-
‘Oh yes, the one I’m meeting tomorrow,’ Mildred said with a smile. Celie seemed nice, and Mildred was looking forward to having her as a friend. ‘Sounds good! Wearing the same dress for several days gets uncomfortable.’
