“I wasn’t trying to eat you though!” Garret exclaimed.
“Neither did I. All I did was take her blood.” Porak pointed out. He looked very unimpressed with Garret’s arguments. -
Cassie didn't point out that it was basically the same thing. All she wanted right now was Garret gone. "Look, Garret, just stay as far away from me as you can. Okay?"

“Can you at least promise to stay cautious around Porak? He isn’t an angel, Cassandra.”
Porak raised an eyebrow at Garret’s accusation and forced an ‘angelic’ and ‘innocent’ smile on his face out of spit. -

"I trust him," Cassie said simply. She grabbed Porak's hand and started walking. "We're going to be late," she muttered.

Porak forced himself to choke back a gasp. His eyes softened significantly as Cassie grabbed his hand. While it may have felt like a random gesture for her, time felt like it was slowing down for the beloved vampire. His dark pupils extracted to the size of bread crumbs as he tried to process the fact that this girl…. the girl he tried so desperately to gain the trust of took his hand. It felt surreal.

Cassie found a strange comfort from holding his hand. She glanced down to see if he would remove his hand, but they remained intertwined. For some reason, she didn't want him to let go.
It reminded her of a few weeks ago when Porak carried her from class to class, claiming she was his, and how adamant she was to deny such a thought.
And so, hand in hand, they walked to school. -
"Listen up, Cass. You need to stay by my side for the rest of the day, all right? I don't want Garret getting his grimy, slimy hands on you." Porak said strictly, looking down on her. There was no room for debate. He meant what he said and wasn't taking any other answer other than, 'yes.'

Cassie nodded in response. Normally she would argue against it, but for some reason she had no desire to. She did point out one problem though: "We have different classes, how are we going to do that?"
