"Ugh.. Please stop with the endearments. You're just trying to make me upset now, aren't you?" Basil pouted and made a small noise when his cheeks were poked at. He didn't like people noticing his face, how round and..cute it was. His face turned a shade of red again and he hid himself in the wolf's shoulder until the heat and color faded. He peeked up at the other at the mention of trust. "I trust you, just not your animal instincts.. You never know when you'll lose control of yourself." The lamb shifted to rest his head under Cyrus's chin, glancing at him when his name was called, thinking the other was going to ask him something. "Yes, Cyrus?"
-
"Pfft, of course I'm not. I'm doing this all for the sake of being a nice, friendly little wolf that knows what his lamb wants.." Cyrus grinned mischievously, sticking his tongue out teasingly at the other. He couldn't help himself, but for some reason, Basil was bringing out another part of him. And the lamb was the only one he paid such close attention to- someone he had learned about, studied. "Well, I know I can't control the animal in me, but I can try as much as I can. I promise I'll try, if you'll let me in.." He smiled as he paused, inhaling. "Oh, nothing. I just wanted to hear your name come from my mouth." He closed his eyes, relaxing into the bed.
-
"If you know what your lamb wants, then why do you keep ignoring your lamb's wishes for you to not calm him cute?" He rose an eyebrow at the other, rolling his eyes. Basil could sense something different about the other, and he was glad when it wasn't threatening. He didn't know about the rest of the pack, but he felt as if he'd seen so many different sides of Cyrus, and the lamb enjoyed putting the pieces of the wolf together. "..Okay. I'll let you in. But you don't have to try, you have to do. There's a strong line between 'try' and 'do'." Basil huffed and relaxed against Cyrus. "You're weird. Go to sleep, Cyrus." With that, the lamb began to drift, falling asleep rather quickly.
-
"That's one wish that I don't think I can complete. I'll use adorable and the like, but you can't stop me from saying those words. They fit you so well!" Cyrus somehow managed to giggle a bit, winking at the lamb. No matter what expression he had, Basil was always able to catch the wolf's attention. In a way, he was the only one who was different. His soul sent off vibes to the night hunter, ones that made him want to shudder in excitement. "I can't promise anything, though! C'mon, Basil, please don't force me to do this. I just want to hunt you and be by your side occasionally.. Doing isn't my favorite thing, trust me." The wolf puffed out his cheeks, staring at the other with a look that was missing joy. He grunted when the other boy called him weird, looking down at his own shirt. "Goodnight, little lamb," the alpha murmured.
-
"Oh hush before I start calling you 'puppy'..." Basil mumbled just before losing consciousness. Despite how much he wanted to argue with the wolf about the endearments, he lacked the energy to do so. He could hear Cyrus talking to him after, but he wasn't woken by his words. The other's voice did the opposite and helped him stay asleep and at ease. Knowing that he was there to watch over and protect the lamb gave the smaller reassurance and security. The prince wouldn't mind if Cyrus hunted him if it meant they could be near each other for eternity. A small smile tugged at his lips as he unconsciously adjusted on top of the other, clinging to him almost like a child.
-
Cyrus opened his mouth as if he were going to argue with the lamb, but he was soon fast asleep. The wolf could tell by the way his breathing slowed and his body completely relaxed in his arms. He got his head comfortable on the pillow, staring at the other boy. Moving his hand around, the alpha shifted and froze when the other clung to him in his sleep. "Oh, damn you," there was a playful tone as he spoke to the sleeping lamb. With much difficulty, Cyrus was starting to realize what the emotion in his chest identified as: love. He had only ever known that word to be a part of others' lives, but never his own until he had taken Basil. He laughed to himself as he remembered that it had only been just a few days ago that the alpha and his pack had forced the lamb to join their family. Those thoughts followed him into a light sleep, where he dreamed about chasing Basil through the woods beneath moonlight.
-
Basil made small noises throughout his rest, mostly huffs of air and the occasional sheepish sound. They weren't filled with fear or pain or anything of concern though. They were joyful and happy sounds as the lamb dreamed of being back home, only with Cyrus and Molly living among them. It was as if he'd never left and was still sitting outside, playing with the young lambs and telling them stories. He even still adorned the flower crown that had been returned to the girl who made it before he'd left. When he wasn't with the children, he was alone with Cyrus, cuddled up somewhere in the large meadow and inching closer to each other like before. His pale eyes fell shut as they were centimeters apart, then.. Basil opened his eyes to find the sun beginning to set. He was still in the old inn, lying in the wolf's arms. The base of his tail stung as he tried to stretch and a small moan escaped him.
-
Cyrus had still been having light dreams when he felt Basil stir in his arms. He grunted, moving around and opening his eyes. The light in the room that was pouring through the curtains was a soft orange-yellow, showing signs of the afternoon. Crystal-blue eyes locked on Basil's grey-blue ones, allowing a smile to come to the wolf's face. "Morning, sunshine. Or should I say afternoon? We slept through the morning." He pulled his arm out from under Basil's body, shaking it. His arms were aching from the lamb's weight. He didn't mind too much, though, since their shared body heat kept him warm through their nap.
