“I’ve been a student at this school for quite some time.” Kris said with a small hum. “I just decided that it wasn’t worth coming to until now.”
-
"And what so suddenly made you decide to come back?" Cassie asked.
-
Kris brushed his bangs out of his face, averting his eyes from Cassie and falling silent.
“I suppose that things just started to appear interesting.” He said. -
"How so?" Cassie asked. She felt kind of bad that she was badgering him with questions but he had randomly sat next to her, plus he had been kind of mysterious the whole time.
-
Kris chuckled quietly to himself for a good amount of time before finally answering her question.
“Well, isn’t it interesting that someone without magical properties or monstrous traits lives in this world? Perhaps that makes the two of us closer, then.” -
"I've been here since freshman year as well," Cassie said. "But what do you mean makes the two of us closer?"
(I thought you said he was a werewolf) -
(I KNEW IT- I KNEW IT- I knew I probably made him a werewolf but then I thought that maybe I didn’t say anything. I seriously need to print out OC sheets so I don’t forget stuff.)
(WAIT, I KNOW HOW I CAN FIX MY ERROR >:D)
“You and I both have had… interesting history with Porak, correct?” -
"I don't know what kind of history you've had with him, but I know I can say mine has been...quite a rollercoaster," she answered.
-
Kris’s face morphed into one of disgust. He cringed. “Yeah, I could say the same. Except this rollercoaster never went up.”
-
"What happened?" she asked.
-
"As you should know, werewolves have packs. In each one is a leader. An alpha." Kris's face lit up with pride. "I was the alpha of that pack. The past was a wonderful time. That was, until Porak came into the picture."
-
Cassie looked at him, waiting for him to continue. She felt a horrible feeling deep in the pit of her stomach.
-
Kris continued, his voice grim.
“I had come to this school long before Porak ever thought of attending this place. He was a loner when he arrived, and often got bullied for his animalistic traits. People were scared of him, yet also mocked him. Me and my pack pitied him and took him in as one of our own despite him not being a werewolf. He gradually worked his way from the bottom of the pack to my most trusted peer in just a month. However, he started to change. The pride must’ve gotten to his head. He challenged me to a fight.”
Kris lowered his gaze even further, his fists turning a snowish white as he gripped his fork tighter and tighter with each passing word. A low growl rumbled in his throat, rising to the surface and becoming louder and louder. His dark ears were pinned against the back of his head, a sign that he was aggravated. “I lost, and he took control of the pack. He kicked me out of it, claiming that I had done him wrong when in reality I did nothing but save his pitiful self.”
The fork snapped cleanly in half. -
Cassie jumped when he broke the fork. She could imagine Porak doing that in the past. She set her hand on his arm. "I'm sorry you went through that," she said. "When I first met him he hurt and terrorized me to no ends. But then I think he gradually started to realize where he was going wrong. I haven't seen head nor tail of his pack of clan or whatever for quite a while and as far as I know he hasn't interacted with them. He's been treating me well too, he's been kind and caring. Maybe you should talk to him, see if you can give him another chance."
-
Kris had to hold himself back from instinctively snatching his arm away from the comfort of Cassie’s gentle touch. He shrugged his shoulders back and looked away from her, staring into nothing but the distance.
“I guess now you understand why I told you to stay away from him.” Kris muttered. He unclenched his fist and allowed the broken fork to fall to the ground.
