Sylvya glanced up from her third game when Rhyder stood up. Seeing that he was only stretching -but lord, it was hot- she watched for a split second before going back to her game. Five went on the four..goodness, those glasses were perfect for him..bring the King down..his body type was amazing, too..new set of cards..seemed really nice too, and a great cook.. It went on like that for a while as Sylvya tried to push certain thoughts from her head.
-
Once he had finished stretching, Rhyder glanced at Sylvya. Deciding to just go for it, he cleared his throat. "Hey, Sylvya? Do you want to gowatch a ovie or something...?" He was pretty nervous asking something as simple as this, and hoped he wasn't interrupting her concentration by talking to her. He wasn't even sure what movie to watch, he just wanted to do something with her. Sitting together was nice, he had a great view of her, but he also wanted to do something with her.
-
Sylvya was glad for an excuse to look away from her game and up at Rhyder. He seemed to be attractive from every angle.. She thought his proposal over for a second before asking. "What..like in the living room? Or at a theater?" She was never really good with reading into social things, and wasn't sure where Rhyder was going with this. It did seem like fun, though, no matter what he answered. It would give them an excuse to be together for something
-
Rhyder smiled and scratched the back of his head. He hadn't really considered going to a theater, but it wasn't a bad idea. Tonight though, he just wanted to stay home and relax a bit, especially after his shower. "Um.. is the living room okay? I don't really want to go out into the world tonight..." He hoped that she wouldn't mind staying home tonight to watch a movie. He still didn't have a plan for what movie to watch, and he hoped that maybe Sylvya would have a preference.
-
Sylvya chuckled a little at Rhyder's choice of words and nodded. "Yeah, that's fine with me!" She gathered up the cards and put them back into the nightstand drawer, then turned back to him and smiled a little. "I think I saw popcorn in one of the cupboards, if you want.." Her mind went back to when she saw that and was reminded of something. She turned around again and dug around in the drawer for something she had grabbed from her house earlier. She found it immediately and held it in her closed palm so Rhyder couldn't see, as she turned to face him yet again. "Um, one condition though. You have to do something for me."
-
Rhyder smiled at Sylvya's agreement. He was happy to be able to do something together, even if it was just watching a movie together. He nodded at the suggestion of popcorn, trying to remember where he had seen it when he explored the kitchen. Watching Sylvya curiously as she dug through her drawer, he was a little surprised that she wanted him to do something for him. Unable to see what she had hidden in her hand, he wasn't sure what was in store for him. He had no idea what it was that she wanted, but he figured it wasn't anything bad. "Oh, sure. What is it?"
-
Sylvya took a deep breath and began, fighting back a blush. "I need you to hold this for me.." She held out a ring to Rhyder. When she was at work earlier, she had talked to Martin about the fact that she didn't have an engagement ring. For anyone that assumed she and Rhyder were in love, this would look suspicious. Of course, she didn't expect Rhyder to get one; they weren't in an actual relationship, and it might be temporary anyway. So, she had taken one of her mother's rings for this purpose. She hoped that it would be a more believable story to tell if he actually gave it to her; that it might make the pretending more realistic. She cleared her throat nervously. "And, um...ask me the question you just asked.. About if I wanted to watch a movie with you." It was a question she could say "of course" to, and probably wouldn't make things terribly awkward. She bit her lip and hoped he understood what she was trying to do.
-
Rhyder could feel his face start to turn red when he saw the ring. He had a pretty good idea why she was asking him to do this, but it was still a bit embarrassing. Nodding slowly, he took the ring from her hand and looked it over. It was a beautiful ring and he thought it would suit her quite well. As he looked at it, the fact that they really were engaged sunk in. He had already known that they were engaged, but this really made it sink in for him. Snapping back to reality, he took Sylvya's hand and slipped the ring carefully onto her ring finger. He could feel his face heating up rapidly as he did so, and glanced away a little after he had put it on her. Hoping Sylvya couldn't see his blush, he glanced back at her after a few seconds of silence. "S-so, um.... would you like to go watch a movie together...?"
-
Sylvya had expected Rhyder to just hand the ring back to her after asking the question. She wasn't expecting him to actually put it on her hand, and she had to stare at the ring to hide her blush. He was so careful about it, and was holding her hand so gently... Despite the fact that she wore gloves most of the time at work, her palms and inside of her fingers were kind of calloused (but still a bit squishy, like a girl's). Embarrassed at this fact, and not knowing how he would react to that, she found that having him hold her hand was kind of awkward, even though he was doing it rather nicely... She took a deep breath and turned her head up to look him in the eye. God, that face... "Yes..of course I will.." After a few seconds, she tried a smile and an awkward chuckle to break the silence.
-
Rhyere hadn't realized just what he had done until he looked Sylvya in the eye. His face head up even more and he slowly and reluctantly let go of her hand. Her hand felt so nice, and he hated to let go of it, but he knew that he should. He smiled back when Sylvya chuckled and let out an awkward chuckle as well. He stood there for a moment, looking into Sylvya's beautiful eyes. Realizing he was staring, he glanced away. "Um... You can pick out the movie, I'll start getting the popcorn ready.." He glanced back at her and smiled again, hoping the awkwardness would go away soon.
-
Sylvya's blush increased as they stared at each other. She nodded quickly and put the ring box back in the drawer. "Mm, fair enough. Anything you want to watch, or no preference?" She moved the leave the bedroom, surreptitiously making sure she was wearing a bra.
-
Rhyder followed Sylvya out of the bedroom, shrugging a little. "Um... something comedic, if that's okay with you." Watching a comedy always seemed to break apart any awkward atmosphere that Rhyder had been in, so he figured a good laugh with Sylvya could release some of the tension between them. After today's events, especially what had happened just a moment ago, he felt that something to laugh at together was the best option. Once they had made it down the hallway, Rhyder split off into the kitchen to made the popcorn for them. He paused for a moment and looked to his fiancee. "Oh, um, Sylvya? Do you want your own bag or should I just throw all of the popcorn into a bowl to share?"
-
Sylvya has departed to the living room, and was sitting on the floor in front of the TV stand, trying to decide what to watch. She'd only heard of a few movies in the collection they had been given, and didn't know if any of them were comedic. She sat up straighter to talk to Rhyder. "Oh, I'm still a little full from dinner; can't eat a full bag by myself." She let him decide what to do about that and pulled out a random movie. The back cover looked interesting, and she recognized the main character from another movie. The Proposal. How ironic. She made sure the DVD player was hooked up right and popped the movie in, hoping to get past the commercials before Rhyder got there.
-
Rhyder heard Sylvya's answer and decided to just make one bag, then put it all into a bowl to share. He wasn't a big popcorn eater, so he figured one bag to share should be enough. After starting the popcorn in the microwave, he glanced through the fridge, then looked into the living room where Sylvya was. "Would you like anything to drink as well?" As he asked, he glanced at the TV, trying to figure out what they were watching, then shrugged it off when he saw that there were just commercials at the moment.
-
Sylvya scrambled around for the remote as the volume was a little too loud, since she was sitting right next to it. "Um..just water, please.." She found the plastic piece and desperately jammed her finger on the volume down arrow. Figuring the movie would stop at the disk menu, she ambled into the kitchen, unconsciously playing with her ring, which felt strange on her finger. "Want help?"
