Joey smiled, a happy little laugh sounding as he gave Christian a little squeeze. "You should get some sleep now. It's late." He patted Cheistian's hand and smiled again. "Don't worry about anymore nightmares, I'll be right here with you, okay?"
-
Cristian didn't bother with making an argument out of it, he only nodded. The cigarette in his fingers was almost smouldered down to the filter, but he ashtray was in on the dining room table. "Can you get rid of this?" He asked, holding out the roll.
-
Joey nodded. "Be right back." He promised, standing up and taking the roll. He quickly found the ashtray and disposed of what was left of the cigarette, relieved to be rid of the smell directly. It still lingered around the apartment, it always had, but it wasn't so bad. He turned and stepped back into Christian's room. "Do you...want me to stay here? Or in another room..?" He asked.
-
Cristian shifted a bit, trying to decide on this. He wasn't sure if he wanted Joey to stay with him all night, but it was probably for the best and the couch wasn't all that comfortable. "Wherever you want," he murmured, sinking back into laying down. "The couch won't give you a good sleep, though."
-
Joey nodded and half-smiled. "Guess I'll stay in here then. I wouldn't want to be too sore in the morning to cook." He said, stifling a yawn leaning back slightly and looking at Christian.
-
Cristian wiggled himself to the side of the bed that was against the wall, leaving the entire other half of the bed open. "Okay. Go ahead."
-
Joey nodded and slipped under the blankets, laying a little ways away from Christian so as not to make things awkward. "Good night," He mumbled with a yawn. He didn't close his eyes though. He wanted to wait a bit, just to make sure Christian wouldn't have anymore nightmares.
-
"Mhm," Cristian hummed in return. He closed his eyes, and tried to ignore the fact that someone else was in bed with him. Even though it wasn't in any way sexual, it took him fifteen minutes to fall asleep again.
-
When he finally heard Christian's breathing even out, he rolled over and glanced at him. He was asleep, looking much more peaceful than Joey usually saw him. He decided to stay up just a little longer, just to make sure Christian would be alright.
-
The effects of the patch were already starting to wear away, but the symptoms were still there. Only softer. His dream was poor quality, like he was looking through a fogged mirror, but Cristian was still able to see fire that licked up the sides of his vision. The veteran scowled, gripping his bed sheets in one fist.
-
Joey instinctively reached out and gently laid his hand over Christian's, which was clutching the sheets tightly. He bit his lip and watched, slightly concerned, hoping it wouldn't escalate into something as intense and traumatic as the first dream.
-
Cristian at first didn't react to the pressure on his hand. When he realized it, though, he took a sharp breath in, worried as to what it was. It woke him up, but he didn't open his eyes. He only remembered who was there, and knowing it was anything but dangerous, took a breath to calm himself and flipped his hand to hold Joey's.
-
Joey gave his hand a light squeeze. "You okay?" He said softly, hearing Christian's sharp intake of breath as he woke up. He couldn't help but worry, whatever Christian had seen earlier had really seemed to terrify him.
-
Cristian nodded a soft, "Mhm." He hadn't moved any more, and was trying to change his thoughts to other things. He remembered he had a physical therapy appointment tomorrow, and he'd need to go to the gas station for another lighter because the one he had was running out. "I've gotta sleep," he mumbled.
