Nevaeh, despite her growing trust for Aniel, was tense. She knew good and well that all the wolves viewed her as an outsider, one who shouldn't have been there. Inhaling, she limped along, following Aniel as a painfully slow pace. Suddenly, her appetite left her completely. Perhaps eating just yet wasn't a good idea. She gave Aniel a smile, and spoke loudly so that he could hear her. "I'm gonna go lay back down. Not very hungry after all.. I'll eat later," She promised, turning around to head back.
(Aniel can find her and just scream really loudly tbh) -
"Ah..O-Okay. I'll bring you some or they'll eat it all!" He yelled back as he hurried to get himself something to eat, quickly joining with some the other pups.
A different form of hunger gleamed in the scarred wolf's eyes as he watched the injured woman go back to the medical shelter. To him, she was nothing more than wounded prey, easily left behind by the herd, and moved in once he was sure she was alone. A smirk came over his face once he was close enough to her. "You look awful for a human living in that big kingdom. My, was the fall really that bad?"
(Then in comes Rhonen, willing to take whatever beatings the other had to dish out) -
She froze at the voice, turning slowly. At first, she didn't recognize him. But then, she did, and a little bit of fear bubbled into her stomach. She had no weapons, and no friends here to protect her. "..I don't live in the kingdom, but on the outskirts. Near the Mountress Forest," She explained, naming a place she had only ever visited as a child. In truth, she lived near the river, far away from the Mountress grounds. But, why would she tell this man, who certainly thirsted for her blood?
"Look, I don't want to be any trouble. Good day." She turned, knowing it was unwise to show him her back, but hoped it would be enough.
(Yessss) -
He knew she was alone, defenseless, and even scared. He could smell that fear a mile away, and he didn't believe a word that came from her mouth. "That's quite the ways away from here. And you came all this way to claim a sack of worthless coin for slaughtering us? I don't believe that for second." The moment her back was turned, the male was upon her, holding her in place and gripping her hair to pull it out of the way. "You really messed up my shoulder. Rayne said I'd be scarred because of the silver. Now, if you really didn't want trouble, you would've just let us leave with the chief's kid. But no. You tried to attack while our backs were turned."
(brb dinner) -
"It was more than a sack of coin. It would have kept me and my girls in comfort for the next five years," She muttered. Nevaeh shared a two-story cabin with four other girls- Lynna, a prostitute whom was her closest and most trusted friend, Molly and Ella, young sisters who Nevaeh was sure had ran away from some horrid life, and Cora, barely a woman, and pregnant with a b------ child. More times than not, they depended on Nevaeh and Lynna to keep them afloat, and this job would have done more than that..
"I seriously don't plan to harm you any longer. Ask Rayne! I told her that I plan to tell the king that you no longer inhabit this area! I'm risking my head in lying to him, you know. It should be more than enough for you. Let me go, please," Nevaeh couldn't struggle, not with her ankle. -
"Doesn't matter. Life, even peaceful life, means nothing to you hunters." The older scoffed and pulled at her hair, staring at the back of her neck. He knew already that she'd been strongly opposed to even being near any of them, but how would she cope with being one of them? "I'll give you a nice scar, like you did to me. The least I could do to pay you back for the arrow in my shoulder." He grinned and bit down hard enough to break skin in the back of Nevaeh's neck.
Although he was startled by sudden yelling from behind him. "Don't touch her, she doesn't belong to you!" Aniel cried, glaring harshly at the adult wolf, clutching some food in his hands.
"Shut your maw hole, runt!" He growled at the pup still holding Nevaeh in place. -
"I don't want to-" Nevaeh gasped at the pain in the back of her neck. It was intense, and unlike when she messed up her ankle, there was no adrenaline protecting her from it. A little scream left her lips, but she regained herself when she heard Aniel's voice. Thinking clearly once again, she brought her elbow back. With that force, it would have broken the ribs of a normal man, but wasn't going to do much to the wolf. She didn't care, though. "Don't speak to him like that!"
What had happened still hadn't really registered in her head. She knew she had been bitten, but did that mean she would be turned for certain?
(Nevaeh will adopt Aniel probably) -
"You b----..." The other shoved her, trying to throw her off balance. He glared down at her, ignoring the pups protests and even pushing him back when he got too close. "I was going to just leave you with that, but now I'll have to really put the hurt on you. Little girl, I'm going to make you wish you were dead.." An arm went up, claws ready, and came crashing down with great speed.
