Seeing her light up a little put Rhyder more at ease, glad to know he could make her grin a little with that. Chuckling again, he nodded. "Yes... which is why no one is allowed to see my baby pictures! Yes, they really can be..." Noticing that they didn't really refer to each other by any name whatsoever, he thought he'd ask. "Is there a name you prefer to be called by, or is Sylvya fine?"
-
Chuckling, she nodded a little "Alright, I won't ask to see them." She thought about that for a minute. Nobody else called her anything different. Nobody called her by her last name, because at least a quarter of the people in the Kramiery group were actual blood Kramierys, and that would get confusing. She did have the nicknames Syl or Sylv set aside for her future husband's use, if he even wanted to use them, but since she was forced into this relationship, she didn't really see Rhyder as being able to get that choice. "Um, Sylvya is good. What would you like to be called?"
-
Chuckling, Rhyder grinned. "Thanks, I appreciate it. Alright, Sylvya it is. Just call me Rhyder." His family had never been one for nicknames, so he had only ever been called Rhyder his whole life by everyone. It was his name, so he was fine with being called it.
-
Sylvya nodded slowly. "Okay... Rhyder" she tried it out. She hadn't said his name out loud before, and it sounded strange coming out of her mouth, at least she thought so. Biting her lip, she searched her mind for something to talk about. "Um..what do you like to do in your free time?" Stupid question, she knew, and inwardly kicked herself for asking it.
-
It felt weird hearing her say his name, but he figured he should get used to it since they were now engaged and living together. Hearing her ask that question made Rhyder grin a little, since he had been nervous to ask the very same question first. Thinking for a minute, he finally thought of a response to her question. "Well, I'm a big fan of reading and listening to music, and I enjoy walks when I can, especially in the evening and night times. What about you?"
-
Sylvya nodded, trying to think about what such a calm life would be like. "Mm, sounds fun.." She shrugged and stared down at her cup, tracing the rim with her finger. "Ah, lots.. Laser tag, paintball, throwing knives, dirt bike races... Drawing.. Lots of random goofing off.." She had blushed a little when saying that she drew, and began to stare out the window again.
-
After hearing her response, Rhyder chuckled. "Wow... My hobbies sound pretty boring compared to yours! You also mentioned liking to draw? If you don't mind, can I see some of your work? I've always liked artwork, though I've never been good at it myself..." Rhyder was honestly curious about what she drew. He had heard that you can learn a lot about a person from what their art was like, so he was hoping he could know her a little better through that.
-
Sylvya panicked for a second at the request, then took a bit to think about it and slowly nodded after a while. "Yeah, I guess. It's mainly sketches for the tattoos, though. People tell me what they want, and I sketch it. Not too much else, nothing big or interesting." She remembered a few satirical imitations she had done of some people and shrugged it off. There was nothing else aside from those, save normal pictures of her friends and her cat.
-
Rhyder smiled at her and nodded. "Alright, thanks! Hey, they're still sketches! And of course you don't have to show me now, later will work. We're still trying to settle in and get comfortable after all." Rhyder was thinking of what to ask next when he was saying this, but was drawing a blank on what else to say in this situation. Glancing around the room, he noticed his luggage was still in the corner. "Hey, why don't we unpack a bit? If we're going to be living here, might as well get comfortable. Like I said before, you can take the bedroom, I'll sleep out here. This thing is starting to grow on me." To emphasize his point, he placed his glass of water on the nearby table and flopped onto the couch, beginning to relax a bit.
-
"Yeah, that would definitely be better.." She nodded gratefully. At the subject change, Sylvya bit her lip and shrugged, sort of wanting to get settled in herself. "Alright, that's a good idea... Buuut I can't let you do that.. Sleep on the couch, I mean." She stood up and shouldered her backpack, watching for Rhyder's reaction.
-
Hearing Sylvya's refusal, Rhyder sat up and looked at her. "And why is that?" He was very curious to her reason, and he was hoping it wasn't just that she thought he should take the bed instead. He could feel himself getting stubborn already, and tried to calm himself to hear her out.
-
Sylvya tilted her head and started listing reasons, her face showing little emotion aside from thoughtful logic. "Well, first, it's gonna have to happen eventually. I really don't think another solution is gonna come up soon, and you can't sleep on the couch forever. And you'd have to go into the bedroom anyway to get clothes. I mean, you can't live out of a suitcase. How would that look if we had visitors? Also, that bed is more than big enough for both of us and our personal room. I'm not even going to talk about sleeping patterns and individual smells." She trailed off after this, not really sure if that was enough to convince him, or if she should keep going.
-
Rhyder listened carefully, quickly thinking over each thing she said. Once she trailed off, he knew that he couldn't argue with her logic, so he decided to give in, nervous as he was. "Alright, you make some excellent points. I can't argue with any of that." Admitting defeat, he got up and went to the over to the corner and grabbed his bags. Turning back to face Sylvya, he tilted his head towards the bedroom. "Shall we?"
-
The apartment. For us and our stalkers~
Sylvya nodded a little, glad the whole thing was cleared up so easily. Grabbing her own bags, she hoisted the duffel strap over her shoulder and carted her stuff to the bedroom. Glancing around curiously at the hallway as she passed by, she finally got to the bedroom, where she stood to the side soon after entering. "You can choose which side you want..." Sylvya wasn't sure why she was so nervous, she had shared a bed with a guy before. Granted, that was during their winter field practice, and they had to get in pairs and zip their sleeping bags together for heat, but it shouldn't be much different.. -
Ooh, good idea putting that there!
Rhyder silently followed her down the hallway and into the bedroom. Glancing around, he realized that the room seemed a lot smaller when two people are staying in it, and that just added to his nervousness. Shaking his head to clear his mind a little, he looked at the bed. "Well, I was going to say the same thing to you... I guess I'll take the left side of the bed, by the window." He didn't really care which side he slept on, so he just decided to take the side opposite of the door. Walking over to put his stuff next to his side of the bed, he realized that the bed felt even smaller than the room seemed with two people. Rhyder was glad that he barely moved in his sleep, so it would make it easier to stay on his side, but he was still nervous about the whole thing.
