Sylvya frowned a little at his request to sleep, but nodded. "Okay.." She went over to the spot she was at yesterday and got the cutting board again. After washing her hands and rinsing off the carrot, she began cutting it up like Rhyder had instructed her. Due to her tiredness, she wasn't as fast as she had gotten up to yesterday, and the onion required a lot more time because her eyes started to water. She hadn't cried in a while, so it was kind of irritating. She wiped her eyes off on her shirt and continued, trying to chop them "finely."
-
Rhyder could plainly see her discomfort and felt bad for letting her help when she was so tired. After she had cut the onions for a little bit, he couldn't take it anymore. Unconsciously placing his hand on her shoulder, he shook his head. "Alright, that's enough. You're cutting them fine, but I'm not going to let you push yourself. You should go lay down, I'll get you up in a bit." He wasn't going to back down from this. Sylvya was tired, and he was making her lay down now. She wan't doing anything wrong, but he felt bad for having her help, and by cutting the onion of all things. He could handle the rest on his own, and he was determined to.
-
Sylvya was almost startled when she felt Rhyder touch her. His hand was heavy on her shoulder, but also warm and almost comforting. She turned her head to look up at him, making sure he wasn't lying about her doing something wrong. She nodded, defeated, and set the knife down, seeing that he was rather determined. "Okay... Are you sure?" She didn't want to make him prepare dinner by himself, and didn't want him thinking that she was lazy. She shifted her weight around, ensuring that her muscles wouldn't give out in the middle of the kitchen.
-
Rhyder nodded and took his hand away from her shoulder, realizing that he had startled her when he had touched her. "Yes, I'm sure. I can handle this, you go rest! Thanks for your help with the cutting!" He didn't know the details of what Sylvya had done during the day, but she was obviously tired and needed some rest. Rhyder had no problem preparing dinner on his own, and wasn't about to make Sylvya keep helping him after a long day. He hoped that he wasn't being too pushy, but he really thought she should get some rest.
-
Sylvya nodded reluctantly, disappointed that he had moved. His had was fairly warm and comfortable, and she was enjoying it on her shoulder. She gave a small sigh and nodded again. "Alright. Mm, I'll see you in a bit. ..Thanks..." She grabbed her jacket off the back of the chair and retreated to their room. Figuring that Rhyder wouldn't walk in on her, she closed the door and shamelessly changed into athletic pants and a T-shirt in the middle of the room. Remembering that Rhyder said he would wake her up, she didn't set an alarm and kept her bra on. After tossing her soiled uniform into an open suitcase, which she was temporarily using as a dirty clothes hamper, she crawled into bed and hid under the covers. She found a comfortable position, curled up on her side, and fell asleep within seconds.
-
Rhyder smiled and nodded when Sylvya thanked him, then got back to work on dinner once she had left for the bedroom. He felt bad for forcing her to leave, but he felt that her feeling rested was far more important than having her cut an onion.
Once dinner was almost ready a few hours later, Rhyder decided that it was a good time to wake Sylvya. Knocking lightly on the bedroom door before entering, he couldn't help but smile when he saw Sylvya sleeping. She looked so peaceful and cute when she was sleeping, and Rhyder wanted to watch her sleep a little before waking her up. Realizing that idea was kinda creepy if his feelings that he felt growing for her were unrequited, he pushed the thought from his mind and walked over to her quietly. Shaking her shoulder gently at first, he spoke in a soft voice. "Hey Sylvya, time to wake up. Dinner is ready if you want it." -
Sylvya had been having a strange dream, one that only included her and Rhyder, still living together, but differently than now. Instead, they were that cute couple. The Dream Sylvya and Dream Rhyder were doing a lot of kissing and hugging, she would sit on his lap and snuggle while watching movies, they did silly things around the house, stuff like that.. It was cute-couple dream where they were crazy in-love. She was in the middle of a reach-around dishwashing session (where she was washing dishes, and Rhyder was behind her, reaching around to "help") when she felt a nudge on her shoulder. It seemed strange until she was jerked into consciousness.
