‘Did they deserve to die?’ Mildred asked. She’d grown up where people in power were selfish and mean. It was difficult to wrap her head around a selfless prince.

"some of them didn't. Not really, the blood of several humans are on my hands. It's not great but you already know I have to do that to survive." Jack said

‘Fair enough,’ Mildred said. She looked at the ground, zoning out a bit

Jack didn't know what to do, so he sat down in one of his chairs

Mildred slouched slightly, propping her chin on her hands. She looked back at Jack. ‘Any luck with finding Frederick?’

"not really. It's hard to pinpoint where he's hiding." Jack said. Frederick was always slippery, and he always found new ways to get into trouble.

Mildred nodded. She wondered if Frederick was listening to them right now. ‘Do you know why he’s hear in the first place?’

"no. My only lead is him dropping off the last unicorn and disappearing. I also guess he wants my eye." Jack said

‘Why would he want your eye? He’s already immortal and stuff.’

"I don't know. Maybe it's for some new lover he ran off with because I'm so gloomy and boring." Jack said

‘You’re not gloomy and boring. Just a little emotional,’ Mildred said.

"I'm too emotional. It's what makes me a bad king and a great prince." Jack said

‘I don’t think there’s such a thing as “too emotional”. You probably just don’t handle it very well,’ Mildred said. ‘And I think you’re a great king.’

"I have made more than a few mistakes due to a bad emotional state." Jack said

'Humans have too. A lot,' Mildred said.
