Eldgrimr sighed as if to say we're doomed. Luwanna then said "Don't worry, Mr. Androni. Just point us in the right direction, and we'll solve this in a hurry."
-
Unlike Joti, Ethelyn respected Androni's decision now that she had a better understanding. She was right; if the council had died for the cause, there would certainly be panic. Council members rarely disappeared, let alone died. And volunteering would be difficult, if not totally impossible, to manage. She sighed in defeat, scratching the back of her head and looking away to avoid eye contact.
Azariah watched Joti walk around the table. It seemed like Joti was going to be the biggest problem for their new team. They glanced at Luwanna, glad that someone else was taking control. "Yes.. We should get on with it." -
Androni smiles at Luwanna and Azariah, glad that at least these two could see reason. "Yes, of course. I have a map of the Silver Forest here, though it may not be the most accurate. Many try to avoid the forest, as you know, so maps of it come few and far between. I've circled where I think the door most likely is," Androni takes out a scroll of paper from her bag. She unfurls the map of the forest.
Then she stands. "If that's all the questions, then I'd like you all to be on your way now," Androni says. Joti jumps down from the table and a crack sounds, she's landed at just the right angle to have her boots make an indention in the floor. A look of worry about what this wild card would do next flashes on Androni's face for a second, but then Joti crosses her arms and says, "Well? What're we waiting for?" Androni sighs softly in relief.
Joti randomly points at someone, which happens to be Elgrimr, and says, "You grab the map. The sooner the better, I'm just about done with this stink hole."
Before they leave, Androni digs around in her bag again and unearths a handful of some kind of dust. She blows into it and it fills the room, and it latches onto Faris, Luwanna, Elgrimr, Azariah, Ethelyn, and Joti. Their once translucent bodies start to become opaque, you couldn't even tell that they were dead. -
Despite wearing a mask, Eldgrimr instinctively put his arms up to mask his face from the powder. When he saw what it did, he proclaimed "Devilishly clever." He then grabbed the map and looked at it.
-
Ethelyn, for the most part, was staring dully at her new team. When Androni blew the magical dust onto them, she hardly noticed. It wasn't until she realized that her body- along with the others'- looked less freaky and more normal. She grunted, putting her hands on her hips and turning her focus onto Eldgrimr.
Azariah moved closer to Eldgrimr, curious to see the map for themselves. They gazed at it, totally unsurprised by the sheer amount of trees. "I think we should start here," they explained, pointing to an area on the map. "We can work our way up.. or left, or right, or whatever suits our fancy until we find the door." -
Joti leans over both Azariah and Elgrimr to glance at the map. "Who needs a map? I've been in the forest before, I'm basically an expert," Joti says. Faris perks up in interest at this statement. "Really?" He asks. Joti nods, "Granted, I only went in a for about half a mile or so. There was this soul I was chasing down," She explains. Faris looks confused, because he was sure that him and Luwanna were the only tenebris in the group. He doesn't ask anything else though.
"Wait, before we go," Joti rushes to where Hornet was pitifully calling a 'hiding spot' and she kicks him in the groin. He doubles over and grunts in surprised pain. Before he can return to blow, Joti rushes away and out the door. "Last one to the forest is a rotten egg!" She calls as she goes. Faris stands up. "Halt, we should stick together!" Faris says as he tries to follow her. -
Eldgrimr looked at the map and figured he could figure out the way. Luwanna ran after the others and said "Hey wait up." Eldgrimr saw them run and sighed. "We're all doomed." he said, rolling up the map and running after the rest.
-
Ethelyn gasped when she saw Joti run and kick Hornet. For a moment- just a second- she felt that she could get away with kicking Enna. But she took one look at him and figured that it would be best for her to just follow after Joti. She dashed after her, not wanting to get left behind.