But their target wasn't harmed, not even in the slightest, only the shield of another male's back bore the marks of the enraged wolf's claws. Rhonen cringed a bit, gritting his teeth at the new wounds. "That really hurt, Mikael.. Good thing I kept you from hitting such a soft creature. But you ruined my favorite shirt. I'm starting to run out." The chief's son slowly stood, his injured leg shaking a bit, and looked back at the other with a smile. "You know this isn't our way of life." -
Nevaeh did loose her balance, and went down, rolling out of the way as soon as the man from last night was there, shielding her. The bite was throbbing badly now, but she ignored it, reaching for Aniel. She wanted to comfort the little angel, as he had tried to protect her- Her, a hunter than had come to kill everyone he loved, and him only a child. How could someone love so innocently like that? Nevaeh knew she was getting attached, but tried to pat that fact no mind.
She stopped in her moving for him, placing a hand on the back of her neck. It was stinging now, and she knew that yes, that was all it took. A virus was spreading through her blood stream at that very moment, and..
And she was going to be one of them. One of the very things she loathed and hated. "He bit me.. Oh, God, no." -
Aniel saw her reach out and hurried over to her, hugging around her and nuzzling under her chin. Fresh tears began to run down his cheeks, shaking from the fear of losing his new friend, despite how much older she was.
"..You're not a fighter, Rhonen. This is none of your concern." The one who'd bit the hunter, Mikael, glared at his fellow, making an attempt to intimidate the younger. But to his misfortune, Rhonen remained unwavered.
"No, I'm not. I hate conflict, so what? You've lost your way, Mikael. I believe you need a vacation that's long overdue. Beat me around all you want, I won't let you soil the name of this clan with your violence further." Rhonen stared seriously at Mikael until he left, muttering under his breath. He turned to look at Nevaeh, letting himself sit to relax his own injuries. "Let me see." -
Nevaeh, noticing Aniel's tears, hugged him close as her own started rolling down her cheeks. She shook her head at Rhonen, flinching away from any movement he made towards her. Nevaeh sobbed, and held the little boy close, unsure of how turning even happened. She knew of the nature of the rebirth with other creatures- Vampires, for instance, even though they were long extinct. A sire vampire drained a body, and then let said body be filled with their own blood. Eventually, the virus started making changes.. But vampires were unlike werewolves in many ways, and the only thing Nevaeh knew of their rebirth was that it was extremely painful.
-
The pup cried in her chest, moving his hands to feel the bite mark. His fingers gripped her shirt lightly as he looked up at her. "I'm sorry...I was too slow..I should've known better. I could smell him, then I could smell when you got scared. If I'd just been here a moment sooner..."
Rhonen gave the child a sympathetic look, but silently removed his torn, bloodied shirt and tossed it aside. He let out a groan of pain as he lied on his stomach, muttering his own apology. "Aniel, please. We need your help."
The pup nodded and reluctantly pulled away from Nevaeh to get supplies to clean their wounds. -
The girl was silent now, knowing that anything, anything at all was better than becoming one of them. She had just seen their blood thirsty nature first hand. Perhaps they weren't all like that, but certainly, some of them where.
Nevaeh, seeing a knife only a little distance away, went for it. It was one of hers. A normal one, not coated in silver, but if she acted quickly, it might work. -
Rhonen saw what she was reaching for and grabbed her good ankle, pulling her back. He didn't mean to harm her, he didn't want to hurt her, and he didn't want her to harm anyone or herself. "You know, I can show you a world that you've never known or understood. No one wants to become this, but we were born like this. We know how to make our lives work, and we can teach you to live, too. Let me, let us, help you."
Aniel rushed over with water and some salve to stop the blood. The pup went to Nevaeh first, getting a good look at the back of her neck and beginning to wash the bite, quickly rubbing salve onto the area. -
(Do you have Netflix?)
Nevaeh started to protest, but stopped when Aniel entered, not wanting to upset him. She knew, though, that she would still rather die than become like them, like her brother. She didn't want to be of the kind that struck fear into so many of her loved ones hearts. The hunter locked eyes with Rhonen, and sighed, knowing that she might as well deceive him until she was alone to do as she wanted.
"..What now, then? Thank you, Aniel."
