"You're just a child, I couldn't expect you to understand," Nevaeh countered, shaking her head. "I hate them because I know. I watched my brother- My own brother, Aniel- kill his sons! Because he was turned! I don't want to be like that! And yes, I would have killed you, but I-I didn't know you then.. I wasn't going to kill you.. I was truly going to leave! And Rhonen.. Rhonen should have never spoken to me today. Now, can you please hand me that knife and just go?" Nevaeh did't feel like she was breathing while she spoke. Her chest hurt, and it really did feet like she was on fire.
-
"..That's because no one was there to help him control his power. All we want to do is help you, especially Rho because that's what he does, but you think you're always right. Well, you're not. And no I won't give it to you if you're just gonna do something dumb!" Aniel snatched up the knife, taking off in a sort of power walk back to the medical shelter for safe keeping.
-
"He had control. He had enough control to leave every other week to go sleep with some b----!" She yelled after him, but gave up, for now, at least. With a sob, she sunk down against the wall.
Among her worries was the fact that she hadn't written a letter to Lynna or her other house mates in a long while. She knew that her friend would come looking, and she feared that Lynna would get hurt- Or worse. Since it didn't look like Nevaeh would ever be going back home, she knew the woman would have to help provide for the younger three girls. -
Aniel growled something to himself about her brother being a disgrace to their kind and continued walking until he was far enough away to cry some more. His chest hurt more than anything.
Rhonen let out an exasperated sigh as he eased his nude body into the nearby lake, cringing a bit at the sting of the cuts on his back. The full moon couldn't come any faster. Every werewolf knew that was their time to be practically invincible, except for silver through a vital organ. Most hunters learned that by now. Still, the were some of the fastest and most powerful creatures in existence. Yet they lacked in numbers compared to humans. "...They'll be the end of us..and themselves." -
The heat really was unbearable now, and Nevaeh somehow got her crutch, moving to somewhere for private to take off her shirt, and then her corset, putting only her leather vest on. She tied it, though, and it didn't show anything. The cool air didn't do much, and she was still sweating. Miserable, she pulled her knees to her chest, continuing to sob.
Lynna did in fact become worried when a letter hadn't come in a long while. She, after consideration, left the three younger girls with some money and decided to go out after her. -
With each step he sank deeper and deeper into the green-blue until it reached his collarbone, then he took a breath before submerging into the cold water. He didn't freeze, not like humans, and the winter didn't bother him anymore. The cold water, if anything, was relaxing to older wolves. It eased pain and soothed aching muscles, if only for a short while. Emerging once more for oxygen, Rhonen pushed his long hair back and wiped his face, staring at what clouds spotted the skies.
-
Eventually, she stopped crying, and used the crutch to stand. She needed to apologize to Aniel, but first, she needed to take care of this heat issue. Slowly, she wondered into the open, tapping on the first person she saw's shoulder. "Um, excuse me? Can you direct me to the lake? Please and thank you," She added the last bit as an after thought. The person gave her a suspicious look, but gave her instructions, which Nevaeh followed. As she emerged from the tree line into the little clearing that held the lake, she inhaled at the sight of Rhonen, and paused, wondering if she should turn back. But he had most likely already smelt her, so there wasn't much of a point.
-
It was true he'd smelled Nevaeh before she had even broke past the tree line, but he paid her no mind and went back to his bath of relaxation. The wolf simply ran his fingers through his hair, taking deep, concentrated breaths as he stretched his upper body. He didn't know if the hunter was going to get in or not, so decided to invitee her after a long hesitation. "You don't need to stand there like a statue. If you want to get in the water, then do it. I'm solely here to relax and bathe."
-
"I can't.. Can't undress without both legs. And-And I can't get these clothes wet. They're all I have," She explained, staring at him. Even if he was willing to help her undress, she still didn't want to be bare around him.
Swallowing, though, she began to apologize. "And.. Look, Rhonen, I'm sorry about that stuff I said. Perhaps it's not true for all of your kind, but the experiences that I've had say otherwise, and I.. I don't want to become something that I might not be able to control." -
He opened his mouth to offer help but decided against it and turned to look at her, slowly moving towards the shore and stopping once the water was just below his waist. "..Thank you. I know you don't want this, and I' sorry that Mikael even had the idea to bite you, but you don't have to become a monster. It's hard for humans to adjust to our lives, and they go a little made because of it. These monsters you've witnessed are all scared and have lost their way, or they never even found heir way." He crossed his arms, smiling at her warmly. "But I won't let that happen with you. If those are all you have, I suppose you could put on mine. Like I said before, we have no problem revealing ourselves to each other."
-
"I don't really want to risk it," Nevaeh said with a sigh, but quickly realized that it was hopeless, and gave up on the topic. "I don't think your clothes would fit me. I'm kinda.. Well, short," She muttered, shaking her head. "And, anyways, I personally do have a problem revealing myself to others. Oh, it's so hot, though.." She complained, shifting her crutch a bit so that her vest picked up on the bottom, letting a little bit of cool air attack her skin. "..And, anyways, you'd have to hold me up. You know, my ankle.."
-
"If my shirt's too big, it would cover all of you, wouldn't it? And you're not as short as you think you are." Rhonen hummed, starting to move towards the shore again at a faster pace. "I have no problem helping you, nor do I care if you see me. Then again, closing your eyes is your choice. The only reason I'm pushing you to get in the lake is simply because I don't want you to burn." The young wolf pursed his lips, genuinely concerned for Nevaeh's health and safety, and wanted to help her in anyway possible.
-
"I'm pretty short," Compared to boys, she thought. In truth, Nevaeh was one of the tallest girls at in her village, 5'5" without her hunting boots, and 5'6" with them. She stared at Rhonen until his hips started to emerge from the water, letting her eyes grace the just-barely-there v-line, before she snapped her head away, swallowing a breath, taking her pride with it. "If you.. Would please help me undress," She asked, closing her eyes as her face flushed a bright shade of pink, "That would be lovely."
-
He shrugged and went over to grab his shirt before going over to help her. He noticed the color in her cheeks, unsure if she was embarrassed or if the heat was getting to her. Either way, he gave her a sympathetic smile and lifted her up, moving to set her in a patch of grass and helping undo her pants first. Rhonen stopped to see if she'd rather take them off herself. "If I do anything that makes you feel too uncomfortable, just say so and I'll let you get it. Do you want me to actually pull these off, or let you do it?"
-
Nevaeh kept her eyes closed, just kind of shrugging when he spoke. She didn't want to say anything, and just kind of slipped the pants off herself without answering him. Without her corset, she hesitated before moving to undo her vest. For that, though, she had to open her eyes to watch the knots, but she kept them on the ties that held the leather together, refusing to look at anything else. She didn't take it off, though, and just left the vest hanging there, barely covering her.
She closed her eyes again, pushing down the urge to scream. Nevaeh remembered a time of being smaller, younger, and helpless, as the mercy of men who wanted to punish her for the murder of her brother. She remembered her other reason for her hatred towards werewolves and their kind, and she had to shove those memories aside. Telling herself that Rhonen wasn't staring at her, she slid of her underwear, and then took the vest of as well, opening her eyes to fold them and set them aside.
