Eldgrimr looked at the map and tried to get some bearings on where they were. Luwanna looked at the map with him to help decode it.
-
Ethelyn looked away from Faris, huffing in anger. She didn't want to agree with him- in fact, his warning made her want to lash out and cause more problems- but she made herself fall silent.
Azariah glanced at Eldgrimir and Luwanna, nodding to the map. "How's it going? Does it make any sense?" -
After walking for a few minutes, they were deep enough into the forest that the trees would shade even the tiniest sliver of moonlight from reaching them.
Joti looks over the map as well, trying to see if she could help, but eventually she groans and says "I think we should stop and make camp or something." She looks up and squints. Without warning, Joti takes her knife and slashes the tips of the fingers of one of her hands.
"What are you doing?!" Faris pretty much yells.
Joti ignores him and then she uses her blood powers to make the blood seeping out of her hand sharpen and harden into claws. Then she swings her arm and uses her claws to latch into a tree. "I'm gonna climb up and see if I can spot a clearing or something from higher ground," Joti explains.
"Give us a fair warning next time," Faris says with a face palm. -
Eldgrimr looked at Faris' reaction and said "We live in a world with stranger and scarier things that can do wonders beyond our comprehension and that freaks you out?"
-
Azariah's staff was the only light source in the darkness of the forest. They stayed close to Eldgrimr, wanting to rely on the only resource they had been given-- the map. When Joti hurt herself, they seemed rather unphased. "Be careful," they said to her. "Don't get yourself hurt."
-
-
"It doesn't freak me out so much as it startled me," Faris answers Eldgrimr. "I figured she might be an ignis, but I didn't know her element was blood. Color me surprised that she decided to suddenly slash at her fingers," Faris explains.
Joti scales the tree like a bug scaling a wall. Soon she's high enough to look around at their surroundings. "It looks like there's a small clearing that way!" Joti yells down at the group and points. "There's something else..." Joti murmurs quietly. She squints, far away there seems to be something giant moving around the trees. A ghoul, perhaps? She'd never imagined one could get that big. Joti frowns and climbs down. It was far enough away that it shouldn't be a problem for them, so she would stay quiet about it for now. -
Eldgrimr said "Trust me, I've seen worse." He then looked in the direction Joti pointed to on the map and looked to find the clearing she saw. He then looked to map the quickest way to get to it.
-
Azrariah watched Joti scale the tree, admiring her abilities. Despite her rather aggressive first impression, she seemed to be very smart-- a good team player, too. When she climbed down, they turned to Eldgrimr. "Is there a route we can go through to reach the clearing?" They asked. "Or will we have to make one ourselves?"
"We better not have to make one ourselves. That would be a huge waste of time!" Ethelyn spoke up. -
"It's not like we have a time limit, Eth!" Joti yells down to Ethelyn as she hangs from a branch upside down just for the fun of it. Her knees kept her from falling headfirst to the ground, but she liked the feeling of thrill. She didn't like the blood rushing to her head though so she sat back up and began to climb down after only a few seconds.
"On the contrary our time limit is unknown, but we do have one. We have no idea the rate at which human souls find this door, so the quicker we can find it the better," Faris tells Joti. Her random antics confused him. This was a serious mission, Faris didn't see how Joti could be anything other than serious. -
Eldgrimr said "I think there is a path but we may have to make most of it ourselves. It appears the quickest way to get the clearing is to go forward in the direction Joti pointed and then make a few detours around certain obstacles to reach it. Or I think it is, map reading is not my forte."
-
Ethelyn pouted at Joti. "You may not care about this, but I do. I want them to give us back our lives!" She glanced at Farris. "..I don't care about the humans, or the souls. I just care about me."
Azariah looked ahead, trying to see if the map lined up with where they were. "Mm.. Alright. Let's get a move on, then. We'll want to get as far as we can before nightfall." -
"I agree," Joti says to Azariah. She looks at Faris and Ethelyn in amusement before they start walking again, and even while they walk she doesn't stop glancing at the two and smirking.
"Why do you keep doing that?" Faris finally asks. "Oh, it's nothing. You two are just... very similar," Joti replies. "We are not!" Faris says defensively. Joti pushes aside some greenery and then lets it go and makes it smack into Faris's face. "Hey!" He says in agitation. -
Eldgrimr just shook his head at the arguments already forming in the group. He just walked and said "We're all gonna die."
-
The second Joti compares Ethelyn and Faris, Ethelyn seems to light up with pure rage. "We are hardly similar!" She shouts in agreement. She cuts herself off as Faris is smacked square in the face by a plant. A smirk crosses her face, and she follows behind them, now both pleased and amused.
Azariah shakes their head as well, sighing. "I doubt we will die. However, this will likely become more difficult of a journey than it has to be.."
