“Really, Cassie? Was the fact that he was about to pounce on you not enough to get that thought through your head? He could’ve hurt you on the spot!” Porak’s voice was raising to a pitch he didn’t know he had. If the circumstances were different, it would’ve been amusing to listen to.
“I wouldn’t do such a thing! That’s what sets you and I apart. I don’t pick on those who can’t defend themselves.” Kris growled.
“Excuse me? Cassie can defend herself just fine! She’s pretty strong for a human, I’ll have you know!” -
"BOTH OF YOU BE QUIET!" Cassie shouted above their bickering, drawing a few more heads that hadn't been staring before. They needed to get out of the lunchroom. She seized both boys by the collars of their shirts and dragged them out of the cafeteria and into the hallway where she let them go. "I'd rather this not be settled in a room with fifty eyes on us."
-
(The picture I got in my head when Cassie dragged them out was absolutely hilarious 💀)
Porak stared at the ground in shame as he let himself be dragged out of the cafeteria. Kris, despite the violent urge to want to fight back, sucked up his pride and instead glared at Porak with a very red face.
Once all three of them were by themselves, Porak rest his furious stare back onto Kris. “Apologize to Cassie. Right now.”
“Make me,” Kris sneered. -
(I'm sure XD)
Just then the bell marking the end of lunch rang. Cassie let out a sigh. This would have to be settled sometime later. "No one's going to make anyone do anything," she said. "Now both of you get to class. You guys might be late if you don't and both of you need time to cool down." -
(The look on their faces was absolutely PRICELESS LOL)
“Why would you care about whether I go to class or not?” Kris snapped -
"Why shouldn't I?" Cassie asked.
-
“Well, because-“
“See, you’re so stupid you can’t think of a reason!” Porak said bitterly, a salty laugh being put at the end of the childish insult. Kris narrowed his eyes at the vampire before looking back at Cassie.
“As I was saying, it isn’t any of your business.” Kris mumbled. -
"Whether it's my business or not doesn't mean I won't try to care for people around me," Cassie said. Just then the bell rang, marking the end of passing period. They had to get to class before the tardy bell rung.
Cassie started walking away from them. "I'll see you guys later," she said, rushing away. -
Porak pointed to Kris’s eyes and then to his own as an, ‘I’m watching you,’ kind of gesture. Kris shook his head and groaned, whilst Porak bounded after Cassie.
However, before Porak could get too far away, Kris grabbed his arm, forcing Porak to stop in his tracks.
“Don’t follow her, she needs space after your outburst.” Kris warned. He was about to lessen his grip on Porak, but upon the vampire trying to wiggle away from him, his hand became more firm. “Besides, you of all people know how dangerous it is to follow someone, a human, no less, after getting ready to attack someone. Your senses become more sharp, and so does your appetite. I recommend to stop neglecting your own classes and go back to them.”
Porak lowered his gaze to his feet. As much as he wanted to snap back, Kris had a point, and he had made it very clear. -
A few hours later, school was over and done with. Cassie was surprised that Porak hadn't invaded any of her classes. Actually, she kind of...missed him. She wondered why he had so suddenly stopped. Surely it wasn't because of something she did? Was he upset that she didn't take his side at lunch?
With a small sigh, she began walking home. -
Garret was walking down a sidewalk, exhausted at the long day filled with hard math questions, potion making, etc. Because he was a vampire, P.E. wasn’t too hard for him, so it didn’t take much out of him. After all, vampires are swift on their feet, and know how to dodge balls and people alike. It was child’s play, really.
All of a sudden, he spotted a figure ahead of him. That familiar head of light brown hair that glistened in the sun. Her beautiful tan skin. It was Cassandra Brand. Well, oh well, what a surprise. Porak himself, the self-declared bodyguard, wasn’t stuck to her side like glue.
Garret felt the corners of his lips perk up ever so slightly. Oh, how interesting. -
Cassie was preoccupied with her thoughts. She barely even payed attention to where she was going. Her legs knew the way perfectly. She took the same route home from school every day. So it was safe to say, she wouldn't notice Garret's eyes on her as Porak filled her mind.
-
Garret strode up to her, right beside her in no time flat. He gave her a toothy grin, purposely showing off his sharp fangs.
“Ah, Cassandra Brand! It's a surprise to see you here without Porak.” -
Cassie jumped, at Garret's sudden presence beside her. She didn't show any other alarm towards him otherwise. She shouldn't have let down her guard. It would make her an easy target.
"It would be a little odd if Porak stayed with me every waking hour of every day, don't you think?" Cassie pointed out. -
“Isn’t it normal for him to follow you around like some lost kitten?” Garret asked, raising an eyebrow.
