"Okay." Basil muttered to himself and nestled closer to Cyrus. He could feel the wolf's growls rumble in his chest, so the smaller wrapped his arms around the other's upper body. "Shh, Cyrus..." He soothed as he tried to relax himself in preparation for the needle. The lamb knew that would be the end of the worst of his pains. He sucked in a deep breath and gripped Cyrus's back in anticipation of the stitching. Basil looked up at his wolf and placed a light kiss under his chin.
-
Cyrus relaxed as Basil kissed him under his chin. He felt like he could be calmer with the other beside him. Anyone else would only make him mad. Closing his eyes, he held the other as he had while they slept- close to him, enough so he could feel his breaths tickling his ear. Though, he did have to let him go slightly, so the doctor could stitch up his tail without having to climb over the bed to reach him. "I can't help it, little lamb." He watched the woman as she began to stitch up his tail, and even though he wasn't the one who was injured, he cringed at how slow the process was.
-
Basil dug his nails into the wolf's back and whined when his tail was touched again, though as soon as the needle pierced his skin, a more distressed sound - similar to his cries earlier - escaped him. He didn't like it, not as if he had expected to but more so as in he hated the feeling. He knew Felicity couldn't rush it, but he wished she wasn't this unbearably slow. The lamb vowed to be more careful wherever he was. He had no intention of ending up with anymore stitches anywhere else.
-
Cyrus whined softly as he felt Basil's nails dig into his skin. The motion didn't hurt him nearly as much as he thought it would, but it still pained him. He closed his eyes, not wanting to watch the doctor stitch up the skin around Basil's tail. Instead, he held his lamb close, pretending like he wasn't being an overly jealous person. It was all he could do to help clam the lamb down. The needles probably hurt as much as Basil's nails. "It's okay, little lamb," Cyrus cooed to him. "She's probably almost done.." The alpha stole a glance. "She's definitely almost done."
-
Basil's breaths turned to soft panting and his forehead was beading with a bit of sweat. He really didn't like this pain, but when Cyrus held him close like this, it distracted him from some of it. Not to mention the reassurance that the doctor was almost finished caused him to smile and nod at the wolf. The lamb buried his face in the other's shoulder again, feeling rather gross from his involuntary sweating. He would need a bath afterward, though he wasn't sure of how to keep the bandage from getting wet.
-
Felicity was done in the next few minutes, a few drops of sweat forming along her forehead. She had to be careful with her work; his tail was important to him, and she didn't want to stitch it so it would fall out. She knew that traveling with a pack of wolves would cause for many incidences in which he could accidentally ruin the stitches before his tail healed. She didn't know if they'd return to her for help. "There. Now, I'll have to take someone back with me to retrieve proper pain medication. For now, wolf, come here. I'll show you how to properly wrap a tail wound."
Grumbling, Cyrus pulled away from Basil for the first time in hours, sliding over the bed to the doctor's side. -
Basil fully relaxed once Felicity was finished, though he could feel a dull pulsing pain, it didn't really hurt anymore. He felt like he could finally rest, but pouted when Cyrus moved since they had to shift around for him to get out from under the lamb. "U-Um.. How will I be able to bath with the bandage on? Or can I take off and wrap a new one when I'm finished?" He asked softly, watching them as the doctor showed the alpha how to wrap his nub of a tail.
-
Without looking up at the lamb, Felicity explained, "You'll have to take it off in order to take a bath. However, you'll be able to put a new one on. I can give you a some supplies that are stronger than what your friend used." Then, she showed Cyrus how to apply the bandage so it was tight yet wouldn't harm the lamb. When she finished explaining, she started to pack up her bag. All that was left on the bed was a small pill. "Take that while I'm gone. It will soothe your pain. I can give you more, for your later journeys, but it would cost you."
"I don't care," Cyrus said with a wave of his hand. "If it will help my little lamb, I'll take it." -
"Okay. Thank you very much." Basil gave her a sweet smile before she left, unsure if she saw it or not. It didn't matter that much, he was just glad to be able to relax. He blushed a bit as he picked up the little pill, glancing at Cyrus before looking back at the medication. He was flattered at how much the alpha seemed to care for his well-being. It was like a drastic change that seemed to happen over night. "You don't have to spend a lot on me, Cyrus.." Basil remembered what the other had said when the first met, that he would be treated as a servant to the wolf, or worse. He was told he wasn't a prince among them, but now, it seemed that the wolf was treating him as just that; Royalty. "Could you get me some to drink with this..please?"
-
Cyrus was tense the whole time he waited for her to leave the room. He liked having the lamb all to himself. He was fine sharing with Molly, of course, but anyone else made his stomach churn in anger. The crystal blue eyes focused on Basil as he took the pill in his grasp. "Don't worry about it. It wouldn't be very nice of me to let my companion get sick and injured. We might as well take this woman's advice." He looked at the pill, and it reminded him vaguely of what he wanted to do with Basil before all of this. He calmly told himself he'd still do it. No one would change the great alpha Cyrus. "Sure. Wait here." Already out of the bed, the wolf went to the bathroom to get a cup of water for the other male.
-
"I don't think I'll get sick from pain. I just don't know if these pills will be necessary. Then again.. It'd be nice to walk if even just for a little while." Basil smiled at the other, watching him wake into the washroom. He took one last look at the pill before putting it in his mouth and waiting. Though after a few moments, he began to shiver from the lack of warmth that the wolf had offered when they were lying together. The lamb reached down to grab the edge of the covers, slowly pulling them over himself.
-
"I'm not saying you'll get sick from the pain, just being sick in general.. I can't allow it. If you're injured, you're--" the wolf hesitated, for he was about to say something cold. "..You're going to have a hard time keeping up, is all. We'd have to stop our travels. Not that I'd mind, but we need you healthy. Not in pain." Once he returned with the water, he noted that the other was cold. Instead of curling back up with him, he set the cup on the little desk beside the bed, smiling. "I need to go give the wolves the money they need for her trip and the medicine. I'll send Molly in to watch over you. Will you be okay, Basil?"
-
"I won't get sick. And..I get it, I guess. Though you could just carry me everywhere. You don't know if those pills will make me sleepy or not." Basil teased as he reached for the water to gulp down the medication. As much as he wanted to argue with the wolf, he decided not to. It would only exhaust him more and it was clear that Cyrus had to go take care of the payment for having a doctor see him and for the medication. He nodded and nestled into the bed sheets. "I'll be fine. I'm sure she'll be happy to see I'm okay, too."
-
"Mm, now you're just arguing with me. And.. I don't really have the strength to carry you everywhere. I'd rather spend another night at the inn than carry you, or have one of the other wolves carry you." Cyrus gave him a fake disgusted look, though he was smiling soon after. He actually liked the idea of being able to carry him. It would mean that he had some control over what Basil did, and who got to approach him. Half daydreaming about this ideal action, he headed to the door. "Alright. Stay safe, little lamb." With those words, he was gone.
A few minutes later, Molly came skipping into the room, pleased. "Baaaasil~!" She cooed at him. "How're you?" -
"Maybe I am." Basil cooed at the wolf and grinned at the look on his face. "Don't look at me so grossly." He huffed before finishing his water and relaxing into bed. "I wouldn't mind an extra day of rest either. He was curious of what was going through Cyrus's head but at the same time he didn't. Who knew what all what going through the alpha's head? He rolled his eyes at the other as he left. "How will I not be safe?" He huffed and tried to close his eyes before Molly came in. He smiled down at the pup and giggled. "I'm alright, Molly. Did I scare you?"