Azariah was very alarmed by Joti's behavior; they were further disappointed when Eldgrimr had to roll up the map and take off after everyone else. Azariah was the last to follow. As they made it to the door, they turned and glanced at the Council members. They gave them a reassuring smile, as if to silently say, I will watch over them, before quietly exiting to follow behind the rest of the group. -
(Hope you guys enjoyed controlling those council peeps cause they're mine now)
Androni returns the smile to Azariah, glad to have a levelheaded sanguinem on their ragtag collection of the saviors of all of the Netherworld. Hornet groans then grimaces as he says, "Tsk. Should've told them the whole truth." Androni shrugs. "They'll figure it out soon enough. Even though they're dead, they too will start losing their powers," She says. Enna pipes up and says, "At that point everyone else will have noticed the power loss too, and the people will look to us for explanation," he says. Androni shrugs again, then takes a sip from that mysterious cup of hers, "Don't worry too much about that. If this team fails to find the cause of the doors, we'll use them as a scapegoat.. Hm. Mishel. You've been awfully quiet. I hope you aren't having second thoughts. We talked about this," Androni pays a sharp glare to Mishel. Mishel frowns. "I just don't like how good of a liar you are. If working as the head judge of the trials taught me anything, it's that a liar will keep secrets. I feel like you know things that we don't," Mishel says. That's her main concern. Secrets. Truth. Justice. Not her dead daughter.
Androni smirks at this, "Of course I do. I'm an elder, so I won't deny that I know more than you could possibly imagine. I'm no liar, though. You'd do well to remember that this is for the greater good... and clear that frown before our next talk. Meeting adjourned." Androni takes a final sip from her cup, closes her eyes, and sighs.
...
Joti, Ethleyn, Luwanna, Eldgrimr, Azariah, and Faris are standing by the egde of the silver forest by now. It wasn't too far from the ignis trials building (everyone was a bit surprised when they saw that they were in that building this whole time; no infernum knew the exact spot where council meetings took place).
They'd all grown up with tales and dark stories about the silver forest. How the worst of the worst types of ghouls found themselves there. Almost unkillable. Old and ancient ghouls that could squash you in a second. Ghouls that had strange and scary powers. "Well, let's do this I guess. There's a worn old path somewhere.. there," Joti points at the entrance to the forest, it was somewhat cobbled and not completely overtaken by greenery. Long ago it looks like some infernum tried to make a path for travelers. Faris digs in his sheath and is pleased to find that his knife is still there, and the rest of his weapons. -
Eldgrimr looked at the map and said "Just in case we get off the path, I feel as though we should keep the map out. But let's all try and stick together to prevent that."
-
(I love all of them so much lol)
Azariah closed their eyes and channeled their focus onto summoning their staff. It materialized out of thin air, dropping into their hands. They opened their eyes and spun it around, glad to see that they still had their magic despite being dead. "I can summon a bit of light," they explained, leaning against the staff like a child leaning against a stick. "But we should brace ourselves for more problems than a dark forest."
"Is there anything worse than being dead, sanguinem?" Ethelyn snarled, glaring at Azariah. "There's just some ghouls running about. Assuming the stories are even true, anyway. I think we're hyping this stupid mission up way too much." -
"The map will barely help. Cartographers tend to avoid this place. Even though Andro circled some places we don't even know the dimensions of the damn thing," Joti points out to Eldgrimr. But Faris says "I agree with him. Better safe than sorry." This whole time since dying it was like he was in some kind of internal dilemma, but he was finally getting back to his normal self.
"Better safe than sorry," Joti mocks Faris. He gives her a wary look and says to Ethelyn, "It's okay to hype this up. It's serious, you know. Ah, and, I don't recall us introducing ourselves," Faris says. -
Eldgrimr said "Eldgrimr. And that's all the information you'll get out of me." Luwanna said "My name is Luwanna. Not the most motivated by hard working."
-
Ethelyn determined right then and there that she had favorites among the group. She crossed her arms, glowering at everyone. Especially Faris. "Ethelyn," she hissed. "But you probably knew that already, didn't you, pretty boy?"
Azariah sighed deeply, tightening their grip on their staff. This was going to be a difficult journey. "Azariah," they said, looking at all of them. "Can we please try to get along? We haven't even gotten that far into the forest.." -
"The name's Joti." Joti says simply. She takes out her brass knuckle knife and puts it on. The path was starting to thin, after being unused for so long the forest began growing over it. She used her knife to hash away some of the greenery and clear a path for everyone behind her.
"Yes, I did. And my name's Faris, not pretty boy," Faris says with a sigh. "Azariah's right. This is unknown territory, we should spend less time fighting each other and more time looking out for anything suspicious."
