"Thank you, teacher" Sylvya muttered, and Martin silently cackled. He looked up to Judas with a serious but red face and nodded "Yes. Thank you.." Sylvya simply smiled " my cooperation is about as far up your ass as your head is, but sure. Thanks for yours."
After the farewells, one assistant stayed with Martin, one observed Sylvya from a distance, and the other one went to start up the car.
Sylvya turned and left the meeting room, giving barely a nod to Rhyder before she left. Once she was out of the room, she turned a corner and leaned against the cool wall, enjoying the air conditioning of the building without the stuffiness of that meeting room. -
Judas took the verbal hit and merely smiled, expecting as much from her, especially with what he had done to her and his son. finishing his handshake with Martin, he left the room, heading towards the car.
Taking this as a sign that he should leave too, he nodded to Martin and left the room, silently following after his father. As he left, he looked around to see where Sylvya had gone, but didn't see her. Catching up to his father, he whispered to him. "There's more to this than you're telling us, isn't there? You wouldn't have two people suddenly be engaged and then separate them." Seeing his father shrug, he took it as a "you'll find out soon enough" and dropped the subject. -
Sylvya heard them all leave and sent a quick text to her dad, telling him that she would be walking home. She pocketed the old flip phone and left through the back door, walking down any random road she pleased, leading towards or away from the house. She didn't care any more, she just wanted to not be home. After five minutes, the heat started to get to her throat, but she shrugged it off and turned down another random road.
Martin got the text and shrugged at his assistants. Not a minute later, they were all in the car and heading towards the Kramiery house. -
Sighing and happy to be out of the meeting finally, Rhyder turned to his father with a glare. "Alright, now explain. Seriously, what the hell were you thinking? How did you two think this marriage was even an option for peace? Our groups hate each other, and I'm pretty sure that includes Sylvya! She's not happy, I'm not happy, no one is happy with this! This has got to be your worst plan for peace yet..." Rhyder rambled on, complaining about this and that about the whole thing, not really caring if he got a response as long as he could rant and get it out of his system.
Judas silently listened to his son's rantings, knowing that even if he was asking questions, Rhyder was not expecting answers from him. -
Sylvya didn't really care what road she was down, and eventually she found herself on a dirt road with a large lily patch growing wild along the side of it. She seated herself in the middle of the orange flowers and sighed. Breathing their scent in deeply, she was immediately relaxed. The only thing that would make this better was water. After a few minutes, a truck passed, kicking up dirt and gravel. When the dust settled, she groaned and dusted herself and the flowers off.
Martin, not really caring what his daughter did, returned home and went about his usual activities. -
Rhyder ranted about everything he could think of the entire way back home, then stormed off to his room when they arrived. Closing his door behind him, he sighed and leaned against the door. "God, I need a shower..." Leaving the door, he quickly got out of the suit he hated so much and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash over him as he tried to calm down. Despite the heat outside, Rhyder always felt like a hot shower helped clear his head.
After watching his son storm off, Judas turned to one of his assistants. "Make sure that the preparations are complete for the two heirs to move in together tomorrow." Once the assistant nodded and left, Judas sighed, trying to decide how to bring up that Rhyder would be moving out the next day. -
Sylvya continued her care for the flowers, even pulling a few weeds that might have choked out the nicer plants. After a few minutes of this, she stood up, shook herself off, and began walking home, cutting across a few fields on the way.
-
After soaking in the shower for a while, Rhyder decided that his head was cleared up enough and decided to get out. After drying himself off and changing into a t-shirt and jeans, he began pacing his room, trying to figure out both a way to find peace without having to get married, as well as what to do if he did have to get married.
Deciding to tell his son about the new living arrangements during dinner, Judas started on his usual work. -
Usually, Sylvya liked to plan things out in advance; that's how you had to be on the battlefield. But with all this happening, there was no way to make any definite plans. She never knew when something different would pop up. She made it home and showered again to get the remaining grime off of herself. She stayed inside the rest of the day, reading and listening to whatever hubbub was happening outside.
That evening, Martin decided to break the news over dinner. By this time, Sylvya had numbed herself to what was going on. There was no shouting, no fighting, just the continual clink of silverware and a silent nod..... And a knife in the back of his chair as she left the table. -
Judas suddenly brought up the new living arrangements to Rhyder in as soon as his son had finished his meal. The sound of a chair squeaking as it was pushed back and the "bang" of the chair hitting the floor filled the otherwise silent dining room.
After hearing the news, Rhyder stood up suddenly, causing his chair to fall over. Knowing there was no point in arguing with his father, Rhyder muttered as he left the room, "Guess I'd better go pack then..." -
Martin hadn't mentioned where she would be staying, and she didn't really care. She went upstairs to her room and managed to shove all her belongings into an Army duffel and a backpack. She then went downstairs and outside to weave her wicked lie among her family and friends. She hated lying to them, but the idea that she was madly in love with this boy she just met was the only way they would support her. She went on and on about how Rhyder made her feel, lying through her teeth. When she saw they were convinced, she chirrupped that she had to go pack and skipped off to the house.
-
As Rhyder packed up his things, he muttered to himself, "So I was right about there being something else... Guess she and I will be spending a bit more time together than I originally thought..." After packing what he needed into a large suitcase and backpack, he decided that he should get some fresh air and left the house, wandering the streets aimlessly, enjoying the breeze and looking at the dusk sky.
-
She went to great lengths to make sure everyone believed, even going to the kitchen and asking the cook to help her learn things, to 'make her a better partner.' After she royally messed something up, the two just laughed and the cook suggested that her and Rhyder cook together. She did other few things around the area and retreated to the roof, where she ate the failed remains of her bread pudding and basked in the remaining sunlight.
-
Coming across a small park he used to play at when he was a kid, Rhyder sat down on a bench and leaned his head back, watching the stars begin to come out as the sunlight faded. After sitting there for nearly an hour, he sighed and checked his watch. Guess I should head back now... Tomorrow's going to be one hell of a big day, and being well rested may help... Standing up, he started on the path back home, still leisurely walking despite his desire for sleep.

Sylvya waited until the sun fully set before going into the house and getting to bed.
The next morning, she woke up, showered, and finished packing her things. After a quick glance around her room and a few farewells to her friends, she sat at the table, waiting for her dad. When he got there, awkward silence held for a few minutes before he told her to get in the car. They were agreeing to meet Rhyder and Judas at the place the younger couple would be staying. Sylvya said nothing and loaded her stuff into the car.