-
Basil looked up at him, apologizing lightly for disturbing him. "I didn't mean to bother you.." The lamb shifted, still finding himself in pain and uncomfortable. And it seemed the moment he moved, that pain shot up his spine, causing him to shake uncontrollably. He didn't want to bother the wolf anymore than he already had, but it was beginning to cripple him, how much the base of his tail hurt. He didn't know if they would even be able to see a doctor, but he wanted to try. "A-Ah..Cyrus.." Basil was on the verge of tears and had to take a deep breath in an attempt to keep the tears at bay. "I need a doctor. This hurts too much! Please, help me..help me find someone.."
-
"Bother me? I decided to rest with you, it's not your fault. Little lamb.." Cyrus's voice wavered when he realized that Basil wasn't doing okay. He was vaguely aware that the lamb's tail was an important part of him. It looked like without it, he would be in pain. The other shifted, sitting up fully and frowning down at him. "A doctor? We are in a town.. Molly!"
At the sound of her name, the little pup threw the door open and gazed at the two of them. "Tell two of the wolves to go ask around for the nearest doctor. Basil's condition is hurting him." Molly nodded and scampered off to go do so. The alpha turned his attention back to Basil, stroking his hair fondly. "It will be okay, my little lamb." -
Basil couldn't control himself anymore. He squeezed Cyrus's hand, releasing a variety of distressed and loud sheep sounds as tears streamed from his eyes. He couldn't help crying, yelling out. He'd only ever wish such pain on the person that had done this to him. "Meeeeh! Baah baah! MEEEH!" The lamb's body continued to shake as pain seemed to pulse through him like electricity. It rattled his bones and caused his muscles to twitch. He couldn't imagine a worse pain, and was more than just a little embarrassed when Molly could see and hear him in his state. Basil was breathing heavily as the wolf stroked his hair. It was somewhat comforting. "Cyruuus..."
-
Cyrus was unsure of how to respond to Basil's howling and crying. He was barely useful when the pups had tummy aches, or if the she-wolfs were struggling with a cold or wound from a particularly nasty catch. All he could do was stroke the other's hair, sighing and leaning to kiss the other on his forehead. "I'm sorry, little lamb, I'm sorry. If I had stopped him.." The wolf clenched his teeth, balling one of his hands into a first. "We could have ended his miserable life. I could have gotten revenge. But I was too slow, and this is my fault." He sighed a shaky sigh, closing his eyes. He could see himself waking up to see Basil gone- the man who was usually in the lobby was missing, and the wolves that were lounging around telling him that he had left with Molly a while ago. He was going to go out, but Molly came bursting into the Inn, shrieking about some man. If only Cyrus had run faster.
-
Basil whimpered while he was pet by Cyrus, listening to him closely and lightly shaking his head. "N-No. It's not your fault.." He cringed a bit as he spoke, his voice cracking from the pain. "We shouldn't have gone without you. Had you been there, maybe..maybe he wouldn't have bothered us at all. I-I'm sorry. I should've t-told you to come with us..." The lamb felt more tears stream from his eyes as he attempted to nuzzle the wolf when he kissed his forehead. But even that caused him some pain so he gripped the other's hand firmly. "Cyrus.." He whined and peeked up at him, admiring his eyes for the hundredth time. Basil didn't want to think about how the current events would change his life, it may not change it much at all, and he knew that it would be a long time before he fully healed. During that time, he didn't want Cyrus to leave his side. The lamb wanted to be held, comforted, protected, and even pampered by the wolf. More soft sounds escaped his throat as he slipped his arms around Cyrus's waist, never wanting to let him go. "Don't leave me alone..."
-
The wolf's rather strong demeanor softened at Basil's pain. He continued to gently pet the other's hair, holding him close to his chest for comfort. He was glad to feel the beating of the other male's heart. An alive Basil was certainly better off than a dead one, Cyrus tried to think positive about the situation. Even if Basil was in terrible, terrible pain. "I wasn't aware such awful people could be in this town. I've never had problems with kidnappers before. I wouldn't have minded you both leaving without me, even if I said we were going to go out together," the alpha took the chance to scold the other lightly. "This just means you'll have to listen to me now." He fell silent as the other nuzzled him, and not too long after, the other was holding him as well, begging for him not leave. Cyrus rested his chin on Basil's head, closing his eyes. "I won't go."
-
The lamb was panting softly, trying to relax and get somewhat comfortable in the other's hold, but he couldn't ignore the pain near his backside. He knew the nerves and bone were exposed, although wrapped in bandages, and knew that they were likely the source of it all. It would take a long time for the nub to adjust. His heart was beating fast in his chest and he flinched when he was scolded by the other. All he could mutter was an "I'm sorry" before hiding his face in the wolf's shoulder. Basil weakly squeezed his arms around Cyrus, realizing just how toned the wolf was, despite how small he looked. A blush came over him at the worst time possible, so the lamb huffed a distraction, "It can't take this long to find a doctor.."
