"But I'm oh so sweet at the same time, ain't I?" The lamb gave an innocent smile to the other, it was almost as if he were teasing him. "Dogs most definitely vary in tail length. I feel like some cats do, too, but I'm not sure. I know cats vary by hair length and thickness. And like I said, they aren't all injuries. Some lambs have their tails..docked in order to stay cleaner when they do their business." He smiled at the way Cyrus used examples to make sense of a subject. Basil hummed and nodded lightly, staring at the wolf, finding himself in those eyes again. "That's true. I hope I can find some vegetables though, some grains and greens would be nice." He then put his attention back on Molly, taking her hands to kiss each of the small cuts in an apologetic manner. "You were very fast. Probably the fastest wolf here!" He encouraged, grinning. "And you should wrap these up to keep dirt out, okay? We can probably help that if Cyrus gets me the bandages from the washroom."
-
"Sweet? I suppose you might be.. Just a little bit." Cyrus mocked growled at the smile, a grin taking over his face. "Dogs can vary in fur thickness as well. That's why there are branches of dogs and cats, if you will.. It's to categorize them by coat colors, fur, things of that sort. I guess it doesn't all go for your kind, but it's interesting to think about it like that," he paused, then shrugged to show that he hadn't caught that last bit. "I see now.. Interesting. Did you know many lambs that got their tails cut off for health?" The alpha was rather curious to know how many others had short tails. He rather liked smaller tails, like those on a bobcat. He hoped that Basil would look cute with a small one now. "We'll help you look for some. You aren't the only vegetation lover."
Molly giggled at Basil's gesture, wiggling her fingers. "I am the fastest. The fastest pup, anyway. I want to be the fastest wolf, but I think the alpha and some of his friends are faster than me.." She looked over at Cyrus, her nose twitching. "Okay." Cyrus groaned as he heard himself get volunteered to stand up. He slithered out of the bed, going to the bathroom to get the remaining wrap for Molly's fingers. -
"You know I am." Basil huffed with a bit of a pout before resting against the pillows with a hum. "Cats and dogs, so similar yet different in so many ways. And I'm not sure if I knew any that did or not. Actually...I think my father had a shorter tail, but not this short. It's one those things you don't focus on much when you live with people that all look similar. Same race, you know?" The lam stared off, thinking back on his family, trying to recall a time when he'd seen the king's tail. It had definitely been shorter, but Basil had never known or found out why it was. He shook it off, smiling when Cyrus got up to get the bandages. "Thank you, and I look forward to you helping me find food." He pet the pup's head gently. "I think you could be the fastest. You've got a lot of growing to do before then. Then you can beat Cyrus in a race~" He winked, giggling a bit.
-
"I don't know what you are, really. I mean, you were just talking about violent ways to rip a man's head off.. Sweet people don't usually talk about things like that, now do they?" Cyrus yawned loudly, making a soft whine as his tail tickled his legs. It was hard to get comfortable with Molly hogging some of his space. "Yeah.. And I get it. I guess it's not normal for your race, so I'm not surprised that you wouldn't quite notice anything." The other quit talking about it when he rose and disappeared into the bathroom, though he was quick to return and sit at the edge of the bed holding the bandages.
"I could be the fastest? Hmm.. I want to be, badly. And I want to beat the alpha!" Molly giggled with Basil, grinning. "Alpha, I challenge you to a race when I get bigger!"
"Uh-huh," Cyrus said without really listening to the pup. "Sure. Whatever. Take this," he forced the bandages into Basil's hands. "You can patch her up since I had to stand up." -
"You haven't seen me when I'm happy. I'm the sweetest." Basil pursed his lips and shifted to lie on his belly, cringing whenever his tail subconsciously twitched. He rose an eyebrow at the other, not sure of what he was saying but shrugged. He focused on Molly, listening to her dream of beating Cyrus, and was a bit annoyed when the alpha seemed to ignore what she was saying. It was rather rude in his mind, even if the wolf didn't believe the pup would beat him, it'd be nice if he gave her some attention. The lamb scoffed and carefully wrapped Molly's small fingers, finding that he didn't need much to do the job. He set the rest of the bandage roll aside and settled into bed. It was barely lunch time yet he was exhausted by the day's events. "You can beat him, Molly. I know you can." Basil encouraged her, petting her head. "Wanna take a nap with me? I really need one right now."
-
"I thought I have seen you happy, though. Whenever you're with that little girl, Molly, you look pretty happy. I don't think you're any more cute, or sweet then compared to how you are now." Cyrus's nose twitched as he wondered why Basil hadn't responded to his other words, though he decided that it wouldn't matter. He leaned on his arm, trying to not doze off while the kid was sitting there with them. He wasn't really interested in what she was saying, though when he saw a look on the lamb's face, he sighed and closed his eyes.
"I mean to say.. Challenge accepted," the alpha said softly to the pup. Molly still looked pleased either way, trying to keep still as the lamb wrapped up her injuries. "Yay! I have Basil on my side, alpha!" She squirmed around as a celebration dance. Upon hearing the word "nap", she cringed, looking at him unhappily. "Nap..? I.. I could.." -
"So what's that supposed to mean?" Basil yawned and stretched a bit, still being cautious of his tail. He didn't want to talk about his short tail anymore, and he'd figured that Cyrus had been done talking about it, too, but something about the wolf's face gave him the idea that he wanted to keep talking about it. "If it's not normal, I would've noticed more. But I was young, and my father never talked about his short tail, so I never asked." The lamb gave the pup a small smile as she squirmed about, giving her bandaged fingers another kiss. Upon seeing her frown, he shook his head. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I just thought I'd ask because I'm really tired after what happened this morning. And I know how much you love to watch over me and protect me." Basil giggled lightly and settled into his pillow, pulling the sheets over himself.
