Brynn darted off into her room, shrieking excitedly about princess dresses. Olivia nodded. "Sure, thanks," she gave the blue-haired woman a quick peck on the cheek and walked towards the stairs. "This way, I'll show you two your room first." She smiled as Lucas followed quickly, still holding Marco's hand. "Are you two mates or something?" she asked, only half jokingly.
-
Kayleigh went off to the kitchen to start making sandwiches, unsure if she was supposed to make the hybrids anything or if they'd prefer the cat and dog food. Marco, of course, followed Lucas. His head tilted in confusion at Olivia's question, as he figured that he wasn't 'mates' with Lucas- only boys and girls were mates, as far as he knew, or as far as his brother had told him. But... The two ladies Olivia and Kayleigh seemed to be. "Me and Lucas?" He asked, just to be sure, as if it wasn't obvious who she was talking about.
-
Olivia nodded as she led them upstairs and down the hall. A few pictures decorated the walls, one of Olivia and Kayleigh in wedding dresses, another of Brynn as a baby. "Yeah, you and Lucas." she confirmed with another nod. Lucas smiled, waiting to see how Marco would reply.
-
Kayleigh had decided to make enough sandwiches for everyone, piling them on with corned beef and mustard and lettuce. Marco blushed, his ears flicking with uncertainty. He felt he should say yes, because Lucas and him kind of acted like they were, but he knew he should ask Lucas first. He tugged the dog hybrid's hand a little to make sure he was paying attention, then whispered none-too-quietly, "Can we be mates?"
-
Lucas laughed softly, admiring just how adorable the little fox hybrid could be. "Of course, I'd love to be your mate," he replied, rubbing their noses together for a second, a gentle nuzzle. Olivia stood back, watching the cute situation unfold. "...Alright then, you two won't have any problem sharing a room then. Right in here." She opened the door to a large bedroom, one bed against the wall, big enough to share comfortably.
-
Marco blushed bright red, as he'd been unsure of how Lucas would answer, and having done it all in front of someone else. He smiled with pursed lips, then stared into the room that would be their's. There was a tall, giant square in the middle that he didn't recognize, but he recognized the pillows and blankets on it. "Do we sleep on that?" He asked, still staring at it. It looked big and comfortable, like one huge pillow with littler pillows on it.
-
Lucas nodded. "That's a bed. Usually humans sleep on them. They're really comfy." Olivia nodded, starting to lead them around the rest of the house, she and Lucas attempting to explain things to Marco and eventually ending in the kitchen again for lunch.
-
As they went through the house, Marco knew he was most excited about the beds and televisions. When they got back to the kitchen, Kayleigh had finished making lunch, and had a tray filled with sandwiches on it. "I wasn't sure if you two would like these, but you should try it. They're beef, mustard and lettuce." Then, Kayleigh turned, calling out loudly for Brynn to come downstairs for lunch.
-
Lucas stared at Kayleigh in surprise. "These are for us?" Olivia nodded. "Of course, go ahead and sit down." Lucas looked even more shocked. "At the table?" Another nod. "Wow, thank you! I've never been allowed to eat like a human before, and this smells really good!" He slid into a chair, a look of childish excitement on his face. Brynn bounced down the stairs a moment later, arms full of plastics crowns and glittery scarves. "After lunch, Fox will be a princess with me!"
-
Marco was quick to sit down right beside Lucas, excited as well. He'd stolen lots of sandwiches from campers before, but it would definitely be the first time that the sandwich would be intended for him and he'd be sitting at the table. He looked at Brynn, seeing everything see was holding, and wondering how he would explain to her that he didn't know how to be a princess. Kayleigh came over with the tray of food, and set it in the middle of the table.
-
Lucas took a bite and moaned in approval, tail wagging. "This is amazing, I've never had anything like this before." he said with a smile, chuckling and leaning over so Brynn could reavh high enough to position a plastic gold painted crown atop his head. "You're the king," she instructed. "And I'm the princess!" She pointed to her own tiara before holding one out to Marco. "Fox, you can be the queen."
-
Marco got a sandwich as well, and took a bite of it. Normally, he'd see it as a treat to have real human food, but now he'd have it every day, and that felt like a luxury. He set his sandwich down to take the tiara, and looking at Brynn's for instruction, set it on top of his head. "Queen bee," he hummed, thinking of the one thing he could relate it to.
-
Brynn giggled. "Not queen Bee, queen Fox." she corrected firmly, hopping up into her own seat and grabbing a sandwich. Olivia sat down to, patting the chair beside her for Kayleigh.
-
"Queen fox," Marco repeated, knowing he should do so so that Brynn would know that he understood. Kayleigh took the offered seat beside Olivia, smiling at the two hybrids. "Did you like the house tour? Is your room alright?"
-
Lucas nodded quickly. "Everything's great, thanks!" Olivia nudged her wife. "They're mates, apparently." She said quietly. "I think that might be why the fox is so clingy." Lucas was giggling, watching as Brynn tried to drape a sparkly pink sash over Marco's head.
