The man scratched his chin, looking thoughtful. "What about the brother? Ain't you after him too?" He asked. He held the woman's hand, trying to reassure her. She kept glancing back at the cage containing Marco, and Lucas feared she would give him away. He shifted anxiously felt Marco grip onto his shirt. He hoped the fox wasn't too scared or worried, but Lucas knew he probably was. The CHR wasn't kind to 'nuisance' hybrids.
-
The man answered after a moment of looking through his papers. "Already got him. The other one's been missing since he went after them. The brother was caught the first day." He felt he didn't need to say much more about what had happened to the brother. "Is it alright if I take a look around?" Marco held Lucas tighter, shaking, trying to hide himself as best as he could behind the dog hybrid.

XD that's awesome XD)
"Don't take him!" The woman burst out. The man sighed softly, glancing at his wife. "He came to us just yesterday, he was starving and frightened, but he's perfectly harmless! Please, he can stay here, I promise he's no threat..." She rambled desperately.
Lucas flinched back at her sudden outburst, turning away from the three people to face Marco. He wrapped his arms around the other hybrid and pulled him into his chest, trying to sheild the shaking fox as best he could. "It's okay," He whispered. "I won't let them take you." -

The man at the door jumped a little at her outburst, sighing slowly as he registered it. His paper stated specifically that he had to find the hybrid, and take it to the center. "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but I need to take it, his files say he's not fit for human interaction. Perhaps if you'd like to call my supervisor.." He suggested, though he said it with despise- he didn't want his boss to hear that he'd caused an uproar. Marco clung onto Lucas, keeping his arms between them to keep himself hidden. -
The woman promptly nodded. "Then do so, please. He's perfectly fit for interaction, I could easily say he's one of the most well behaved hybrids here. You can't kill him..." The man gruffly nodded, silently placing his opinion with his wife's.
Lucas continued to whisper comforting things to Marco, hoping to calm him down. He could feel him trembling, and Lucas hated it. He hated the man for making Marco so scared, so anxious, and he himself felt guilty that he couldn't do anything against it. The man was obviously stronger than him, and if it came down to taking Marco by force, then they probably could. -
The man held in another sigh, and before the scene could get any louder, turned away from the couple at the door to pull out his phone. While he was talking to the supervisor, Marco was whispering to Lucas. "He said they took my brother, too," he said, trying to gather himself. It was easier to take this news here, with Lucas, than it would have been elsewhere. At least in this situation, he had the shoulder of a dog hybrid that he promptly started crying on.
The man turned back to the shop owners after a minute, shutting his phone. "He's on his way with a vet. They have to complete a full physical, he has to pass an interaction test... It's a long process." -
The woman nodded firmly. "Whatever you need to do." She said. "I'm honestly very sorry to put you through all this trouble, but this hybrid doesn't deserve to be out down."
Lucas felt another stab of pity when Marco started crying. He held him tighter and ran a hand through his hair, rocking back and forth ever so slightly. "I'm sorry, Marco, I'm so sorry..." He gently nuzzled his cheek. In all honesty, Lucas was more surprised than anything else. He hadn't expected to feel so angry at seeing Marco upset, and he certainly hadn't expected himself to want to comfort him as best he could. Maybe he was starting to care for the fox more than he realized. -
Marco cried, only softly because he couldn't help but feel a little glad that at least he'd get to stay with Lucas for a little while. He decided he'd do his best with the tests they were talking about, so that he'd be able to stay.
Within a few minutes, a white SUV came and parked in front of the shop, and two people came out of it. One man in a suit, and the other dressed like any old veterinarian. They both came to the door, greeting the shop owners with curt nods. "Hello," the suited man said, "so I guess we're doing this. I need to be out of here in an hour, so if we can move it along...?" -
The woman looked rather offended at the man's bluntness, but the man nodded. "Of course. This way," He stepped over to the cage containing Lucas and Marco and unlocked it, gesturing for the fox hybrid to come out. Lucas reluctantly let good Marco, but sent him a reassuring smile, and a soft "Good luck!" as he backed away.
-
The suited man pulled the first worker aside, talking to and flipping through the clipboard with him to figure out the details. Marco, for a second, held onto Lucas' shirt with one hand to try to take him along as well. But the vet gestured for him to hurry, so he wiped his eyes dry and stood up to follow the man to one of the cushioned seats along the wall. He sat down, and the first thing he had to do was pretty simple. He had to hold the glass red and clear thing under his tongue and not open his mouth for a minute.

oye hiya lucky~)
-
hola sorry ^^'
Lucas sat pressed against the bars, peering through the thin stripes of metal and hoping and praying with all his might that Marco would pass the tests. There would still be the possibility of them being separated by adoption, but at least he'd get more time with Marco. He glanced at the shops's owners, who stood side by side wearing identical looks of anxiety. -
Once a minute had passed, the vet took it out of his mouth, looked at it, and then tucked it into his pocket. Then, out of a bag he carried on his shoulder, he took out a notebook to write something down and a clear plastic case with objects inside that Marco didn't recognize. The man turned to the shop couple and told them, "I'm going to assume he hasn't had any of his shots. So, if you might, please warn me now if you have any fleeting suspicion that he might bite me."
-
The woman frowned. "He may, but he's nervous. He wouldn't do it out of hostility, only fear." She glanced at Lucas, who was squirming around, looking deaperatly tempted to go over and hold Marco's hand or something. "Would it be alright to let another hybrid out to keep him calm?"
