Aniel made a small noise and snuggled up to his mother, resting his head on her chest for cushion and warmth. It was clear the pup was drifting and trying to sleep already, so Rhonen stood and carefully got into bed with his family, shifting and adjusting so they all fit. "A week? Such a walk could be done within mere hours.. Or are you planning to stay with your friends during that time?" He wouldn't voice it, but the werewolf worried for his family's safety when they took that trip and sighed when he realized he wouldn't be able to travel with them.
-
"..I don't like right outside of the forest. I live practically on the other side of the kingdom. It's more than a few hour's walk, I can assure you that." Nevaeh didn't know where she had miscomminucated where she lived, but she felt a bit bad now that she would be further from Rhonen than he might like. She pressed a kiss to the top of Aniel's head, sighing. "We really should sleep, though, if we don't want to waste any time tomorrow.."
-
"O-Oh.. I see. Just..be careful. I don't want either of you to get hurt, or worse." Rhonen lightly bit his lip, his worries rising at the thought of his family being so far away, and reached to take one of her hands in his own. He rested his chin on his mate's shoulder, nodding lightly and closing his eyes. "All right. Rest up, and let me know when you leave tomorrow, okay?"
-
"We wont. I'll take care of him. I will," Nevaeh promises, and closed her eyes, feeling herself drift off after only a bit of time had passed. When she woke, the sun was just barely rising, sending thin streams of light into the little place that was becoming her home. She glanced down at Aniel, running her fingers through his hair. If something did happen to them on the trip, she would make sure he got out of it alive.
-
Rhonen snoozed peacefully, still loosely holding Nevaeh's hand, and nuzzled closer to his family when he felt even the smallest movement.
Aniel let out a soft whine and stretched when his hair was stroked, peeking up at his adoptive mother. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, smiling sweetly and mumbling, "Morning..." -
"Morning, my love," Nevaeh kisses his forehead, watching his stretch. "Wake up your father, and we'll go get something to eat. And then we need to head out, so.. You need to change clothes," She suggested, though she knew that, Aniel being the little wolf-boy that he was, he would rather stay dirty.
-
"Okay.." The boy yawned again and shifted to climb all over Rhonen, lightly patting his cheeks to wake him. "Papa.. Time to get up. Come on. Mama says get up, so we can go eat." It was true Aniel didn't want to get changed, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her that he couldn't change as he didn't really have anything else to wear.
The older wolf wrinkled nose at the excessive patting to his face and reached over to lift the boy, smiling at how easy it was to hold him in the air. "Okay, okay. Enough of that, little wolf. I'm up now." -
Nevaeh smiled at the patting, moving to carefully get up. When Rhonen finally stirred, she lifted Aniel out of his arms, placing the small wolf pup on her hip. "We're going to head out after we leave.. You're not too worried about it, are you, Rho? I don't have to take Aniel," She promised him, smiling gently. She knew he didn't like them being away from him, knew he'd rather keep them close. But she really needed to check on her family, make sure that everyone was faring well.
-
Rhonen smiled at the two and sat up, stretching his arms and climbing out of bed. He sighed and rested his head on her free shoulder. "No, no it's fine. I'll be out hunting and preparing for my tests while you're away. If Aniel wants to go, I trust you'll take care of him. You're stronger than you look." He teased, placing a kiss to the side of her throat. He knew he would worry about them, but they would likely return if anything seemed wrong or out of place.
-
"Alright," She nodded, moving to get out of his way so that he could lead them outside. As soon as they ate, they needed to be on their way if they wanted to make it out of the woods by nightfall. Nevaeh would be able to manage that easily on her own, but she couldn't go as fast if she had Aniel with her. "I might rent a horse.. It would cut the trip in half, and it's not like I don't have the money." Her bag, along with a good amount of cash, was back at the cabin.
-
"Do as you need to." Rhonen smiled at her and gestured for her and the pup to follow him to get breakfast. Even if his mate wasn't hungry, he knew Aniel would need something before they left. The boy eagerly followed, taking his adoptive mother's hand and giving it a squeeze. He couldn't wait to go out and see more of the world around him.
-
"Mhm. Oh.. I should probably take something for Aniel to snack on, hm?" She ruffled the little pup's hair with her few hand, and then lifted him onto her hip. It was a bit painful with her hurt leg, but manageable. "Have you ever seen a horse, Aniel? I used to have one when I was very little.. I haven't rode in a while. But it's like riding a bike. You never forget.. But, then, you probably don't know what a bike is either, hm?" She sighed, kissing his cheek.
-
"..Horse? I've heard of it. I hear it tastes good too, but kind of tough to chew at some parts." Aniel huffed, holding on to Nevaeh securely and furrowing his brows at the older male when he heard a snicker. Rhonen grinned at the boy, teasing him a bit. "Don't eat this horse. It's not ours to eat and it's supposed to take you back and forth in less time."
-
"..That's horrible," Nevaeh puckered her lips and shook her head. "That's not right. You don't seriously eat horses, do you, Rho? That's horrible." She sat Aniel down when they got to the food, grabbing a plum for herself. She bit into it, absorbed in thought, not noticing the juice that trickled down her chin, and onto her chest. She knew that they ate whatever they could, but the thought of eating a horse made her feel sick. Her mind traveled to other things. Had they ever had bacon? She'd have to bring back one of the piglets and feed it up until it was big enough to be killed.
-
"Back when they were wild. We don't eat domesticated ones. Humans tend to ruin food through their weird breeding methods." Rhonen grinned as his mate ate, eyeing the juices that escaped her plum. Before eating something himself, he leaned over to lick the trail of juice. "Mm. My love is juicy~" He teased before biting into his fruit, being careful of the plum pit. Aniel nibbled on his own plum, taking it in small bites.
