(It's okay xD)
The veteran shrugged, embarrassed that he'd said it now. "I just... Thought I could give it a try." -
Joey smiled and nodded. "Good for you!" He piped up after a second, grinning happily. "Really, it's good that you're trying to get over the habit."
-
Cristian blushed, waving his hand dismissively at the praise. "Yah. Whatever."
-
Seeing his embarrassment, Joey quickly shut up. But he was still smiling, proud of Christian that he was making the right choice. Although he still wondered what brought the sudden change on...
-
Despite the conversation they were having, when the doors to elevator opened Cristian was still puffing his cigarette. He led the way to the doors just like the previous day, hitting the handicap button and going outside.
-
It was a good thing Joey wasn't a cat, because his curiosity got the better of him. "What made you want to quit?" He asked, following Christian outside, a cool wind making him shiver slightly, and be glad he brought his jacket.
-
Cristian was dissapointed that he'd forgotten his jacket in the apartment, but the store wasn't far away enough that he wanted to get it. The cigarette was burning out, so he picked it from his lips and flicked it to the ground. "It's unhealthy."
-
"I've been telling you it's unhealthy since we met though, why the sudden change of heart?" Joey inquired. He noticed Christian didn't have a jacket and frowned slightly, hoping he wouldn't be too cold.
-
"Just..." I decided to listen, but didn't it aloud. "I don't know. I just did."
-
**holy crap I'm too tired to write
** listen, he thought, but didn't say it aloud. -
Joey sighed, he obviously wasn't going to get a straight answer from him. "Alright..." He saw the store come into view and smiled, perking up a bit. There was no need for him to get so upset over a little question. Christian was out of the house again and trying to quit smoking, and Joey was happy.
-
Cristian didn't say anything all the way until they got to the store, the sliding doors opening automatically when they approached. "Okay.." He breathed, looking at the labels that hung from the ceiling over the isles. He saw the one that read 'medical needs,' and went off that way.
-
Joey followed close behind, wondering whether or not the patches would actually work. He hoped they would, but he'd also heard that some people thought it just wasn't the same and actually holding and smoking a cigarette.
-
It took another while of searching, but the veteran finally found what he wanted, and picked up a box to read the label. "For those smoking less than ten cigarettes a day, apply one patch every 16 hours. For those smoking ten cigarettes a day or more, consult a doctor," he read aloud. He paused, then looked right up at Joey. "Ahem, doctor...?"
-
Joey grinned and shurgged his shoulders, holding his hands up in surrender. "Hey, I've been trying to get you to quit since we first met." He reminded him. "I should've just taken them away the first chance I got," He continued, lowering his arms. His grin faltered slightly. "But it seemed like the only thing you liked doing. I didn't want to take that away from you." I didn't want to be responsible for taking away your happiness.
