Rhyder barely heard his name, but decided to check if it had been said anyway. Seeing Sylvya standing there, his heart began to speed up. "What can I do for you, Sylvya?" He hoped he didn't sound stupid when he said that, but there was no point in worrying about it now that he had already said it. Looking at his fiancee, he saw that her hair was down almost to her waist. Remembering that his hand had rested on her waist for who knows how long, he could feel his face start to heat up.
-
She blushed and glanced away, almost embarrassed to ask. "Ah..the towels are in the closet and... I'm, uh, too short. I can't reach them..." She felt bad asking for a favor, since she had just left without saying anything earlier. She rarely ever felt bad for being so short, since 5'4" was a pretty good height for subtlety on the battlefield, but she was definitely cursing her height now. Feeling her face heat up, she stared intently at her bedside table and unconsciously wrung her hands.
-
Rhyder smiled a little at the request. He nodded and slipped past her to the bathroom, grabbing a towel from the closet and placing it on the counter. Turning back to Sylvya he grinned and patted the towel. "Here you go!" He had been able to distract himself with her request for a little bit, but now that he had done it, his concentration shifted to her. There was a few inches between them, so he understood why she couldn't reach the towels. Because of the height difference also, she was also very cute. Her meek attitude since they had woken up along with her appearance made her seem very cute to him. Rhyder had a little bit of a soft spot for cute things, and Sylvya was definitely cute. Fighting the urge to suddenly hug her, he slipped out of the bathroom again. "I'll... uh... let you take your shower now.." His face was red, he was sure, and he just couldn't make himself stop blushing.
-
Sylvya, who was watching at the bathroom door, smiled at his grin and happy conversation. She had stared up at him for that time he was looking at her, slightly confused at his hesitation. He was so much taller than her, and seemed to be just the perfect size to be held against. She tried shoving that thought from her mind, but honestly liked the thought of her and Rhyder cuddling or hugging or doing something of the sort. Just as long as they were close.. He was so warm and soft, too. She was jerked out of Imagination-land by his comment, and reddened when she realized she'd been staring. "Ah, thank you..." She sighed and shut the door after him, then quickly took her shower.
-
Once Sylvya had gone back to the bathroom to take her shower, Rhyder sighed. He felt his heart rate steady a bit and the blush began to go away, but not completely. He realized that he had been staring at her and she had stared back, probably wondering why he had been staring at her. Rhyder tried to shake the image of her out of his mind, but he just couldn't. She was too small and cute to get his mind off of. The image of her resting against his chest returned, and he remembered how good it felt. She was the perfect size to hold, and he found himself wanting more. Secretly hoping that they would find themselves in a similar position the next morning, he finished getting his clothes and prepared for his turn in the shower.

Sylvya was blushing as she showered, and took a very cold one in hopes of clearing her head. When she got out, she quickly dried off and slipped into her uniform. It wasn't anything special, just the regular army combat uniform. The camouflage, not the formal. Some people said that her bright red hair didn't go well at all with the green of the uniform, but she didn't care. She twisted her hair and put it up into the necessary clean bun. For a few seconds, she couldn't help but watch herself in the mirror. She didn't see anything overly attractive. Just a girl with red hair in an army uniform; she didn't even see how the color difference was strange, just a dull girl in a uniform. She hung up her towel and left the bathroom at exactly 6:30, just an hour after her alarm went off and that strange experience with Rhyder.
-
When Rhyder heard the sound of the bathroom door being opened and hopped up from where he had been sitting on the bed. Grabbing his clothes, he left the bedroom and headed to the bathroom. The contrast between Sylvya's hair and uniform caught his eye, and he couldn't help but smile a little. She still looked good in the uniform, and he found himself fighting the urge to just hug her. Shaking his head to get his mind back on track, he quickly slipped into the bathroom and took his shower. He hoped the hot water would help clear his head. After about 10 minutes, he turned off the water, dried off, and got dressed. Leaving the bathroom at 6:45, he went down the hall to the kitchen for breakfast.
-
Sylvya had meant to say something to Rhyder, but he disappeared before she could open her mouth. Figuring that it was probably because he found her strange, she shrugged and got the rest of her stuff together. The car came for her at 6:35, so she was gone before Rhyder got out of the shower. They arrived at the Kramiery house at 6:55, and she was in the mess tent with her group just at 7:00. In 15 minutes, the administration department would give each group their daily assignments, and Sylvya had a coffee while waiting. Alrhough her group was all Majors, she was the leader of her 4-person squad, and since they had all been friends since childhood, she never failed to tell them the 100% truth whenever she could. They knew the real situation with Rhyder, and were the only ones that didn't tease her about it. At just the right time, she was given a sealed envelope with her group's orders for the day. A few minutes later, the paper was burning, and they were on their way to the obstacle course.
-
As Rhyder came into the kitchen, he realized Sylvya must have left already. He had wanted to at least say goodbye, but he was too late to do that. After making up some breakfast and ate alone in silence. Eating alone was nothing new to him, but after living with Sylvya for a day, he realized that this small apartment was definitely meant for more than one person. After breakfast and the dishes, he turned on the TV just for some background noise in the otherwise silent apartment. Looking through the kitchen, he found that they had the needed ingredients for chicken and dumplings. Remembering that Sylvya had said it was her favorite food, Rhyder decided he would make that for dinner that night.
-
No matter how long you worked, or how strong you were, the obstacle course was challenging for everyone. Sylvya was sure that Chuck Norris would be panting at the end...maybe. At any rate, it was an intense course intended to make everyone better at everything- shooting, climbing, running, endurance- in any conditions... With only one half-hour for lunch, the entire eight-hour period was dedicated to the course. Needless to say, by the time Sylvya was dropped off at the apartment around 3:15, she was dead tired. Martin had finally given her the key, and she barely made it to the table before collapsing into a chair

