"We need to keep you cooled off for the first days. Your body is going to feel like it's on fire as it adjusts to the changes. We'll go to the lake a soak then bring some water back in case you need it in the night. We'll have to teach you how to transform properly and when to. Or you'll become something that's not human or werewolf. Just..a beast. We'll take care of you." Rhonen promised her, slowly releasing her ankle from his grip.
Aniel smiled and leaned over to kiss the wound before moving over to help the other male. "Rho... Rayne's gonna be mad that you aren't resting like she said."
"Your yelling woke me, pipsqueak." He teased, smiling at the pup. Aniel stuck his tongue out and smiled back while he treated the older. -
"..But it's almost Winter. Surely, the water will be much too cold," She worried, biting her lip. If she was to pretty much stay in the lake all day, she might never get a chance to be alone. Nevaeh sighed. Later on, then, she'd have to see to it.
"How long will the.. Uh, fire part last?" She hoped it wasn't long. Nevaeh was good with pain, but the bite itself had hurt so much, it might be more than her body could register. -
"You'll really embrace the cold when you're going through this. And however long it takes depends. I told you, we're here to help you. You'll also probably notice your wounds will heal faster as the full moon nears. But not like ours do, not right away anyway." Once he was taken care of, Rhonen stood, wobbling a bit, and helped Nevaeh get up, supporting her weight. Aniel rushed to her side, doing whatever he could to help. The older male knew there was no way the hunter was this calm about everything, and had even watched her go for that knife. That plain knife that would've just caused her more pain.
-
"Is there.. Is there any possible way to stop the change? Any way to reverse it?" Nevaeh knew the answer, but she asked anyways. Her head was starting to throb, and she leaned heavily on Rhonen, suddenly feeling feverish. It had begun, then. "I-I.. I need to get my corset off," She explained, trying to move away. "If you'll leave me alone for a few moments?" In truth, the wire that was in the lining of her corset was made of silver. It was like metal, hard, and so if she could get it into an organ.. It would be painful, but better than this.
-
"No way that I know of, no. Please don't try anything." Rhonen stared down at her seriously and leaned in to whisper in her ear, "You'll break his heart." It was clear how fond of Nevaeh Aniel had become, and knowing the boy's past as well as any other, Rhonen didn't want him to suffer further. He pulled away, not entirely sure what the garment mentioned was, but offerred to help anyways. "Let me help you. You humans..always wear so much clothing."
The pup looked highly confused at the mention of a corset, underwear being practically nonexistent in their world. "What's a 'corset'?" -
"..Um. It's like underwear, but on your chest and.. Only for girls. And I don't need help undressing." Nevaeh chose to ignore the comment about hurting Aniel. She knew, but how could she go through being one of them? She just shook her head at him, frowning, refusing to promise anything of the sort. Nevaeh would use a plain knufe to cut the wire out, and then to cut her skin so that she could get the wire in. It would be painful, but she would be okay.
-
"..Underwear?" Aniel was still confused on what she was talking about. He looked up at her big eyes, curious to know what a corset and underwear were. "I wanna see. I wanna see what they look like."
"We should go bathe then. That way we can wash up, keep you cooled off, and you can show Aniel what you're talking about. And don't worry about moving your ankle, I can carry you." Rhonen assured, trying to keep Nevaeh from going off on her own until she accepted herself. -
"..I can't show you. That would be.. Inappropriate." Nevaeh sighed and shook her head, staring at Rhonen. "How about.. You take Aniel and give me five minutes before you come back. I can take my corset off and put my leather hunting vest on. Please, I don't want boys watching me," She insisted, hoping it would be enough. Clearly, neither of them even knew what a corset was.
-
"Nothing I haven't seen before." Rhonen told her with a straight face. "A lot of don't really care what others see. Mates always find each other based on deep emotional connections, unlike you humans who stare at each other like cuts of fresh meat. And once you've found your mate, you're connected even in the afterlife."
Aniel hummed at the thought of having a mate when he was older, much older. "Does everyone find someone?"
"If they look hard enough. Sometimes you have to go beyond your home to find your soulmate." The older smiled at the innocent and curious pup."There have been humans among us before, long before I was born. Long before we were feared.." -
"I don't care what you have and haven't seen, you're not seeing me. We're not married, or anywhere close to it, so please, let me undress in privacy." She couldn't help but smile, just a little, at Aniel's innocence, but her body was really starting to tingle with heat, and Nevaeh was getting impatient. The longer she waited, the harder it was going to be to go through with what she had to do. She wasn't upset about it, it was just a fact of what was going to happen now.
-
"Well, you should've thought of your privacy before you went for a knife. I'm not leaving you alone. I'll send my own mother or Rayne with you if I have to." He was showing no signs of giving up until he knew this woman was safe. Safe for..Aniel. Yes, Aniel. The only reason he wanted to keep her alive was for that pup. Or so he told himself.
"A knife..? Well, a plain old knife won't do anything but cause you pain now. It can't kill you, especially since the new moon ended." The young boy sucked his lips, his face forming into one of hard thinking. -
"It's not up to you," She hissed, shoving away from him, leaning heavily on the wall. Nevaeh felt her hatred bubbling up inside of her, and before she could stop it, she spoke. "I don't want to be a killer! I don't want to have fleas, and sleep on the floor, and live like an animal! I don't want to be a hell-born beast.. I don't want to be like you! I hate werewolves. Ungodly, lying, murderous things.. You're all retched! I refuse to become one of you. I don't care. I would rather die than become such a horrid creature!"
-
Rhonen stared at her for a long time, his eyes filled with pity for the ignorance that she'd been fed her whole life. "If that's what you think of us, then you shouldn't have come here at all. Yes, some of us are monsters that lose their way, but not all of us. And if you humans, you true monsters, didn't treat us the way you do, we wouldn't have to live like animals." He grit his teeth, a flash of envy coming over his face. "You've spent the majority of your life living without feeling like someone was always trying to kill you. Then, like the scared pathetic human you are, you slaughter what you don't understand. If you want to die so badly, then leave. The hunters will do the job for you." The wolf turned and left as quickly as he could manage. Aniel simply stood there with his head down, too choked up to say anything.
-
"I came here because my king ordered me to! I can't go anywhere! I can't walk, you-you.. Oh, Aniel, I didn't mean that about you! You're a sweet little boy.. Oh, look, just hand me that knife and you can go. I'm sorry, Aniel, really," She muttered, feeling a bit bad. In truth, if she hadn't been bitten, she really would have left the pack alone, gone back with a false story.. But things hadn't worked out that way. And if she went back now, like Rhonen had suggested, they would make her tell them exactly where the pack was.
-
"You hate werewolves.. That's what you said. That's what I am. And I'm not the one you should say sorry to." He mumbled a bit near the end, taking careful steps away from her. His head still low and fingers gripping his clothing, Aniel sniffed back any tears that threatened to fall. "You're a liar... If you'd never come here with a hurt ankle, never talked to me, you'd have killed me like the rest.. Rho would've never liked you and tried to save you. You don't even think about the fact that he came to help you when he could've stayed where he was! He's hurt too, ya know!" He cried, reaching up to wipe his face.
