Cyrus listened to the unsteady breathing of the other boy, careful not to shift around in fear of hurting more than Basil's tail. He frowned watching the other try to shift around and get comfortable, only to have a pained look on his face. It was truly a sad sight for the wolf. "Don't worry, Basil. It's okay. A mistake doesn't make you a bad person..." He trailed off as the other buried his face into his shoulder. The lamb was so fragile he was afraid he'd break. As he was looking away from the smaller, he listened to what he was saying, laughing. "Well, we've never been in this town before, so I wouldn't expect them to be too quick."
-
Basil puffed his cheeks at what the wolf said. "I don't think...I'm a bad person.. You were--" He paused to take a shaky breath, a soft whine escaping him. "You were scolding me for it." As much of an irritation Cyrus could be at times, the lamb was appreciative of the other being there to comfort him. Though he felt like a small child the way the wolf held him. As if he would break from one wrong movement or touch. But Basil didn't mind as much as he normally would have, which he probably should have given the way he despised the endearments the other used to describe him. He brought one hand to Cyrus's, entwining their fingers and lightly squeezing to distract himself. "It'd just be nice..if they'd hurry up. I could die."
-
The wolf's ears went back slightly at the sight of Basil's pouting. He looked away for a moment, embarrassed that he had misunderstood the other. "I apologize, Basil. Didn't know that was what bothered you. I was.. Well, you had to know. Don't take it to heart, though. I'll make sure to scold you even more later." The alpha offered him a joke, knowing that he was still in pain. He didn't want to be a bother when the other was in such pain. He glanced down at their obtained hands, squeezing back. "Aww, don't be such a worry butt. It can't be that bad. You'll live. I'm sure they're running as fast as they can."
-
The lamb rested against the other, still trying to even out his breathing. "You better apologize.." He murmured before closing his eyes. His body was beginning to feel numb from the long wait and he felt as if all he wanted to do was sleep. But he tried to stay awake until someone arrived, not wanting to be shocked by whatever new pains would come. He peeked narrowed eyes at the wolf and shook his head slightly. "Your humor is awful. And unless they're literally across town, someone should've been here by now." Basil could hear his own voice, barely. He could form sentences but it was so quiet that it was as if he were trying to whisper. The lamb's throat hurt and his body exhausted from pain. "..I'm taking a nap after all of this.."
-
Cyrus puffed out his cheeks, listening to the other's breathing. He couldn't imagine the horrible pain the other was in. It made the wolf feel unsettled, listening to his cries. "I did, obviously. It was my mistake to say such a thing." He looked off to the side, worried. The wolves were taking a long time to get back. The other was limp in his hold, weak. He tilted his head at the other's look, slowly starting to get amused. He pushed the worries aside. "No, it's great. I'm hilarious. You just aren't showing that you're laughing."
Before Cyrus could say more, the door was thrown open, and a woman strode into the room. Two wolves were behind her, telling her that she must not charge in- but she was ignoring them. Her eyes locked on Basil. "Are you the patient?" she asked coolly. -
"..I'm going to kick you while you sleep. Just so you know." Basil huffed, turning his head to look at the door when he heard others coming. Finally, someone had shown up to tend to him. As sarcastic as he wanted to be at that moment, he refrained from any rude comments and simply nodded with a wince. He also didn't know what the woman was like, so upsetting her might end in even more pain through the treatment process. "My..My tail. What's left of it anyway..." The lamb frowned, glancing away from her to hide his face in Cyrus's shoulder again.
-
She was at Basil's side in seemingly an instant, her face leaning close to his. "Show me your tail, please. I'd like to see it. I should be able to teach you how to wrap it up to reduce pain, and give you proper medicine.." Her eyes flickered to Cryus, and for a moment she looked irritated, but it was gone before the slow alpha noticed anything.
"Are ya sayin' I can't take care of someone?" Cyrus growled at her, not caring if she was a doctor. The woman merely ignored him as she had the other wolves. -
Basil nodded as he sat up, cringing at the pain and leaning in to nuzzle Cyrus's cheek. "Shh.. You stopped the blood, that's all that mattered at the moment." The lamb adjusted for his tail to be seen by the woman. He glanced back to look at it himself, ignoring the tears that brimmed in his eyes from both the pain and the sight of the nub. He missed having it there, even though it didn't do much but hang from his lower back. It felt weird not having that slight amount of weight. "She's a professional though... She'll make sure I get better as fast as possible.."