Rhyder had been in the kitchen getting ready to cook dinner when Sylvya arrived. When she walked through the door, he smiled at her and gave a little wave. "Welcome home, Sylvya!" Seeing how exhausted she was, he figured he should do a little something to help. "Want anything to drink? Oh, and we're having chicken and dumplings for dinner, just a heads up." He was hoping that having her favorite meal would help her relax, as well as help them get a little closer. Rhyder had been opposed to the marriage at first, but now that he had had time to spend with Sylvya, he was enjoying himself.
-
Sylvya had her head in her arms, on the table. Without looking up, she wiggled her fingers in hello at Rhyder's 'welcome home', made a fist and did the sign language 'yes' to his question, and gave a thumbs up when he talked about dinner. At 2:40, as per usual, the higher-ups had taken a fire hose and completely drenched everybody working outside that day. That provided a good clean-off for people, and allowed them a good 15 minutes to dry off in the wind and sun. Sylvya was completely clean of any dirt and sweat (and kind of smelled like sunshine and clover), but the hose never took away the tiredness. She dragged herself off the table and took off her boots, then got up to set them in the entryway. Then, she walked to the kitchen and filled her cup with water. "Mm, chicken and dumplings sounds good..." She wanted to take off her jacket so she was just in her uniform pants and tan Tshirt, but didn't want to, in any way, undress around Rhyder.
-
Rhyder had been planning to get the water for Sylvya, but she had gotten to it first. When he got a closer look at her, he could tell that she was exhausted. She looked and smelled good, but she was definitely tired from her day. "You know, if you want to go lay down for a bit, you can. I'll wake you up when dinner is ready if you want." He enjoyed spending time with her, but she was obviously tired. What he really wanted to do was hug her now, maybe even lie down together, both hugging and sleeping... Pushing that thought from his mind, he knew it wouldn't happen. They weren't that close to each other, and he wasn't sure if they ever would be, as much as he'd like to be.
-
Sylvya nodded a little. Spots of sleep, no matter how long they were, 10 minutes or 10 hours, could almost always make her feel better. But she did feel bad.. "Oh, but I should help you with dinner.. How I can at least." She frowned at her own incompetence in the kitchen. After she finished the water, she couldn't take the heat much more. She went to the dining room and took off her jacket, the tan T-shirt underneath creating an interesting contrast against the camo pants and red hair, which she promptly took down. She returned to the kitchen and got another cup of water. "I can stay and help.. Surely something needs to be cut."

When Sylvya left the kitchen, Rhyder watched her go, wondering what she was doing, when she started to take of her jacket, he immediately turned back around to what he was doing with dinner. When she came back, he could feel himself blushing a bit. There was no denying how hot she was, and he considered himself very lucky to be living with her. Shaking his head a little to get his mind back on track, he looked at the dinner preparations and at Sylvya. Though Rhyder enjoyed the company, he felt like he should refuse so she could rest, but he didn't. "Well, there are a few things you could cut... but then you go rest, alright?" He held up an onion and a carrot for Sylvya to cut. "Carrot same as yesterday, and onion chopped up finely, please."
