Nevaeh stared to say something, but stopped when he licked off the juice- Oh, she had to hide the little shiver it elicited from her, glancing down at Aniel. She leaned closer to Rhonen, dropping her voice to a whisper. "You can't be doing that! Not around people. Not around our son," She whined, but pressed a kiss to his cheek, "But feel free to do that in private," She assured him, before finishing her plum, picking up another. She knew how much hiking would take out of her, and she didn't want to be too weak.
-
The young wolf grinned up at her, chuckling lightly. "No one will care, Nev. Haven't you learned by now that there is little privacy in the forest?" He rose an eyebrow at her teasingly, but smiled at the kiss and nuzzled her nose. "Buuut for you, I'll keep that stuff private. For Aniel and the other pups' sakes!" Rhonen watched her eat and grab food that he assumed was for the trip. "Be sure to eat some meat while you're away. Fish, cow, turkey, something. Wolves need protein to maintain their strength."
-
"I want privacy. I don't care if you do or not, but I want it." She smiled at him, nodding as she started to put the food in a bag. "I'll catch a rabbit or something for lunch. And we should be in the town after that, if we make the time I want to, so I can buy some dinner for me and him. We'll.. Just not be able to eat around people. I don't think he knows how to use a fork or knife- ..In fact, do you?" Despite her opinions being changed, Nevaeh hadn't been able to shake what had been pounded into her head her whole life. Werewolves were barbaric, backwards people, who knew nothing of technology or normal, proper life and values, such as not eating food with your hands.
-
"You'll have it." He promised while he watched her. He smiled at the idea of rabbit for lunch. "I might catch some of those later today myself. Their texture is weird, but still good. And have you seen us use silverware? I mean, some of us like to impale our food on a stick but have you really seen anyone eat like a pig? Some pups do, but they can be taught to eat slowly with closed mouths. Aniel already knows that." He gestured towards the boy that was quietly eating fruit.
-
"I better," She mumbled, shaking her head. "That's not what I meant. People will expect him to know how to hold a fork, and I.. I don't want people to stare at us. The less recognizable we are, the better." She finished her food, and pressed a kiss to his lips, wrapping her arms around his shoulders. They were so broad. She wished that she could take him with her. "We'll be back as soon as we can. I love you."
-
"I understand. Feel free to teach him new things about human and 'civil' life. Then you won't have to hide all the time." Rhonen hummed, returning the kiss and holding her around the waist. He rested his head on her shoulder, not wanting her to go, at least not without him. But he understood his responsibilities as the son to the pack's alpha. "I love you, too. I'll be waiting for both of you." He smiled at Aniel, ruffling the boy's hair and making him break his silence with giggling.
-
"Of course I will. He'll come back, like a true well-mannered little boy," She teased, giving him one last kiss before pulling away. They were pretty much all set, and they really needed to be going. "Aniel," She directed, looking down at him, "We're going to be leaving in just a second.. Is there anything you need?" She'd hate to get into the town and him realize he'd left something important behind.
-
"I doubt that will happen, but.." Rhonen teased back and tried to linger on the kiss, but let her go anyway. He gave Aniel one last pat on the head before stepping back to let them leave. The pup looked up at the woman he saw as his new mother and shook his head. "We have lots of food, right? Then I'm ready!"
-
"Is all you ever think about food?" She laughed and mused his hair, and then took his hand. Neaveh waved goodbye to Rhonen one last time and then set out, walking a little quicker than she probably should have. She couldn't help wanting to get to see her friends as quickly as possible considering that they were probably wondering where she was. Later, she would carry Aniel for a bit but for now he would just have to try and keep up the best he could.
-
"Food means surviving!" Aniel reasoned, waving at Rhonen as they left. He stumbled over his feet a bit when Neaveh walked at the quick pace. "Mama, slow down." He whined softly as he tried to keep pace with her by walking twice as fast. The pup didn't understand why she was trying to move so quickly, but he definitely didn't like it and continued to struggle to keep up while not tripping over himself. His heart raced, wondering if she would continue without him if he couldn't keep up. "Don't...Don't leave me.. I don't wanna be left behind again.." Aniel sniffed.
-
When Aniel started whining, they had only just broke the tree line. Neaveh stopped immediately, crouching in front of him. His pleas made her heart twist a little, and she pulled him into a hug. "Hey. I'm not going anywhere, silly. We just gotta move fast.. How about this? You get on my back and I'll carry you until we stop for a break. Man, I wish we had horses.." She sighed, and turned so that the pup could get on her back.
