"Don't be so cruel like that, Basil.. I was concerned. You looked like you were in pain. And if we're to be companions, travelling friends, I'd rather have to be worried for your health." Cyrus made a soft 'tch' sound at the other, secretly upset that he wasn't fully what gave Basil hope. He made himself feel better by talking about his own species. "Oh, it guides me. It guides me to victory, along with my nose," he stopped to breath in sharply. "I can hunt you, if you want. By moonlight, by sunlight.. It's all the same." The alpha knew that his shuffling had gotten them both closer together now. He wanted to follow his pounding heart and get even closer. "Tell me, little lamb, how shall I hunt you?"
-
"Gee, I wasn't in pain at all. I totally didn't start screaming after my tail was cut off." Basil made his own 'tch' sound and reached out to poke the other's nose. Cyrus could be rather dense when he spoke at times, causing the lamb to believe that the wolf didn't always think about what he was saying. Or maybe Cyrus didn't think what he said was wrong. Though he was pulled from his thoughts when he could feel the other's body heat grow closer to him and a small smile came over his lips at the question. "I dunno.. I think I'd want to play with you while you hunt me."
-
"Okay, no need to get so hyped up. I knew you were hurt, I just said the wrong words. I apologize," Cyrus mumbled as his nose was poked. He looked up at the other, frowning slightly. The alpha never really thought about saying things literally, it all came out however he thought sounded okay in his head. He felt a blush take over his face as the other smiled, though it was starting to get dark enough in the room that he hoped the other wouldn't catch on. "Play with me while I hunt you? How might you be able to accomplish that, hm?"
-
"It's okay. I'm starting to get used to it, the way you think. You just..say what comes to mind, I guess." He yawned and stretched, feeling his eyes start to close again. He was so tired he didn't really see the red coming across Cyrus's face. Basil was trying to think of how he would toy with the other during a hunt. He had no doubt in his mind that the wolf would be able to catch him, but... "I want to play 'cat and mouse'. I want to play tricks on you while you hunt me."
-
"..Yeah, I guess we can put it that way. I say what I want to say, and I don't really.. Think about it." Cyrus put his finger under his chin, looking as if he were actually deep in thought. He shrugged not too soon after, looking at the lamb's gorgeous grey-blue eyes. "I don't see myself talking the way you do ever. I'm just not fit for that." The alpha laughed, rubbing his neck and scratching his scalp. He couldn't figure out what was going on in Basil's head, and it bothered him. However, it seemed as if the other was going to share a bit of what he was thinking. "Tricks, eh? I'd love to see them. In fact, I have some tricks," Cyrus lowered his voice, his eyes flickering down to Basil's lips. He knew he shouldn't be looking there, but he felt a pull towards them. And all of the sudden, he knew what 'trick' he wanted to show the lamb. He wanted to put his own lips on Basil's, to pull him into his warm chest and hold him there. A trick, the wolf said to himself, it'll be just a trick.
-
"Yeah, my big baaad wolf doesn't think about his words." Basil added a lamb sound as a joke and reached up to run his fingers over Cyrus's messy hair. He found his fingers getting stuck in tangles and decided he would comb through the wolf's head later. "We were raised differently. I was taught to pick my words, you were taught to just speak the first that comes to mind. Right?" The lamb giggled lightly at the thought of them having some kind of prankster war with each other. "Mm.. I'm sure I can think of some good ones. What tricks do you have, dear wolf?" Basil asked sweetly, curious to know what he would do.
-
"..Did you do that on purpose?" Cyrus looked surprised, and his crystal blue eyes were opened wider than normal because of it. He could have sworn that the lamb had produced a joke. The alpha's surprise grew when the lamb reached up to run his hand through the other's hair. Though he didn't get too far, the wolf had liked the feel of another's fingertips brushing his hair, and he wanted to feel it again soon. "I wasn't really taught anything, remember. I raised myself. So I didn't have to think, or be polite. I did what I wanted to, I said what I wanted to. And that was it." The wolf snorted at the other's giggling, trying to avoid his thoughts. But before he knew it, he had his hand slowly snaking around Basil's waist and pulling him close. He heard himself say, "Tricks like this one," before he blindly kissed the smaller boy. Cyrus was lucky enough to have his lips touch the others, since the heavy curtains were cutting out a lot of the afternoon light. His heart was pounding like crazy now, and he closed his eyes as he had seen lovers do.
-
"Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. What do you think?" Basil wasn't always the best with jokes, but when he felt in the mood for it, he could make a few puns and jokes. They weren't always the best, but he smiled at the reaction he got from Cyrus for doing it. He could feel the other sort of relax at the gentle head-stroking, thinking that he should do that more often to keep Cyrus calm. And wolves had surprisingly soft hair, so Basil enjoyed petting him anyway. But he shuddered at the feeling of a hand around his waist, wincing when he was pulled towards the wolf. He didn't have time to respond before the other's lips were on his own. The lamb's previously tired eyes opened wide in shock at first, but began to fall heavy when he noticed Cyrus's close eyes. After a few moments of the intimate kiss, Basil pulled back, taking a deep breath. "That's a dangerous trick.."
