Cristian took in a breath of the smoke, holding it in his lungs for a minute. It sounded like Joey was trying to ask him out, especially considering how he'd been acting so worried about him lately. "I don't go on dates," he stated, the words fogging his face as they breathed out the smoke. "And it's an effort to get downstairs."
-
Joey's face turned five shades of red and he quickly shook his head. "I didn't mean like a date..." His blush faded and he grinned. "And of course I could help you get downstairs. Come on, please? I'm worried about you, and it'll be fun!" He gave the bet his best pleading smile, although he knew it probably wouldn't make a difference to Christian.
-
Cristian was starting to figure that no matter what he said, Joey would still try to get him to do something. So he sighed, making a careless wave of his hand. "Fine. Fine."
-
Joey grinned happily. "Great!" He exclaimed in triumph. Seeing the unenthusiastic expression on Christian's face, his grin quickly faded. "Thanks," He said sincerely. "I know you probably don't want to do this, but I promise, it'll help."
-
Keeping the cigarette between his lips, Cristian put his hands down on the wheels of his chair, reversing himself away from the table and tucking the box of cigarettes and the lighter back in his pocket. "Yah. I get it. But I'd rather be playing cards, so let's just get it over with."
-
"You want to go now?" He asked, tilting his head. He stood up and grabbed Christian's plate and the syrup, clearing the table and setting the dishes in the kitchen. "Alright, where do you want to go? You've just eaten, so I suppose a restaurant won't work..."
-
Cristian shrugged, rolling himself over to the door. This was not difficult, considerung how clean his apartment was kept so that he had room to move around. "I'm fine with just going to the botanical gardens or something," he said, though, unsure if he was allowed to smoke there, he said, "or just the park."
-
Fully aware that there were probably smoking restrictions in the gardens, Joey quickly agreed to Christian's second suggestion. "The park sounds good then." He smiled and opened the door for him.
-
Cristian rolled out into the hallway, puffing out smoke so he looked more like a train than a person. When he reached, about six doors down at the end of the hall, the elevator, he stopped. "See. I can't get in there. The hallway's too small and-" he gestured to the opposite wall, where his chair had in the past left a deep gash in the dry wall. "My chair doesn't make the turn tight enough."
-
Joey frowned. The whole situation would've been much simpler if Christian had been allowed a room on the first floor. "Well, there's already a mark on the wall. What difference will one more make?" He offered optimistically.
-
Cristian sighed. He may have been trying to make up excuses to not go outside, but he really couldn't think of any more. Reaching forward, he hit the button to call the elevator, and in no time the doors were opening to an empty silver box. The veteran, with a nails-on-a-chalkboard scratching of the wall, managed into the elevator. There was nothing to do, though, about the fact that he was facing the back wall of it.
-
Joey managed to squeeze into the tiny elevator beside him, and after a bit of awkward shuffling, he managed to turn Christian's chair around so he was facing front. "Maybe we should grab some air freshener if we pass the store," He commented sarcastically, waving another puff of smoke out of his face.
-
Cristian decided to sassily blow another heap of the smoke right up at Joey. "I've already got enough chemicals in my air, I don't think it would help to add any more."
-
The blonde quickly swiped at the air, coughing a few times as the smoke hit him squarely in the face. "A simple 'no thank you' would've sufficed." He muttered between coughs. The silver doors slid open and Joey stepped out of the elevator, giving Christian a bit more room to wheel himself out.
-
Cristian wheeled himself out, and continued on going to the front doors. He had to go to the side of them first, though, to hit the blue and silver handicap button to open the doors automatically.