The only thing that moved were her eyelids fluttering open. Before her was Rhyder, the guy she had just dreamed about cuddling with, in all his attractiveness and charm. Her face turned red and she pulled the covers over her head to hide it. "Mmmm." She didn't realize until after that he might interpret that as a sign she wanted to sleep longer. Oh well. She was fully awake now. -
Rhyder smiled at Sylvya when she opened her eyes, then backed off a little when she covered her face. He took that as a sign that she wanted to sleep more. He reached down to brush her beautiful red hair a little, but stopped himself just before doing so. Deciding that it was a bad idea to do so, he walked to the door and turned around again. "Well, dinner is almost done, so I can come get you again in a couple minutes if you'd like..." He felt bad for waking her since she was exhausted and looked so peaceful while sleeping. Staying at the door, he wondered if he should stay for a moment to hear if he should get her again, and decided he should stay for a minute.
-
Oh god that smile.. It was slightly different than the dream- it was better. At his comment, she pushed the covers back and sat upright in one fluid motion. He'd already taken care of her a lot, and she wasn't about to place another burden on him. She stared at him a second before speaking. "Oh..I'm awake. I'm fine... Thank you." She glanced around for a pair of jeans to wear instead of athletic pants, opting to keep the T-shirt. "I'll be there in a minute. Thanks."
-
Smiling as Sylvya sat up, Rhyder nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. After he finished the last of dinner preparations, he served up the dinner and set it on the table. As he did so, he began to regret hesitating when he almost touched Sylvya's beautiful hair. Looking at his hand, he wondered what her hair would have felt like, as well as wondering what she would have done if he had touched her. Resolving himself to do touch her hair the next chance he got, he made sure everything was all ready for them to sit down to eat dinner.
-
Sylvya found the jeans she was looking for and quickly made the change. She patted down her hair to make sure it was somewhat alright and went out to the dinner table. She could smell the food as soon as she walked out of the bedroom and inhaled deeply. "Ooh, it smells good.." Seeing Rhyder look at his hand, she frowned. "Did you burn yourself?" She took a half step forward in concern. She wanted to make sure he was alright, but didn't want to invade his personal space by getting too close.
-
Rhyder jumped a little in surprise when he heard Sylvya speak, and looked at her, shaking his head. "Oh, no, I'm fine! No burns, just..." Not coming up with a decent excuse in the time it took to get to explaining himself, be decided to be vague about it. "Just regretting something I wish I had done when I had the chance." He wasn't lying, and he hoped she would accept that answer. Just in case she didn't buy it, he decided to redirect their attention. Turing to the table, he gestured with his hand. "Dinner is on the table if you'd like it. I've only made chicken and dumplings once before, so I hope that I didn't do too bad on it..."
-
Sylvya was confused at his statement and allowed her face to show it. She didn't press the matter, though; people who gave vague answers like that usually didn't want to talk about it. She was glad when Rhyder changed the subject, and turned to the table to look at what he had made. The smell was amazing, and she hadn't realized just how hungry she actually was until she caught a whiff of dinner. She really didn't want to say anything cheesy or cliche about the quality of his cooking, but went for it anyway. "Hey, it smells amazing. If it tastes just half as great, it'll be awesome. Thanks for making this..." She smiled a little when she remembered telling him about her favorite food, and blushed when she thought that he may have made it for her. She took a seat at the table and waited for Rhyder.
-
Rhyder was a bit relieved when Sylvya didn't press the matter and smiled when she said that dinner smelled good. Sitting down, he smiled at her. "Well I hope it turned out! I know you said this was your favorite meal, so I wanted to try making it... I hope you like it!" He felt a little embarrassed admitting that this was all just for her, but he didn't mind it. All he hoped is that she liked it and wasn't weirded out by him choosing to cook her favorite meal. Trying to get his mind off of worrying, he began to dig into the dinner.
-
Now it was confirmed that Rhyder had made dinner specially for her, and Sylvya's face heated up. She directed all her attention to her bowl and ate up. The cook at the Kramiery house didn't really make chicken and dumplings that often- said that it was a pain to make that for a few hundred people, and that a good bit of them didn't like the meal anyways. She did, however, get it every now and then on special occasions, like her birthday. The cook did pretty well making it, but Rhyder's recipe was infinitely better. She held the first bite in her mouth, surprised, for a second before raising her eyebrows and continuing to eat. That first bite made her realize just how hungry she was, and she eagerly dug into the rest.
