Cristian got back to his apartment just about as quickly as it ha taken to get to the park, and once he was there, he settled into opening his window to air the place out. That done, he went back to his table, setting up another card game.
-
Throughout the day, Joey walked back and forth between the different buildings. His job was fairly easy and simple. All he had to do was help each patient with anything they couldn't already do, or that would be hard for them. Cook a meal, clean up a bit, have a conversation. Little things like that.
-
Cristian did what he did every day; read the newspaper, play cards, or stare at the wall. Mostly while smoking, sometimes not. He made himself lunch and dinner, both just tv dinners, because he couldn't use the stove.
-
Before long, Joey was back inside his own apartment. He collapsed on the couch with a sigh, tired after running between buildings all day. He made a mental note to remember to make waffles rather than pancakes for Christian tomorrow.
-
The trip to and from the park took a lot more out of Cristian than he would have cared to admit, and so by the time he'd finished his dinner he ended up going to bed instead of playing cards anymore.
-
After eating a quick dinner and packing a few things into his bag for tomorrow, Joey decided to go to bed too. It wasn't like he had other plans. A few of his friends had tried to set him on dates before, but in a sense Joey was married to his work.
-
Cristian slept soundly all the way through the night, undisturbed by any nightmares. Back when he still had one, his therapist said this was odd, and it might actually be a bad thing- that his mind was blocking out bad memories. But Cristian took it for what it was, which was never having a nightmare. He hadn't bothered to set an alarm, and when the usual doctor visit time came around, he was still in bed.
-
When Joey stepped into Christian's apartment, he immediately wondered if something was wrong. No puff of smoke hit him in the face as he entered, no cards were being shuffled on the table. He set down his bag and walked a little further into the apartment, checking the rooms until he came to Christian's bedroom. He quietly peered in, smiling at the sight of the vet still curled up in bed, wearing an expression much more peaceful then his usual one.
-
Cristian was, at least, decent-ish. He was only wearing underwear, but he slept with the blankets tugged up under his arms. He slept on his back, because it was easier to get back into his chair in the morning if he slept this way.
-
"...Christian?" He called softly, hoping he could wake him up without actually going over to him while he was in bed. He didn't want to deal with a situation that awkward this early.
-
Cristian, just like any veteran, really, was a light sleeper. At the call of his name, he opened his eyes for a second, then blinked them back closed. "Mm..? What is it?" He asked, not moving any more.
-
Joey held back a laugh. He was rather cute in the morning. Joey liked it when he wasn't grumbling and blowing smoke at him, although in all honesty he didn't mind that part of Christian either. "It's pretty late...You want me to start breakfast?"
-
Cristian yawned widely. "Yah. Yah whatever," he said, covering his eyes with his arm. He really didn't feel like getting up and getting dressed, but he couldn't wheel around without clothes on with Joey around.
-
Joey nodded and headed out into the kitchen, chuckling to himself. He pulled down the ingredients and started to mix up the waffle batter. He contemplated using the air freshener he'd hidden in his bag, just to clear away the smoky smell for a second, but decided against it. Christian had already vetoed the idea.

It took a good five more minutes before the veteran pulled himself out of bed. It was all upper body work- there was a metal bar on the wall, and he pulled himself into sitting with that. Then, he turned his chair to face the right direction, and- well, that was less delicate. Technically he was supposed to be careful, but it was easier to just kind of hop off the bed and land in it however he did. Which worked this time, as he landed rather nicely in a sitting position. Still in his underwear, he wheeled to his dresser to get out a shirt.
