"the nobles are supposed to be my advisors, the problem is the nobles don't come to the castle." Jack said

‘Well if you’re so worried about making rash decisions, maybe you should hire one,’ Mildred suggested.

"good idea. I'll send out an application." Jack said. He considered appointing Mildred to the position but decided it might be a bit biased and cause some resentment in his people that he chose a young human girl rather than an experienced vampire who knows undead politics. The people would be far more worried about her taking a page out of human rulebooks.

Mildred nodded, crossing her ankles. ‘I think you’re too smart to do anything that would cause real damage, though,’ she said.

"I almost got my kingdom discovered by a few dangerous kingdoms. I am also the sole cause of my kingdom's current largest conflict." Jack said. He looked at his feet, remembering his worst mistake ever.

Mildred’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion. ‘I don’t think you ever mentioned that.’ She pulled up her legs and crossed them. ‘What’s this large conflict?’

"it's the royal lineage. They think I'm incompetent because I got my power young and then some of them believe I should marry my brother's fiancee, those people even believe I should end my brother completely to take the place of king. Some of my most angry subjects believe I planned this assassination attempt." Jack said. It hurts knowing they thought of him this way

‘Jack, you’re like 2000 years old. You’re older than time itself according to human religion, why would age be a problem? And I’ve seen you grieve your brother, it’s stupid they’d think that of you,’ Mildred said, frowning. ‘Also, marrying your brother’s fiancé is crazy to expect of you.’

"I'm still quite young in the minds of vampires. They chose nosfera for my brother's fiancee because she was as competent as he was." Jack said. He tried to avoid how uncomfortable the idea of marrying nosfera was for him. It was particularly strange because they were thousands of years apart from each other.

‘That’s ridiculous. If you’re young for a vampire, what would old be? Some human monarchs are made king or queen at 20, I heard of this one man in another kingdom who was 16,’ Mildred said.

"I got into power when I was around 1000 years old." Jack said. It was a bit of a difficult topic. He was young

‘You’ve been in power for 1000 years?!’ Mildred exclaimed, sitting up in her chair. ‘For 1000 years Alexander’s been asleep? It’s been centuries and people think you’re still not competent enough to rule?!’

"they feel I stole his place and they believe I should be married and have an heir at this point despite thinking I'm far too young." Jack said
