Judas quickly nodded and looked to his son. "That's right, you still have a month before you get married. It will give you two time to get used to the idea!"
Rhyder looked away from his father to glance around the room. Noticing that the Shroud member closest to him had his hand on the gun at his waist, his eyes widened. Sighing, Rhyder leaned his head back and placed his hand on his forehead. "Damn it... fine. I'll go along with you plan for now." Not looking like I have any other choice... "But I will only cooperate under the condition that if we can think of another plan that could work, this arranged marriage is called off." Glancing at Sylvya, he sighed again. "Sorry, but will that work for you for now? I'd rather not start a fight between our families today..." -
Martin slowly nodded, glancing around.
Sylvia agreed with the idea of not starting a fight, but she was not going to get married. She stared long and hard at each of the leaders in the room, including Rhyder, and stormed out of the room before she stabbed someone. Slamming the doors shut, she left the building and went outside. "Nope, nope, nope, this is not happening. Bad dream, that's it.." -
Rhyder grimaced at the sound of the doors slamming. Glaring at everyone at the table, he slowly walked out of the room to go after Sylvya, I really hope I can convince her to cooperate with me for now. Aaand not get injured or killed in the process... Arriving outside, he spotted Sylvya and began to approach her. "Hey, please just hear me out!"
Judas sighed and sat down, slumping into his chair. "Well, that could have gone better... or worse..." -
Sylvya was in the middle of throwing knives at a tree. One from her chest, one in her hair, one in the jacket sleeve, one at her waist, and one strapped to her thigh. It was so natural; she didn't even grunt, just nailed four in the tree knots within four seconds. She was about to throw the final one when she heard Rhyder. Not recognizing the voice, she whirled around and was about to set the knife free when she saw who it was. She stopped herself at the last minute and glared at him. "What?"
Martin's eyes widened. "I suppose. I'm gonna get it when I get home." -
Rhyder took a step back when Sylvya whirled around and almost threw the knife. Raising his hands to show he meant no harm, he stepped a little closer. "Hold on. I know you're angry about this whole thing, but please hear me out. We have no choice but to accept the engagement right now. If we don't, the fighting will start again today and we'll be caught up in it. We have a month of peace to think of another way to stop this feud if we just say yes. I don't want to go through with their plan either, but we don't have much of a choice right now."
Judas sighed and nodded. "So am I... And I'm afraid how they'll react when we tell them they'll be moving into an apartment together tomorrow to adjust to each other." -
Sylvya squinted at him and sighed. Not willing to let go of her last knife, she put it back in her sleeve and went to retrieve the others. "I know that. I may look stupid, but I'm not. I know all this, you think it hasn't gone through my mind? Oh, and do I look unprepared for another fight?" She gave him an 'are you serious' look and walked back to her original spot, knives in hand. "I just don't see how they think they can run our lives. I don't know about you, but I'm old enough to decide for myself what I want and, no offense, but marrying you is not on the list. It just Really Pisses Me Off!" Her last four words were accented by thuds of her knives hitting the tree again.
Martin's eyes widened, as he had forgotten that detail. He held up his pointer and middle finger. "Two words: not well." -
Sighing, Rhyder sat down on the grass cross-legged and looked at Sylvya. "Well then what do you propose we do? We're going to have to think of something either way, so let's start talking and figuring things out. I'd love to hear any ideas you may have." Motioning to the grass a few feet away from him, Rhyder tilted his head a bit. "Care to join me?"
Judas nodded in agreement, agreeing completely with the two words. -
Sylvya frowned but nodded at the bit of logic. Tossing a "nope" over her shoulder, she went back to throwing her knives. She kept one on herself still, in case something happened. She didn't make completely perfect targets, though, as her mind was off thinking of solutions.
Martin smiled a little and leaned back in his chair. "Either way, I'm sure it will work out just fine." -
Shrugging, Rhyder continued to sit on the grass. "Suit yourself." He scratched his head, trying to think of any solutions he could. Shaking his head furiously when he couldn't figure out any solutions, he looked back up at Sylvya. "Figure anything out yet?"
Judas chuckled and leaned back too, relieving some stress from his body. "I hope so, for all of our sakes." -
Sylvya had walked to the tree to retrieve her knives and was frustrated, as Rhyder was, by the time she started walking back. She sighed and shrugged. "What if we just told people it was off" she made motions with her hands and changed her voice to suit the situation. "Hey, everybody! Nobody remembers what the whole damn thing was started for and we're tired of fighting. Let's all just forget the whole damn thing and go live happy lives with PTSD." She rolled her eyes, knowing full well that it would never work, not with the hate between the two groups. Her buddies would be ashamed of her for letting Rhyder live this long, let alone talk to him. There was no way that talking it out would work.
Martin nodded, still smiling. "Mm, true." -
Rhyder sighed and leaned his head back. "If only that would work... That would make things so much easier for everyone." Glancing at the building they had come from, Rhyder stood up. "I think its strange that no on has come out to get us yet. We are their heirs, and they do need us for their plan, so this is a bit odd. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but should we head back inside? Or do you want to keep torturing that tree while I watch?"
Standing up, Judas sighed. "Well, we've given them time to talk, shall we call them back in to finish this meeting?" -
Sylvya shrugged. "What are we gonna do, run away? Seems a little childish.. I don't think it matters if we go back in. What else is there to discuss? They've already ruined our lives, what more could they do?" She put away her knives anyway, but not making a move to go back in.
Martin nodded slowly. "Yeah.. And may the gods help us." -
Rhyder shrugged and sighed. "I don't know what more they could do. I honestly don't know..." Looking back at Sylvya, he tilted his head. "So now what?"
Judas nodded and stood up, walking out of the room and peeking through the front door to peek at his son and Sylvya. "Well Martin, your daughter hasn't killed my son yet, so there may be home for them yet..." -
Sylvya shrugged. "I dunno.. Wait for them? Try to not kill them when they eventually come out? Tell them if they forced us to marry, we'd elope so no one would know anyways, and it would all be pointless?"
Martin was surprised to hear that and jumped up excitedly like a teenage boy about to get head. "Woah, seriously?" He peered out to where the two younger ones were and raised his eyebrows. "Wow... He doesn't seem to be injured either... I'm surprised at her." Inwardly, he was proud, but refused to show it.
(Okaaayy so massive bromance ship with the dads now xD ) -
Rhyder shrugged and half nods. "Yeah, that works. The not killing them part may be a bit difficult though..."
Judas nodded his head, genuinely amazed that his son was still alive and uninjured. "Yeah, I'm impressed... I think he may be the only one who can stop your daughter, we made he right choice arranging their marriage." Glancing at Martin, then back out to their kids. "I almost don't want to go out and disturb them..."
(Hahaha XD )
