They watched, keeping their distance until they were sure she wasn't a threat. Each wolves twitched and they couldn't help cringing at the sound of the Hunter's ankle breaking beneath her weight. It was quite the descent, and it was clear she'd hit her fragile human body on branches along the way. Or else she'd have broken more than her ankle. The chief let out a sigh and slowly made his way towards her. "How about you stop treating us like monsters without brains and allow us to help you with that?"
-
"How about you-" She paused, drawing in a breath, holding the knife up shakily, "How about you stay. Away. From. Me." Nevaeh knew that she wasn't steady enough to hold the knife, but hadn't expected it to fall from her hands completely. She moved to pick it up, but couldn't, as she blacked out completely. It was only for a few seconds, but her body wasn't functioning right because of the pain, and she found herself defenseless. It was like she was that little, helpless five year old girl again.
But, she was smarter. This wasn't the place to fight, not here, not now. And so, she held her hands up. "Don't touch me. Please." -
"You still don't get it. You humans never understand. That's why those of us that live among you remain secret." Once she was on the ground, entirely defenseless, the older wolf moved in, kicking the knife away and crouching beside her. There was a look in his eyes that many would mistake for arrogance, as if he were looking down on the injured Hunter before him. But those that really focused on that gaze, they would see pity among all else. Despite her pleas and arguing, he carefully lifted her into his grasp, being careful of her injuries. "We've only had to deal with broken bones a few times. We usually are more cautious until the period of the New Moon ends."
-
"Put me down," Nevaeh ordered, struggling a bit, but quickly realizing that it was pointless. She closed her eyes, inhaling. "Just.. Take me to my cabin. I can set it and make a crutch to walk home with." The position she was in wasn't very comfortable, as she had scooted as far away from the werewolf as possible, avoiding as much contact as she could. Nevaeh turned her face away from the beast, trying to imagine that it was a human that was carrying her.
(wait does the alpha have her or??) -
(Cheif/Alpha yes)
The older rolled his eyes at her and made his way away from the cabin, heading back towards their nest. "Now there is a risk I'm not willing to take. If you were to return to your kingdom, you would only get reinforcements. Not happening." He let her struggle as much as she pleased, knowing well that it wouldn't make a difference. The group also found their fellow who'd been struck with the arrow, the smaller werewolf, now in his own human form, growled at the girl but was quickly silenced with a glare by one of the others. -
(Okay)
"..So you plan to keep me prisoner my whole life? Let me down. I'd rather die here than have to stay near your.. Your kind." She refrained from calling them 'beasts' or 'creatures' while one was holding her, at least. She knew that if they took her to the nest, she'd never be allowed to leave. For Nevaeh, that was a fate much worse than death. When the smaller boy growled at her, she growled right back, snapping her jaws in a mocking way. -
(I'm all bath tub clean)
"Not your whole life, no. We wouldn't do that unless you were bitten. You see, there's a difference between a werewolf born and a werewolf turned. Born werewolves know how to control themselves because they've had their whole lives to train." He explained as he trekked through the dark, swiftly moving through brush and branch to reach their nesting grounds. There was a clearing surrounded by a ring of roughly built shelters, some bigger than others. He lowered his voice as not to disturb the piece. "Face it, girl, you're getting a taste of reality whether you want it or not." -
(Yaaaay)
"Well, you know, as soon as you let me go, the threat of me returning with back up still stands," She huffed, not really surprised that the beast could be so stupid. Her ankle was still hurting, though, badly. Trying to at least be civil for now, Nevaeh sighed. "If you'll just get me the stuff to set it, and something for the pain, then I'll be fine for a bit. And I can set it myself. Sorry, but I'd like to avoid being touched by as many of you as possible." -
"And you treat us like the disgusting ones. You'd really rather die instead of receiving help, just because we can turn into wolves? You humans are disappointing." The chief shook his head as he moved to one of the larger shelters where a woman was sound asleep, a young boy resting in her lap. "Aye, Rayne. Got some broken bones tonight."
The woman slowly opened her eyes, nose twitching at the new smell. She tried to keep the boy, a pup is what they would call him, from waking, but it was too late. Her hand came to her head with a sigh as the eager child bolted up to sniff at Nevaeh. "She smells different."
"Aniel. Go back to sleep." The shewolf, Rayne, told him in a both stern yet loving tone. "It's late, and you need to rest."
"But Chief said something about broken bones. We don't break our bones that much, so I wanna see how you fix it."
"Fine. But please sit and remain quiet while I work." -
Nevaeh actually flinched when the child sniffed at her, scoffing once he backed away. He reminded her of a dog, almost. Still trying to be polite, she shook her head. "No. Don't touch me, I can set it myself. Just get me the stuff, ma'am." It almost burnt to address the she-beast as anything other than what she really was, but clearly, there was no point in reasoning with them. Hopefully they would spare her any more distress, though. She had barely been able to stand being carried by the wolf.
-
"Or you can be silent and let me do my job." The healer retorted, noticing the look the Hunter had given the pup. Aniel didn't seem to notice, and if he had, it didn't keep the smile off his face. She truthfully wanted to tell the other woman that she reeked, but decided against it to avoid unnecessary conflict. "Set her down."
"Rayne will take care of you. Don't worry!" Aniel chirped then was politely hushed.
The Alpha male set Nevaeh on what appeared to be some form of bedding then headed for the exit, leaving with somewhat of a warning. "She's a feisty one. Watch yourselves."
Once she was sure he was out of earshot, the shewolf smirked. "No one's ever been feistier than his son. I'm sure I can handle myself." -
Despite herself, Nevaeh gave the young boy a small smile, always having a soft spot for children. They hadn't poisoned him yet, she figured, and decided that, if she talked to him while the lady 'treated' her, she might be able to get through it. "What's your name, little boy?" She asked, letting the smile touch her face again. Perhaps they all started out innocent like this, and didn't become vicious killers until they were bigger. "You look a lot like my youngest nephew did. Crazy hair and all."
-
"Aniel!" The gave a cheeky grin, showing that he'd lost one of his farther back baby teeth. "My momma used to call me her angel, which is where my name comes from." The pup seemed proud of his name, like many among their pack. "What's yours? Where does your name come from?"
Rayne wasn't as annoyed as she would've been on a normal day. Her little apprentice would distract the woman, hold some kind of conversation, while she got things ready to set the injured ankle. -
"Aniel. That's a cute name. My name's Nevaeh. It doesn't really mean anything, I guess. It's Heaven backwards, though. My parents were religious," She explained, watching him carefully. "How old are you, Aniel?" She knew that the way he referred to his mom in past tense probably meant that she was dead. Though he was glad that there was one less werewolf alive, her heart ached a little for Aniel. She didn't know him, but he was so.. Just, so like a human child.
-
"Heaven backwards. That means our mommas thought the same, huh? Aniel is the angel of beauty and the name itself means 'grace of God'. Some of our oldest kin always tell stories of the Gods, all kinds of them." The boy settled himself, lying on his belly and still looking up at her. "I'm..ten years old now. How old are you?" Every detail he shared with Nevaeh, he wanted to know the same about her.
Rayne gave him a scolding look. "Aniel, you don't ever ask a lady her age. That's rude." The shewolf moved around them to check the Hunter's ankle to see how swollen it was.
"Sorry.." The pup mumbled and lowered his head.
