The little girl clung to her mother and looked curiously down. One little hand remained balled in the fabric of Kaleigh's short, and the other stretched out towards Marco. "Fox!" She chirped, pleased to have learned the correct term. Lucas silently noted how fast the woman had swooped the child away from Marco's open mouth, as though he might bite. The dog hybrid smiled slightly. He couldn't imagine Marco biting a child. Or anyone really, unless maybe he was cornered or frightened.
-
Marco took a step sideways, towards Lucas. He was taken a little aback by the people suddenly all paying attention to him. "Uhm-hm," he confirmed again for the little girl. The mother could see that maybe the girl wanted to test out the new hybrid, something that she'd never seen before and as a child to her it was so much more precious of a thing to see something new, so she said, "Alright, you've got to ask him if you can pet him, okay? You have to be polite."
-
The girl nodded swiftly and squirmed out of her mother's grasp. She stepped closer to Marco and smiled, clasping her hands in front of her. "Can I pet you?" She asked hopefully. Then, glancing at Kayleigh, then quickly back to Marco, she added "Please?" Olivia smiled, preoccupied with other hybrid. She was scratching behind Lucas's furry ears as his tail wagged and his eyes closed blissfully.
-
Marco looked to his side, at Lucas, who seemed gleefully focused on being pet behind his ear. Though the fox was nervous, and afraid of the child possibly not being quite as gentle as Olivia, he nodded, and let go of Lucas' hand so that he could sit down on the ground and be at the little girl's level. Kayleigh watched him with a careful eye, glancing between him and her daughter.
-
The girl tentativley reached out, her fingers hovering hesitantly in the air for a moment before making contact with Marco's ears. Her lips parted in a small fascinated 'oh' and she gently patted them. She smiled, removing one hand to gesture to herself. "I'm Brynn." She announced, with the pride only a small child can muster.
actually there's a girl in my social studies class names Brynn and I really like the name so yeah) -
Marco didn't flinch when her two small hands made contact with his head, he only blinked and looked at her. She seemed rather fascinated with the ears, so he stayed still while one hand was still on his head. "Hi," he said, clasping his hands in his lap to occupy them.
It tis a nice name) -
"What's your name?" She asked, big innocent eyes blinking curiously. She glanced at Olivia, then back to the fox hybrid. Trying to mimick her one mother's actions, she have his ear and experimental scratch, seeing if he would enjoy it like the dog seemed to. At this point the red haired woman had stood up, beginning to discuss food and other things they would need.
-
"Marco," he answered, as the girl's hands moved on his head. For a moment, it felt no different, but then it was actually sort of nice. His ears relaxed a little, having been pin-straight and attentive before, and his eyes drooped closed. The fox felt far more relaxed and comfortable around the people than before, and wasn't quite so nervous about them.
-
Brynn giggled happily at Marco's content expression. Lucas, who's own petting had out to a stop, inched closer and knelt beside Marco, grinning. Olivia nodded, discussing something with the woman from the shop, signing papers and accepting bags of cat food with a slightly bewildered expression.
-
(Oh my goodness I googled it and foxes actually purr awe)
Kayleigh, who was still standing behind Brynn, was losing her hesitance to purchase such a questionable hybrid like a fox. It seemed nice enough, and Brynn seemed to like it. Marco, finding that being pet wasn't so bad at all, actually started to purr. When he was much younger, he used to do it when he and his brother were playing, but now the husky rumble sounded contently and softly from deep in his throat. -

Awww omg rereading this they're so cute ahh)
Brynn giggled at the soft purr and continued to stroke his ears, tiny fingers running over the soft ginger fur. Lucas watched the little girl with a fascinated smile, happy to see that Marco didn't seem quite so scared anymore. Olivia handed the papers back to the older woman with a bright smile, thanking her and glancing down at the hybrids. -
(I know right?? They're so adorable ;-;)
Marco was still purring, a smile creeping up to his face. His brother had always said that humans were horrendous, cruel creatures that would starve him and beat him if they ever got their hands on him. Marco was discovering just how absolutely wrong that was, and how much he enjoyed the true nature of humans. Kayleigh, though, saw her partner finish talking to the shop owner, and knew it was about time to go. She tapped Brynn's shoulder, signaling her that it was time to go. -
i know ahhh X3)
Brynn seemed reluctant, but she pulled her hand back, instead reaching for Kayleigh's hand with her own smaller ones. "Are we gonna take home Kitty? ...I mean Fox, Mommy, can we take home fox?" Lucas smiled, glad that the family had given Marco a chance. He slipped closer to him and grinned. "The little one likes you."
