Rhonen waited, letting her take her time with her clothing. Typical humans. Always so nervous about being exposing their natural bodies. If there was one thing werewolves understood, it was to not feel shame when they were without clothing. The only ones that really needed clothing were pups, so they stayed warm. He couldn't help glimpsing at her then looked at her face, the same warm smile on his lips as reached up to cup her cheek. And boy was her skin on fire. "You shouldn't be so embarrassed. But if you still are, here. You can wear this." He held his oversized shirt out to her, letting her decide if she wanted to wear it.
-
Nevaeh kept her eyes on his feet when he touched her, flinching and going ridged. If she'd had a weapon, if would have found it's way into his eye. Instead, she took the shirt, and slid it on. Pulling it down, it just barely covered her enough that she relaxed, closing her eyes again, holding out a hand to be helped up. It was too hot, as she really did feel as if there was a fire going under her skin. The back of her neck was still throbbing, but her ankle on the other hand, felt much better.
"Thank you. For the shirt. It's just that I.. I don't have fond memories of being undressed near men," She explained, leaving out the details.
(I'm gonna nap for an hour or two. See you.) -
Rhonen took her hand, helping pull her up. He frown at the reason for her uneasiness, the cause having to do with men, human men, and he didn't want her to have that impression on them, himself included. "I won't hurt you. I would never harm a woman. And I can only guess what happened to you. I'm sorry." The to-be Alpha guided her to the water, helping her and supporting her weight along the way. He couldn't stop himself from becoming upset by the possibility of what happened to Nevaeh. Humans are creatures that have been corrupt by the seven sins. Lust being one of the most disgusting of them all. And yes, werewolves held their pride, but not the way humans tried to.
(I'll be floating around then~) -
"You and Aniel are.. Are the first of your kind that I've met that doesn't wish to hurt me." Because it hadn't been men- It had been monsters that had been there to get revenge for her brother, her brother whom she had killed out of necessity. She sighed, pushing it aside, only to add one more comment on the matter. "That's also why I'm twenty three and not married yet. Virtue seems to be so important these days, even if your loss of it was something you couldn't help."
-
"I could see why virtue matters. Lovers like to be the only ones for each other, but things happen that are out of our control. Your brother, for instance. He couldn't control the power he had, and no one helped him. Marriage... That concept doesn't exist here. When two souls become one, everyone knows, and no one breaks it apart." Rhonen stopped walking when the water touched his belly, taking in the peace around them again. He kept a hand between Nevaeh's shoulder blades and the other holding hers, giving her fingers a light squeeze. "It may not be in the lap of luxury, but the world we live in is so much more beautiful than human society.."
-
"It just seems.. You know, unfair," She sighed, relaxing a bit at the water. "Unfair that I can't marry, unfair that I have to stay here, and unfair that my brother did what he did.." Nevaeh inhaled, and shook a little, leaning against Rhonen. "Thank you, though.. So, when your married.. Are the woman required to birth children like they are in human society?" She had always wanted children, at least three, but she knew that it would never happen, not with everyone knowing the matter of her virtue.
-
"I know it's unfair. It's unfair that we have to live this way at all. If things had been fine between my kind and humans, you would've never been out here. Your brother may have still been alive and human himself. But life's not that easy. We have to fight to be happy." He stood taller for her, letting her find comfort in him, and hesitantly wrapped an arm around her shoulders. The wolf let out a soft sigh and shook his head. "Pups aren't necessary. But most mates have at least one. To be honest, we mate sparingly. Meaning we don't overpopulate. Which is why the number of humans compared to us is much greater."
-
"..I've always wanted children," She admitted, closing her eyes as she listened to his heart beat. Perhaps they weren't all that different. "At least three, but I'd like more.. What about you? Do you have a mate? Do you want children?" Nevaeh was curious now, wanting to know more about this man, who had so willingly defended her. She knew that she was letting her guard down, but perhaps it didn't matter here and now. Perhaps Nevaeh would be okay with living like this.
(Can't werewolves tell by the scent of someone that they're their soulmate?) -
Rhonen looked down at her and smiled, shifting to rest his chin on her head. "No, I haven't found my mate yet, and I wouldn't mind pups, it'd be all up to her. I would love and care for them, of course, but if we have them, and how many, that would be up to her. I would give her all the pups she wants." He could feel it more now than ever. As much of an annoyance she could be, the young wolf knew Nevaeh was the one. He'd been willing to give up on her, seeing as she was a human and a hunter, but once she was bitten, he could no longer deny the emptiness he felt when she wasn't near.
(There's a few things you could say about it. Twilight has that whole 'imprint' thing. Werewolves could just smell who's their mate. But I like the idea of a sixth sense, where they FEEL it. Like they've been with their soulmate forever.) -
"..What happens when you do find her?" She wanted to know more about this man, everything she could possibly find out, but the fact that they were so close together was starting to get to her. Nevaeh had been testing her weight on her ankle this whole time, and had found that it was most certainly healing. "Um, do you.. How do you know that it's them, anyways?" She wanted to know, mostly because if she was going to go through this whole thing, she'd have to know. Nevaeh wondered if not having her virtue would be such a big deal in their society.
(Oooh, okay. owo) -
"We'll become one. Or a pair, however you want to put it. And I'll know her because I can feel her. It'll be like I've known her my whole life even if I've just met her, and when she's not around, I'll feel empty and lost until we're with each other. The hard part is knowing if both parties feel the same, as it's a bit awkward to walk up and say 'hey, you're my soulmate' to someone who doesn't really know you." Rhonen chuckled lightly and watched her adjust her weight. She must've been seeing how her ankle was. "Another day or so and your ankle should be fine."
-
"So, you don't feel that way about anyone yet? When do werewolves normally find mates?" She nodded at his assumption about her ankle. "It already feels better. Can we move deeper into the water?" She was flushed with heat still, and shaking a bit on top of that, feeling as if she had an infection, almost. How nice it must be for werewolves to just.. Know when they'd found their mates. "..Do soulmates date or anything, or do they just jump into the whole being mates thing? Has anyone ever been wrong about the feeling?"
-
"I never said I didn't have the feeling, I'm just waiting for her to feel the same. And there isn't really an age for it, just depends on when they meet. Sometimes even young pups can feel it, and they'll 'date', puppy love." He nodded lightly and walked her further into the water until she told him when to stop. "Older wolves just come together, share a little passion to solidify their love. The feeling hasn't been wrong from what I know, but I know some wolves don't feel it because they never meet their mates. Or when their soulmate is lost, they'll never find them unless they return in another form. Which doesn't happen often."
-
"..Her? Ooo. Who is it?" She poked his cheek, but didn't tell him to stop until they were up to their collarbones in water. When he finished explaining, she nodded, and then took in a breath. "Okay, hang on real quick, I want to go under the water," Nevaeh explained, detaching from him to turn her back. She sunk down, and after a couple seconds of cool, sweet bliss, stood back up, leaning her back on his chest as she pushed her hair away from her eyes. She felt hot enough that the water droplets on her face could have very well been turning to vapor.
"So.. When do I get to try.. You know, becoming a wolf?" -
"That's for me to know, nosey." Rhonen grinned at the poke to his cheek and lightly brushed her hand off, letting her do as she pleased. Nothing made him happier than seeing the woman he believed to be his soulmate finally at ease. Once she emerged from the water, leaning against him again, the wolf helped brush back hair and water from her face, looking down at her with a pleasant smile. "It'll be awhile before we teach you to do that. I'll actually have to consult my father and the elders to see when would be the best time for that. For now, we'll focus on trying to leep you cooled off."