-
As the doctor examined his tail with a rather intrigued look, Cyrus laid there with Basil pouting. He wished now that they hadn't called for a doctor, or that they had taken longer. Leaning his head against his hand that was propped up by his elbow, the wolf snorted at her, looking away. "Tch.. I'm sure it's fine, and she's just doing it to get money when it's perfectly fine--"
"You wrapped it fine, yes, but this won't last once this young starts getting active. You also wrapped it so tight you're adding unnecessary pain. Don't question me, pup," she stood, smiling at Basil. "I am Doctor Felicity. I'll be pleased to help you with your pains and your careless friend." -
"He's not careless. Just a bit of an airhead." Basil teased the wolf a bit before growing serious. "After all, I could've ended up in worse condition if he hadn't come to help me." The lamb made sure Cyrus didn't feel attacked and snuggled up to him, watching the doctor look him over. Though whenever she touched the nub, he flinched, squeezing Cyrus's hand again. He smiled up at her, nodding now and then. "I just want to know if it will heal, if the hair will grow back, and if I need it stitched.. I don't want to be in this kind of pain forever. I like to sit up and lie on my back and other things that involve any contact with my tail."
-
"I was told that you were.. Assaulted, yes? And you had your tail chopped off a while ago? Did you clean the wound?" Her eyes made contact with Cyrus's at the end of her sentence. The wolf snorted, looking away. It was his sign that he hadn't and wasn't going to embarrass himself. Sighing, she rose. "You're lucky that I came here quickly. You could be the reason why it's hurting so bad, wolf man. The wound might be infected." Felicity took her kit out, placing it on the bed. "Luckily, I can help with that easily." She paused, looking at the lamb as he squeezed the wolf's hand. She found the interaction to be rather odd. "..It will heal, certainly. The hair should grow, yes, and I can stitch it to speed up the healing. Your tail itself will not be able to grow back, however, I'm afraid."
-
Basil gave her a look that said he wasn't an idiot. "I'm not a lizard, of course I know it isn't going to grow back." He couldn't control sounding rather snippy with her, but he was annoyed that she would assume he didn't know something like that already. The lamb didn't mind picking at Cyrus every now and then, but she was targeting the wolf for no reason. Sure, Cyrus wasn't perfect and maybe Basil did have a slight infection from not cleaning up right away. But he doubted it would happen that fast. Still, he let get what she needed to keep him healthy. "I never thought I'd hear a doctor use 'chopped' so casually when talking about body parts.." He rested his eyes, trying not to look in case there were any needles involved as well.
-
Felicity looked up, slightly shocked, but smiled and shook her head. "I apologize. I didn't mean to be so rude. Of course you would know." She instantly went back to being serious, pulling out an antibacterial cloth. Reaching out, she pulled off the lousily wrapped bandage on his tail and examined the damage. After a minute, she gently took what was left of Basil's tail in his hand and started to wipe it clean. Her actions were gentle, just to make sure she didn't start up bleeding again or hurt the lamb too much.
Cyrus laid there, holding the lamb with an upset look. He didn't like watching this woman touch him, even if she was helping him make his pains go away. In fact, he was jealous that she knew how to help him and he didn't. -
Basil relaxed against Cyrus, flinching once more when his tail was touched. Though he knew he needed to be clean and healthy before being stitched up, he couldn't hold back the pained sounds that escaped his throat. He could even feel himself shaking a bit. The lamb just wanted the pain to end, for the doctor to patch him up properly and let him heal. He could also tell that Cyrus was upset by her presence in general, seeing as she put him down often during the examination. Basil would cheer him up once everything was settled and take care of.
-
Felicity didn't seem to notice either of the two as she worked. It was easy to clean the wound. It luckily wasn't infected, which made her job easier. She tried to ignore the pained noises coming from the lamb, but hoped that it wasn't hurting him too much. "Alright, now I'm going to stitch it up," she warned him so he wouldn't be surprised by the needle.
Cyrus nuzzled his little lamb, wanting her to hurry up. He thought that all she needed to do was give him medication and be on her way. She was too close now, and he was in pain because of her touch. He growled at her once, as if daring her to keep hurting him. Basil was his man.