-
"What do you mean, 'what's that supposed to mean'? It means you don't act sweet even when you're happy. You're just.. You, I guess." Cyrus shrugged his own words off, shifting once more to be able to sit at the right angle on the bed. He was slightly surprised to hear say something about his father, though he knew he had asked about it. "Ahh, I see.. Thanks for answering me. I'll have to do my own search on your species at some point, so I can learn more." He smiled a bit, watching Basil act like Molly's father. It was interesting to see the bond between the two unfold like it was, and Cyrus rather enjoyed watching it.
"I do like making sure you're okay and all, but I'm just not positive about that napping part. Naps are groooooooss. Maybe I can wait outside and make sure no other bad guys come around.. You two can nap all you want, okay, Basil?" Molly slowly left her spot on the bed by climbing over the alpha again. She heard him grunt at the pain and giggled, "Sorry!" -
"Oh shut it.." Basil stuck his tongue at the wolf. He knew the other was trying to compliment him, but it'd be nice if he weren't so vague or cliche about it. He shrugged when Cyrus said something about research. "There isn't much to know about lambs, unless you want to research my diet. We're just...fuzzy creatures. We can make clothing and bedding out of our hair. That's something you probably didn't know, but now you do." The lamb gave Molly another pat on the head before nodding at her and watching her climb down. "Naps can be good for you, Molly. Sometimes people, even adults like me and Cyrus need them to stay energized. But you can sit outside the door if you'd like." He laughed lightly when she acted like a guard dog, watching for 'bad guys'. "My little heroine. Thank you, Molly. When I get up, I promise we, Cyrus and I, will take you to get something sweet to return the favor. Okay?"
-
"I'll never shut it, though you can try to get me to." Cyrus smiled at Basil's tongue gesture, pleased that he could get such a reaction from the other. He rubbed his neck, looking down at the bed sheets. He couldn't put his finger on it, but he felt attracted to the lamb. He loved seeing him smile. He wanted more smiles from him, more emotions. The other just couldn't put his finger on why he felt this way, though. "Your diet is plants and weeds, am I not mistaken? Perhaps I can just ask you about your species.. Heh! Make me a sweater, okay?" The alpha grinned a bit, teasing the other. His grin faded into a light smile as he watched Molly go over to the door. He was starting to see how cute she was- probably what Basil saw her as.
"Outside is best! I'll see you later, Basil-wasil. Hehe, okay.. I like sweet things. We can go shopping tomorrow.. With the pack." She grinned at him before darting outside and closing the door behind her. -
"Maybe I'll ask the doctor to sew up your lips for awhile. Though that could be bad if you were to get sick or anything." Basil didn't know why Cyrus gave him this look of...what he assumed was longing. He couldn't really tell. He was pulled from his thoughts at the assumption that he only ate weeds and plants and shook his head, sighing. "You have a lot to learn about lambs, Cyrus.. And if I grow that much hair, then maybe. I'm thinking blankets for traveling first. Some little blankets for pups and loners." The lamb couldn't help thinking about all of the possible children that were outside his room, among the rest of the pack. Still wondering if they were similar to Molly. He smiled at the little girl, laughing at his nickname. "All right, Molly-wolly. I'll see you later, and that sound fun, going out with everyone."basil waved lightly at the girl, smiling warmly before settling to lie on his belly, starting to drift from his exhaution.
-
"No thank you, that would hurt. And I'd scare the living daylights out of the pups," Cyrus shook his head, imagining what it would feel like to have sewn up lips. He figured it wouldn't be comfortable, and he would probably tug on them to try to be able to speak. But his mind floated away from that topic and focused on Basil himself. Basil, Basil, Basil. His name wasn't rare, but it was different. The alpha couldn't help but think about how they had been so close. He realized that he could have kissed the other, and suddenly, the urge to kiss the lamb got stronger than ever before. He clenched his fists, starting to dig his nails into his palms. The wolf knew that it wasn't going to be alright for the other, but he wanted to do something with him badly. "A lot, hm? And what do you know about wolves? Anything other than the fact that we eat meat?" He hummed, watching Molly leave.
-
"But it would make you shut it~" He sang lightly as he yawned, closing his eyes and listening to the other whenever he spoke. He didn't know why, but he felt extremely comfortable around the alpha, wanting to be closer to him again. The lamb knew how close they were to making..intimate contact. But he didn't think much of it, that it was just a 'heat of the moment' kind of thing. He didn't know what Cyrus was really thinking while he looked at him. Basil hummed lightly and shrugged at the question. "Wolves either live in packs or alone, and they prefer the night over the day especially when the moon shines. Doesn't have to be full though.."
-
"Deep down, you know you love the sound of my voice. Don't deny it, little lamb. My voice gives you hope. I saw it in your eyes when I broke open that door and came to rescue you." Cyrus's crystal colored eyes were seemingly glinting, hiding what was going on in the alpha's head. They were alone now, he could say whatever he wanted to and not get in the slightest bit of trouble with anyone. Moving his arm under his head, he turned his body to face the lamb. They were closer now that he had moved. His heart started to beat faster again. "We are one of the fastest creatures of the night. The moonlight only helps guide our pitiful prey through the forest while they are chased to their deaths."
-
"Or maybe I was just hopeful to see someone that can't stand the idea that another was harming me? And did I hear concern in your voice when my tail was removed?" Basil could feel the other move around, rolling over so they were a bit closer. His eyes opened to peek at him then closed again when he felt how heavy his eyelids were. He could tell the other was getting cocky again, the tone of his voice was clear about that. "Doesn't the moonlight guide you, too? I find the moon to be...invigorating. Are you going to hunt me, Cyrus? Because I already told you..maybe I want to be hunted."