-
"I think you just made a joke. And I think it was cute, like you." Cyrus teased the other, knowing that he wouldn't like being called cute. The wolf couldn't help it, though- Basil was like a she-wolf, a mother. And girls were cute. He was cute, too. He felt his need to tease start to die off as he got comfortable with the lamb. The petting was soothing. It was better than any other sensation he had felt, besides what he felt as he was kissing Basil. It made him want to wag his tail out of joy. However, he focused on keeping the other in his arms now. When the lamb pulled away, he opened his eyes, taking his own deep breath. "Dangerous? I'm not dead, and it isn't life threatening. I happen to think that it was a brilliant trick."
-
"Stop calling me that.." Basil cringed, his cheeks lighting up in embarrassment. He didn't know why, but he felt like Cyrus treated him like a female, a woman, and it was starting to get to him bit by bit. The lamb dropped his head on the other's shoulder to hide his face, finding himself holding onto the other. This was dangerous, being this close to each other. Wolves and lambs could never be like this. If he were a woman, their species could never cross to have children, they'd be infertile to each other. And they weren't meant to get along. Wolves ate lambs. But still, Basil wanted nothing more than to be this close to Cyrus all of the time. "It's far from brilliant..It's very dangerous, for me anyway."
-
"I can't say the truth? What a pity," Cyrus mumbled unhappily when he felt Basil move slightly to show his disdain. "You really are cute, you know? Sheep have always been.. Cute. As are other, smaller animals that I can eat." He gave the lamb an evil smirk, flashing his canines as if to scare him a little. Though he'd never admit it, he had a thing for smaller, cute animals. They were his favorite to look at and eat at the same time. But, he couldn't see himself eating Basil. Or any more of Basil's kind. He wanted to preserve lambs just for the boy in his arms. The wolf held back a noise as Basil dropped his head onto his shoulder. "How is it dangerous? I won't kill you. I'm merely holding you. Keeping you warm, too. It's a rather nice gesture."
-
"It's so degrading when you say it though." Basil felt as if he were putting more pressure on his tail and shifted onto his stomach again, half lying on the wolf now. But he didn't mind since, as Cyrus said, he was warm. "Well, you're not gonna eat me." He rolled his eyes at the other's teeth and relaxed in his hold, closing his eyes. He knew the wolf had spared his people for him, so lambs were no longer a part of the pack's diet. And he really didn't want to explain why he felt it was dangerous, knowing that his thoughts would be exposed to the other. But with a red face, he sighed. "What if...we did more? And you got rough or lost control? Then I would be in danger.."
-
"How is it degrading?" Cyrus protested, looking at him in a mixture of confusion and something else. "Do I say it funny? I can say it differently, if it means I get to call you cute..." He stayed where he was, knowing that the lamb had gotten comfortable on his chest. He started to rub Basil's arm, sighing softly. He was glad that the lamb hadn't flinched away from his kiss, and was even more happy that he had stayed in it for quite some time. The wolf laughed as the lamb responded, nodding. "I'd never eat you." Blue eyes glowing in the slight light coming through the curtains, Cyrus laid there with the other in his arms. For the first time in a long time, he was happy with someone outside of his pack. "I have a feeling you'll be able to stop me. Oh, come on, little lamb! I promised I'd take care of you.. Look, let me prove to you I'll play nice," Cyrus shuffled so he could kiss Basil's cheek.
-
"You make me sound like a woman. It's degrading to call me cute. And I don't want to be called cute." Basil huffed, puffing his cheeks in annoyance. He relaxed at the gentle arm rubbing, settling back onto the wolf's chest. The room had gotten darker with the closed curtains so that only a stream of light cut through. He looked up Cyrus, loving the way his eyes shone in that small bit of light. "And what if I can't? What if you ignore my pleas for you to stop? Treat me kindly, dear wolf, and I'll take care of you forever." The lamb blushed at the kiss to his cheek and gave a shy smile.
-
"I.. Apologize, little lamb. But I can't help it. When I see you, I think of the word cute. I can go a step up to adorable, I suppose." He chuckled at Basil's huffing. Moving a hand, he gently poked at his cheeks, smiling. Cyrus was comfortable feeling the weight of the other boy leaning against him. The wolf was happy that Basil was staying with him. He had a companion, and now, he felt their companionship getting stronger and stronger. "Don't put so little trust in me, little lamb," the wolf huffed, offended. "I know how to stop. That's why I didn't kill you when you angered me.. Why I attacked only the bad man and not everyone in sight..." He trailed off into silence upon catching the other's smile. He loved it. No, he loved Basil. "Basil.."
